Emergency treatment
Does this mean they're trying to find a way to buy their freedom? Henry wondered.
It's impossible for offering oneself in marriage to solve the problem; otherwise, the issue would be much simpler.
Or is she trying to control me by threatening this favor? That's wishful thinking.
Henry's gaze swept over a poor fellow nearby who was bleeding heavily from the paramedics' actions. The proper surgeon was also preoccupied with other emergency cases and couldn't come to help. It looked like the injured man was about to be killed by that incompetent doctor.
Pointing to the person being treated, Henry said, "I can handle this." After saying that, he walked over and pushed the person aside.
Seeing this, the Russian Mob members seemed to want to stop Henry's actions, but none of them were as fast as Henry.
The hemostat was inserted, followed by the tweezers. When the tweezers came out, the Negasonic Teenage Warhead that had been lodged in the body had been removed and placed on a metal tray.
As for the bleeding, there was just an unusually large amount of blood coming out, which looked a bit frightening. But the bleeding has stopped, which can be seen from the change in the amount of blood in the wound.
The group of Russian Mob wanted to block them were caught in a dilemma, looking at each other in bewilderment.
The hemostat can be used to fix the bleeding, rendering the tweezers useless. Henry released his hand and said to the paramedic he had previously pushed away, "The bleeding has stopped. After draining the blood, we can suture it with electrocautery or ligation. You know how to do that, right?"
Regardless of whether the paramedics offered to take over, Henry went straight back to his original position.
Immediately, one of the Russian Mob rushed out and said, "You can save them, why don't you continue?"
This man was tall, nearly 1.9 meters, and relatively thin. His face had a somewhat weathered look, and his eyes held a hint of melancholy. He was the kind of person who would stand out in a crowd; a typical handsome man of Slavic descent.
Henry, of course, wouldn't be swayed by someone like that. He simply rubbed his fingers together with a shrewd grin and said, "I have no obligation to save people. But I'm open to offering paid help to you. You understand what I mean, right?"
The man who jumped out didn't seem to be the leader of the Russian Mob. But he was quite generous in helping his companions, pulling a handful of Gold Coin from his pocket, placing them on the table, and saying, "One Gold Coin for each person saved."
Henry feigned ignorance, picked up a Gold Coin and examined it closely, even weighing it in his hand. He asked, "This doesn't look like an officially issued American Gold Eagle, nor does it resemble an antique Gold Coin. Does it contain an ounce of gold?"
The American Gold Eagle is an official Gold Coin minted by the United States Mint starting in 1986. It comes in four denominations with legal tender values of five, ten, twenty-five, and fifty taels. It contains approximately 91% gold, with the remainder being silver and copper.
In an era of low gold prices, these commemorative items are used to profit from price differences. Haven't they realized that gold's value will eventually exceed its legal tender status?
However, the obverse of the American Gold Eagle features the Statue of Liberty, while the reverse depicts two bald eagles, the national bird of the United States.
The Gold Coin in Henry's hand features a blindfolded goddess, possibly Athena, holding a sword and shield in her right hand and a mint leaf in her left, surrounded by a laurel wreath. It bears the Latin inscription "Ex_UnitaeVires," meaning "Unity is strength."
The reverse side features the same sword and shield background, with a lion in the foreground. It also bears the Latin inscription "Ens_Causa_Sui," meaning "(something) originates from this body." Following this is a string of Rome numerals, "M CM LXXX III," indicating the year of its manufacture, 1983.
The handsome Slavic man, holding out Gold Coin, said, "No, these are High Table Gold Coin. One Gold Coin, one promise. In my world, this is a more useful currency than the US dollar."
"Oh, can I use this Gold Coin to ask you to do something for me?" Henry asked.
"I also have the right to choose whether or not to accept it."
"Hmm~" Henry put the Gold Coin in his pocket, picked up the rubber gloves next to him and put them on. He finished removing the bullet and stopping the bleeding of the wounded man, including the final stitching of the wound.
As for minor injuries on other parts of the body, stitch them up if necessary, and use bandages for those that don't. The movements are fast, but still within the limits of human capability; just don't treat the people under your command like living beings.
After the injury is treated, those who have received the injection of methimazole should rest, while those who haven't should receive an additional injection of methimazole.
After performing first aid on one person, Henry picked up another Gold Coin and moved on to the next person.
Of course, he wasn't looking for people who were easy to save and whose problems were largely resolved with the hotel's emergency personnel; rather, he was looking for people who were on the verge of death and couldn't be treated by proper doctors or emergency personnel.
Henry didn't bother changing his gloves or equipment; he just wanted to ensure he wouldn't get infected from the blood. He didn't care whether the wounded he was treating had any infectious diseases that could cause cross-infection—everyone here did it this way anyway.
When there are other people to compare him to, Henry's seemingly swift speed becomes somewhat abnormal.
Although his hand speed looked like that of a seasoned doctor, with no hesitation in his actions and quick stitching, he was still ultimately within the realm of a normal person.
Henry's speed was faster than others because other emergency responders had to find the bullet inside the wound; if there was bleeding, they had to find the bleeding point. If they weren't so skilled, searching inside someone's body could be excruciating.
But Henry, with his X-ray X-Ray Vision, was incredibly accurate, making no unnecessary movements and saving much more time than others.
Then came the full-service procedure: suturing, stitching, putting the injured person on a gurney, and knocking them unconscious. All the injured were completely obedient and didn't utter a single extra word.
So much so that after Henry had treated three people, the Continental Hotel's physician was still treating the injured person he had originally chosen.
It wasn't that the old doctor was too slow; rather, his unfortunate subordinate had been shot several times in different areas. As the only person present receiving a blood transfusion, you can imagine how serious his condition was.
This is why gangsters, when there's a chance to save their brothers, shouldn't easily abandon them, otherwise they might end up being the ones abandoned one day. Otherwise, according to emergency medical standards, such people would be at the bottom of the priority list, with those who have a greater chance of survival being saved first.
There weren't actually many unlucky people who got shot, and most of the first aid personnel handled the situation appropriately. In any case, as the assassin's sanctuary and mission intermediary, the Continental Hotel's surgical staff were quite capable.
The unlucky few Henry picked were shot in particularly tricky places, which is why he was able to intervene and the paramedics who were pushed aside didn't object. Otherwise, he, who was stealing business, would have been kicked out long ago.
However, there was one person who was shot but not treated properly because he had verbally abused and driven away several paramedics.
Henry followed the Slavic man who was pulling out Gold Coin to the old man who had been shot.
