Goals and Regrets
Seeing that old Gary was about to continue, Henry quickly interrupted him, saying, "Come over for dinner tonight. I need to tidy up the house and buy some food. Tonight, I'll ask you about the news from Los Angeles this year."
Old Gary thought for a moment and said, "Okay, let's talk again tonight."
"Let's talk tonight," Henry nodded.
After the glamorous landlady left, Henry rolled up his sleeves and quickly tidied up.
Despite spending almost the entire previous year traveling the world with Audrey Hepburn, Henry would occasionally sneak back to Los Angeles. Aside from cleaning, he would upload data or programs under the name CK.
The computer I brought to Switzerland was the first Stark i486 I bought, and it had a commercially available CRT screen.
One of the reasons I didn't give up on the rental apartment in Los Angeles is that, besides the stereo system, the hand-built server-class computer also needs a place to be placed.
Although it can't compare to those supercomputers built with massive financial backing from corporations, Henry was confident that this hand-built server was several generations ahead of commercially available computers. It would be able to last at least into the new century.
This is an experimental computer designed to establish its own ecosystem, serve as a runtime environment, and provide multi-purpose functionality. It has four CPUs installed, with room for expansion.
You don't need to think about how to develop the hardware yourself; just follow future developments and tinker with something that's roughly usable.
When we truly reach the bottleneck, we'll find a way to break through the technology of Quantum Computer. There's no rush to achieve it all at once now; it's a way to build up our technological reserves.
The most important part of the software is undoubtedly the operating system.
Starting in 1982, Apple's Lisa pioneered the window interface trend, saving it from being wiped out by the deep-pocketed IBM. Last year, in 1992, Microsoft also released Windows 3.1, a windowing software based on the DOS environment.
Two years later, in 1995, Windows 95, which would change the entire landscape of personal computer use, was about to be released. Computer use would enter a brand new era.
Henry had no intention of stealing this enormous fortune from his beloved. Because no product of any era is something that someone can invent and then sit at home collecting money on, as it may seem.
Behind the scenes, there are countless sources of support and resistance, and countless people vying for a share of the pie. How to stand out from this environment surrounded by wolves and tigers is the secret that successful people keep to themselves.
As Edison famously said, "Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration."
The effort here is not the kind of blind, futile effort that involves burying oneself in work. Rather, it includes building connections, navigating the Emporium, and defending one's rights in the law. It represents a higher level and a broader direction of "effort."
Clearly, these things were more important to Edison! Only an elementary school teacher would tell a story like, "From a thousand experiments with different materials, we found that tungsten filament was the most suitable material for a light bulb wick."
As for the follow-up statement, it's just that some people want to discourage ordinary people from getting bogged down in the cutthroat world of business. If there are too many challengers, and someone keeps sabotaging things, a potentially profitable deal will fall through.
So they love to use Mind Stone like "gold always shines" to satisfy those with a shrewd mindset. The subtext is probably, "Just wait until the next life. Shining in the next life is still shining, and they didn't say anything wrong."
Important! This is the Marvel Universe, a place teeming with Metahuman, aliens, and Mutants.
What's the point of a Kryptonian like me trying to outwit a bunch of Jews in Silicon Valley and on Wall Street?
To work as a background actor in Hollywood, one could argue that it's about experiencing life and witnessing the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.
Working on Wall Street is no better than robbing... Even though that financial world is darker and more decadent, if you're not interested in something, you're just not interested.
Henry's goal was something different: to bring Linux's windowing system to market sooner, while maintaining open-source and shared capabilities, and to achieve a good user experience with minimal performance overhead, thus lowering the barrier to entry for Linux.
Simply put, it means being the one who messes things up.
Don't ask what the purpose of doing this is. The answer is to maintain the selfless image of the CK name and demonstrate the demeanor of a powerful figure who doesn't show his face.
Henry didn't care what the consequences of doing so would be for the emerging technology industry, which was struggling to find a way to monetize its products.
Maintaining world peace is not his responsibility, much less so maintaining world order! The world should be grateful to the name CK for not using Hacker techniques to cause damage.
However... while cleaning isn't a big problem for Henry, who possesses Super Speed, considering that the purpose of technology is to make life more convenient and easier, perhaps he could develop a suitable household robot?
Go to the junkyard to find parts or raw materials, and use the Kryptonian abilities to process them. That's how the server in the house was handcrafted. Getting a robot shouldn't be too much of a problem, right?
It doesn't need sophisticated AI control; basic automated programming will suffice. Take a robot vacuum cleaner, for example. Compared to humanoid robots that can dance or mimic human movements, it's undoubtedly much simpler to manufacture.
This way, even when I'm not home, someone will still keep the house clean, albeit a robot. My future goal is to live the life of Kryptonian like myself!
Although the goal was set in a strange way, Henry didn't think it would be difficult to achieve. Meanwhile, his daily tasks remained unresolved.
If there's anything to regret during this time, Henry did realize one thing: no matter how powerful the Kryptonian are, they still can't defeat Death without proper learning and training.
Whether it's an accident or an attack, Henry can choose to handle it either publicly or discreetly, if he so chooses.
Although the fastest solution is not always the optimal solution, when the Super Brain calls for using superpowers to beat the game, Henry usually thinks about whether there is a more suitable approach at the moment.
But when faced with illness and aging, the present self becomes useless.
Although Henry didn't witness Audrey Hepburn's gradual aging, he saw her journey from health to illness and ultimately death unfold before his eyes.
So, should I study medicine?
In fact, I already have medical knowledge; I just lack clinical experience. To enter medical school, I need to complete my academic education from elementary school to university, or at least obtain an equivalent academic qualification certificate to enter medical school.
Then they work their way up from intern to resident, hoping to one day become an authority in a certain field. Isn't that just like going back to the old life of beasts of burden, only in a different environment?
This would waste too much time. And that's not what Henry wanted either.
Is there a shortcut? This question inevitably came to Henry's mind.
