Borrowing a Private Jet
The incident in front of the painting didn't dampen anyone's spirits for the meal. Paul Mellon didn't comment much on the painting; perhaps he'd seen plenty of attention-seeking young people like Henry.
Henry, of course, wasn't going to hold a grudge; perhaps it was just a different aging technique. Besides, even if he had found a bargain, the seller wouldn't let him take the painting. In fact, after expressing his doubts, he regretted it slightly.
Old Money like Paul Mellon and Rachel Lambert are not comparable to a kid like Tony Stark. Hopefully, publicly humiliating them won't cause any problems for Ms. Hepburn's situation.
However, Givenchy didn't say anything, and his conversation with the Mellon remained relaxed and comfortable. Henry continued to act as if he were invisible, his table manners, which he had learned, were so perfect that no one could find fault with them.
He didn't even need to bother praising the food's deliciousness; although it was indeed very tasty, no one cared about his opinion.
To put it bluntly, he was only able to sit at the guest table today because of Audrey Hepburn. If it weren't for the aura of that lady representing him, he probably would have had to sit at the same table as the other waiters at the Mellon house.
So Henry was happy to enjoy his meal in peace and quiet.
During the casual conversation over the meal, Givenchy revealed his destination for the day, saying, "I've come today to visit Ms. Audrey Hepburn."
"I heard Ms. Hepburn was hospitalized. Is she alright?" Paul Mellon asked.
Rachel Lambert answered first, "The surgery was done, and everything went well. Right, Henry?"
Henry put down his soup spoon, wiped his mouth, and replied, "Yes, madam."
"So, how can we help?" Paul Mellon asked again.
Givenchy said, "Paul, actually I wanted to borrow your private jet to take Audrey back to her home in Switzerland for Christmas. I've already visited her; she's in the kind of weakness you get after surgery."
"If you were to fly on a regular passenger plane, even in first class, you might not feel very comfortable, and there would be concerns about your recovery. Booking a medical charter flight with an airline is not only troublesome, but you also have to follow the airline's arrangements."
"That's why I thought of you two, hoping you could help. Otherwise, Audrey will have to stay in Los Angeles until her health recovers enough to take a long-haul flight before she can go home."
"May I inquire about Ms. Hepburn's surgery?" Paul Mellon asked.
Since the meal was almost over, and the soup was a light mushroom soup, it shouldn't have affected anyone's appetite. However, Henry still asked, "Is it convenient to talk now?"

"Please speak."
"Okay." Henry gathered his thoughts and said, "Ms. Audrey Hepburn has a rare case of appendiceal cancer that has spread. It is stage II cancer and is still treatable with surgery."
"Therefore, I underwent open abdominal surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center two days ago. The incision was about 15 centimeters long and lasted about two hours. The surgery was successful."
"Post-operative follow-up and chemotherapy are still required. The doctor at Cedars-Sinai is scheduled to conduct the first follow-up visit in three days. As long as the post-operative recovery goes smoothly, the patient will be transferred from the current ward to the sanatorium area."
"However, rather than simply receiving treatment and care, Ms. Hepburn preferred to return to her home in Switzerland for a simpler life. The doctors at Cedars-Sinai are also optimistic about her post-operative recovery."
These days, there's no such thing as minimally invasive surgery. The size of the surgical field determines the area of the operation.
What If...? were just a regular appendicitis, the surgical incision would be between five and ten centimeters. But Audrey Hepburn also had part of her intestines, which had been affected by cancerous growth, removed, so the incision was much larger.
At their age, given their emphasis on health and wellness, even without professional medical knowledge, the Mellon still knew some basic surgical facts and postoperative conditions.
Therefore, Henry didn't need to provide photos as evidence; they could roughly imagine the situation. Especially considering that the woman was already rather thin, postoperative weakness probably wouldn't be easy for her to recover from.
The couple exchanged a glance, Paul Mellon nodded slightly, and Rachel Lambert smiled and said to her friend, "We don't have any plans to travel or use the plane for the time being, so we agree to lend it to Ms. Hepburn."
"Given Ms. Hepburn's post-operative condition, the aircraft may require some modifications to meet its medical purpose. We will cover all costs associated with these modifications, as well as the flight expenses."
"You can tell Ms. Hepburn not to worry about these little things and to focus on taking care of herself. Once she's fully recovered, she can come to Oak Springs and we can have a good chat."
Givenchy said happily, "Madam, we are deeply honored by your permission. On behalf of Audrey, I would like to express our gratitude to you."
"I've heard that she's dedicated herself to United Nations Children's Fund's charitable work in recent years, helping many impoverished children around the world. What we can do to help is just a small thing. Please don't mind," Rachel Lambert replied.
Paul Mellon added, "Let's raise a glass, -
Everyone raised their wine glasses with him.
Wishing Ms. Audrey Hepburn a speedy recovery.
"Wishing you a speedy recovery." After saying this, everyone took a sip of wine according to their own capacity. Some drank more, some less.
In general, it's best not to let the guests keep drinking even after the host has put down their glass. It's not that the host is afraid of the guests drinking, it's just that it looks awkward.
Today's trip was a complete success. This made Givenchy even happier; his face flushed, and he couldn't wait to fly back to Los Angeles to share the good news.
Seeing Givenchy's eagerness, Rachel Lambert said, "Haha, my good friend, stay the night. It's rare for you to come all this way, and we haven't had a proper chat yet."
"Besides, Paul has recently acquired quite a few new items and wants to hear what you, a master of the fashion world, have to say about them. If you just run away like this, he'll have no one to show off to, and I'll be in trouble again."
Seeing Givenchy's apparent desire to leave, even Henry looked at his glass, still containing a bit of wine, with a sense of unease.
Kryptonian aren't susceptible to getting drunk from ordinary alcoholic beverages. Henry drinks this stuff like it's water. But the others don't know that.
Givenchy said helplessly, "Kid, drink up. We're not leaving today; we'll stay here for the night."
This is a privilege that ordinary guests don't get, so cherish it!
"Yes, thank you, sir and madam," Henry replied.
