Calling Him to Account
After the women left, only three men remained in the large living room. James Rhodey, true to his arrogant drunken self, continued his act.
It was unclear whether his earlier remarks were a heartfelt statement made under the guise of addressing the issue, or just nonsensical ramblings feigning madness. Henry didn't pay much attention to that. In any case, he just let those words go in one ear and out the other, not taking them too seriously.
Having been called upon, Henry didn't even consider going to the beach with the girls. Instead, he stayed behind to see what Tony Stark was up to with all this trouble.
The young master didn't keep anyone waiting long. As soon as things quieted down, he blurted out, "How are you going to clean up the mess you've made?"
"What did I do wrong? What did I do wrong?" Henry was genuinely baffled by this seemingly nonsensical question.
"Don't tell me you knew nothing about C Mei's plea for help."
It's definitely not something you can easily pretend to be ignorant about.
"--Even if you're stupid enough to be stopped by the military outside the blockade and unable to enter Raccoon City, there should be someone inside to meet you, so C Mei can connect to Umbrella's servers and, incidentally, drag me into it."
Tony Stark's words mean he was also fooled by the heavily faked surveillance footage I used to deceive Skye? With his abilities, he should be able to find the flaws if he looks closely. Does this mean seeing my silhouette is enough?
"--Now I know all about Umbrella's dirty laundry. Because of that, I was forced to move here from New York earlier than planned. I should have just burned your C Mei instead of letting her mess around on the internet."
This really confused Henry. "Wait a minute, you're saying this forced you to move from New York to Los Angeles earlier than planned? What's the connection between these two things?"
Tony Stark, unable to hold back any longer, finally caught the person in question and unleashed a torrent of abuse. "I never imagined anyone would be interested in such aesthetically unappealing and incredibly difficult-to-control weapons. I've seen those enhancement programs, including Licker, Tyrant, Nemesis, and Alice Project. They all transform humans into bio-weapons that are extremely prone to going out of control."
"A single mistake could easily lead to the annihilation of both sides. Dropping a nuclear bomb at least allows for a damage assessment and the early evacuation of our own forces. With these biological and chemical weapons, there are only various uncertainties."
"However, for a company that would formulate Cleansing Plan and list it as a strategic goal, it seems quite natural to manufacture such an uncontrollable weapon. They certainly don't want others to easily stop the killing."
"I thought that after seeing these things, everyone would be on my side, so I planned to take action against the Umbrella. Who knew that as soon as I leaked the information and prepared to create public opinion, a bunch of people jumped out to stop me."
"Some tried to persuade me, some threatened me, and most were planning to give me a wife for a political marriage. I was so annoyed that I had no choice but to flee New York in a sorry state. I swear, I've never wanted to leave a place so much in my life."
"After arriving in Los Angeles, the mess in New York finally calmed down a bit. But I can't swallow this, and I'm determined to get to the bottom of this."
"It's just that a person's environment and perspective limit their thinking. And I felt I needed a really bad idea right now, so I thought of you."
"Be proud. At least in this respect, I admit your brain is still somewhat useful to me. But I also know your timid nature, so I helped you find a legitimate reason to come to Los Angeles. Be grateful."
Henry's lips twitched, and the smile he had been maintaining became very strange.
Finally, I managed to come up with an idea. "How about contacting the Continental Hotel? If you offer a bounty, they can rip the heads off all the top executives of Umbrella and put them on your wine cabinet as decoration. I can introduce you to the manager of the Continental Hotel in Los Angeles."
"It's a pretty despicable idea, but it won't work." Tony Stark shook his head. "You were the CEO of Stark Studios, you're not like those ignorant people who think that killing a few people will change the whole situation."
When Henry heard this, he could only sigh. To give the simplest example, can an emperor have 500,000 fine knights, or can a person with 500,000 fine knights call himself me?
What If...? a Tyrant's incompetence leads to social unrest and widespread suffering, even if you manage to kill him, as long as his 500,000 elite cavalry remain, a second or third emperor will emerge. And there's a high probability that the world will end up just like it was under the previous emperor.
So the key is not to get rid of the leader, but to get rid of those 500,000 elite cavalry. This doesn't mean destroying our own defenses and letting outsiders bully us. It means breaking down the social structure behind those 500,000 elite cavalry and establishing a new system that we are not bound by.
Even if we were to arrest Dr. Isaacs and all the other top executives of Umbrella today and set them on fire, as long as Umbrella Corporation still exists, its successors will simply be playing the same tricks in different ways. Umbrella Corporation here is just like those 500,000 elite cavalry.
Henry understood this Reason well, and he had discussed these matters with Alice and others.
His original plan was to release the information on the T-virus and Antiviral Serum, thus dismantling their biggest niche. By revealing Umbrella Corporation's weakness, he figured someone else would naturally take care of this unscrupulous company.
Just like when he dealt with the Arden Family. The two key figures were wiped out, and the entire family's wealth was exposed to other Old Money families without any precautions, leading to a frenzy.
To ensure the legitimacy and rationality of breaking up the Arden Family, the others were bound to protect "Henry Brown." This would allow them to both eliminate their enemies and protect themselves, making a graceful exit.
But today, things seem to be developing differently from the Arden Family's situation regarding the Umbrella. Henry, abandoning his joking mood, asked seriously, "Is someone trying to protect the Umbrella?"
"More than you think." Tony Stark took a swig of his drink.
What did you originally intend to do?
"The best course of action would be to take over the entire Umbrella. Transfer the research talent there to Stark Industries, and leave all the technical data and patents to gather dust in warehouses. Stark Industries can afford to lose money." "That's understandable. To outsiders, your actions could be seen as Stark Industries ' attempt to expand its bioweapons business. That's why some people are trying to stop you."
Tony Stark's actions weren't wrong, but he couldn't explain to others what he wanted to do; even if he did, probably no one would believe him. Not to mention, this guy was so arrogant that he disdained explaining himself.
It means I have to take down the Umbrella myself. That's really troublesome.
