Los Angeles Continental Hotel

The Continental Hotel Los Angeles is located in downtown Los Angeles, between Dodger Stadium and Los Angeles, in an area Chinatown was developed relatively early.

Compared to the distinctive iron-triangle shape of the Continental Hotel in New York, the exterior of the Continental Hotel in Los Angeles is much simpler.

Built around the same time, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Continental Hotel in Los Angeles features an industrial style unique to the United States.

The innovative Cyborg structure and riveted connection method allow the building to function without relying on heavy load-bearing walls for support. This allows for larger windows and better natural lighting.

The exterior walls feature a bold arched design, incorporating elements of France Gothic style. This makes the building, designed by a renowned architect, stand out even amidst the surrounding skyscrapers.

A group of gunmen who had just stormed into a state legislator's home walked into the building as if nothing had happened. Some of them even had bloodstains on them, but the greeters at the door didn't stop them.

Compared to the veteran gunman's group, which suffered relatively few injuries, the Russian Mob, which ran head-on with the fat senator's retreating group, suffered far more severe casualties.

However, they did not enter through the main entrance, but instead entered the hotel through another door in the alley. People who had been shot were constantly helped in by their companions, and some were even covered with white sheets and carried or lifted in.

They will be led to another lobby, in a different location from the hotel's regular reception lobby.

Henry followed the old gunman's men, entering through the main entrance, passing through the corridor, and arriving at another lobby of the hotel. There he saw a large number of hotel staff frantically providing first aid to the wounded members of the Russian Mob.

Minor injuries are manageable, but for serious injuries, even though the Continental Hotel have highly skilled surgeons stationed there, they can't handle a large influx of wounded people at the same time.

But none of this concerned Henry. He simply looked around curiously, examining the interior of the hotel building he had passed by many times but never entered.

Unlike the bright lobbies of typical hotels or star-rated hotels, the lobby of the Continental Hotel Group is more like a bar for couples on dates, creating a dim and ambiguous atmosphere.

However, such an environment is not very friendly to those receiving first aid or those being rescued. Especially with so many injured people, many are simply lying on the tables in the lobby instead of going to a dedicated medical room.

Therefore, emergency responders have to try different methods, such as biting a flashlight or pulling a lamp nearby, to increase the brightness of the lighting.

"Charlie, what's going on? You guys aren't secretly helping Congressman Mike Liddell Halton to stab the Russian Mob in the back, are you?"

The speaker was a sophisticated urban woman wearing a violet pencil skirt and a white fox fur coat draped over her shoulders. Her long red hair cascaded down her white fur coat in large waves, and her blood-red lips were striking even in the dim light.

But her sharp, assertive gaze was enough to shatter all her beauty, extinguishing any admiration and leaving only profound awe.

The veteran gunman, whose name had been called out, also noticed the unfriendly looks from the Russian Mob. He smiled wryly and said, "Ms. Fisher, how could I do such a thing? The payment for today's mission was already divided up from the beginning."

"Even if I used dirty tricks to kill a few Russia, my pay wouldn't increase. Doing something that wastes bullets isn't in my nature. You should understand that, right?"

"So, can you explain why?" The woman, arms crossed, noticed Henry's incongruous attire and unfamiliar face, and asked, "And who is this rude young man?"

"The Mutants Henry Brown, who was initially considered the biggest challenge of this mission, is bulletproof," Charlie introduced.

Upon hearing this, Mooney Fisher immediately understood the source of the unusual shape of the other person's lower body. She then asked, "Are these the bullet holes you fired?"

"No, it was one of that black congressman's men who did it."

What happened?

Charlie gestured, indicating that the opportunity should be given to the person in question to speak. Henry, seeing the woman's gaze turn towards him, fearlessly said, "Someone offered me a job I didn't want, and I didn't cooperate, so he's angry. That's all."

The whole story was explained in a few words. Mooney Fisher hadn't expected this to happen, and asked again, "So, these bullet holes in your body were inflicted by the congressman's men?"

"Yes, they fought really hard; they ran out of bullets."

Charlie then chimed in, "As soon as we saw this, we launched an attack. The black man and few of his men stayed behind to fight; apart from those we killed, the rest ran away."

"Then leave this guy behind. That's probably why the Russia suffered such heavy casualties; they essentially ran into a relatively intact enemy force."

As soon as Charlie finished speaking, everyone turned their attention back to Henry. This made the Kryptonian smile shyly.

"So, what's the point of bringing him back?" Mooney Fisher asked again.

"The demand was to leave no survivors, right? I can't handle that. Besides, he's clearly not with that black man, so I don't think it's necessary to kill him. That's why I brought him back to you for a decision."

Mooney Fisher was somewhat annoyed that her subordinates were dumping the problem back on her. Her nonchalant expression, of course, was noticed by the others.

Immediately, someone fawned, "Ms. Fisher, what's so difficult about this? Just put Mutant Suppression Collar on this guy, shoot him in the head, and everything will be solved. It's not difficult at all."

The Mutant Suppression Collar is one of the effective means of dealing with Mutants in this world. However, it only suppresses, does not cancel, or reset, mutant abilities.

If the mutant's ability is too strong, the collar's suppressive ability will not be able to function effectively.

At this point, another function of the collar becomes very important. That is, when the collar detects the wearer using mutant abilities, it will trigger an electric shock effect to punish the wearer.

Some of the collars are even equipped with bombs that can blow the head off the wearer who uses their mutant abilities.

Most Mutants can be controlled with this device, but unfortunately, due to the limited battery life of this era, it is only a temporary measure.

The prisons that hold Mutants are specially designed with their abilities in mind. For example, Magneto would need a completely plastic, individual cell.

However, Mooney Fisher did not accept this suggestion. Turning to the man who had almost made a fool of himself with flattery, she said sternly, "No business is allowed within the hotel grounds. That's a hard and fast rule. Once inside, he is under my protection."

He then looked at Henry and said, "But don't think this protection is permanent. This isn't a refugee shelter. If you can't afford to stay, you'll have to get out. So, the question is, how do you plan to change my mind?"
