Hunting
In summer, mountain streams can swell due to heavy rainfall, making streambeds and sandbars unsuitable campsites, unless one can tolerate suddenly becoming a floater in the middle of the night.
Henry found a higher spot, at the edge of the woods, where there were no signs of flooding, and put down his equipment.
Seeing this, Barbara put down her backpack and asked, "Do you want to camp here?"
"Yes, let's stay for a day," Henry replied. At the same time, he unchained Kitty's collar, slapped Tiger's head twice, and let him run wild.
Freed from her reverie Kitty jumped into the creek without looking back, drinking and rolling around in it. Then she darted into the woods and disappeared.
"Hmm, won't Kitty get lost?" Barbara asked worriedly.
Henry chuckled and said, "Don't worry. He'll come back on his own when it's time to eat."
"No, aren't you worried that Kitty might run into other campers and bite someone?"
"When the time comes, we'll just have to find a way to bury them deep so they don't get discovered," Henry said jokingly.
At the beginning of the year, Barbara went on a trip with Henry. She was used to his occasional crazy remarks, so she just laughed awkwardly and forgot about it.
Henry chose this location because he had used his Super Senses to confirm that there were no other living people around, minimizing the possibility of being spotted. This was due to both his various superpowers and the presence of Kitty, the Tiger.
He had prepared a two-person duplex yurt, with fiberglass pillars, making it easy to set up even for a single person. Of course, Barbara wouldn't just stand by and watch; she nimbly helped out, but not in an annoying way that ended up hindering him.
Working together, the two quickly set up the yurt. Henry packed away the things they wouldn't need for the time being, took out the bow and arrows he had prepared, and said to Barbara, "You can rest here for a bit, or go play in the stream."
"Can't I come along?" Barbara pleaded.
"Madam, I'm going hunting. What would I be thinking, bringing a complete novice along to disturb the game? What If...? you don't want to be fed to Kitty today, you'd better stay here and let me prepare dinner."
Pouting, Barbara said with dissatisfaction, "I can help too."
"What If...? you want to help, please go into the forest and gather some firewood. I don't want to watch Kitty eat raw meat."
"Okay. Be careful."
"I know." Henry, carrying his bow and arrows, walked barefoot across the deepest part of the creek, which only reached his knees. He followed Kitty into the woods where she had disappeared.
At this moment, Barbara took out a portable phone from her backpack, held it high above her head, and walked around.
Finally, he had no choice but to give up, muttering, "As expected, not a single bar of signal. Mr. Nick Fury, it's not that I don't want to repay you."
She then put the phone back in her bag. Dressed in a revealing outfit, Barbara looked at the natural environment of green mountains, clear waters, blue sky, and white clouds, crossed her arms over her chest, and suddenly shivered.
"Ugh. Bringing a girl like me to a place like this, there's no reason for her to run away now."
Henry, who was in the forest but had already walked three kilometers away, also shuddered. This wasn't some kind of supernatural sixth sense; he had simply heard the girl speak.
With just that slight tremor, his arrow veered off course. It looked like it would only stick into a nearby tree, missing the buck that had been aimed at.
Henry immediately unleashed his Super Speed, catching up with the arrow he had shot, adjusting its trajectory so that it would pierce the stag's eye socket.
Once he regained his normal speed, the buck, caught off guard, was struck in the eye socket by an arrow that pierced its brain and killed it instantly.
Looking at the fallen deer, Henry wondered a question. If he was going to use his powers anyway, why bother with the bow and arrows?
He was truly distracted by that girl. He couldn't help but mutter, "Boys also need to protect themselves when they're out in the world."
He hoisted the deer onto his shoulder and started walking back. Henry wondered if bringing Barbara along on this trip had been too hasty.
He thought Kitty would scare Barbara away, but it seems that it has become the reason for Barbara to stick to him instead.
As Henry pondered this, he returned to the vicinity of the stream. He whistled, and Kitty immediately rushed out from not far away, with the air of a mountain bandit descending from the mountain, a dead Rabbit Armor dangling from her mouth.
Kitty came to Henry's feet, put down the Rabbit Armor in her mouth, and nudged it with her front paw. She looked just like she was chasing B at home, then letting go, hoping it would keep running.
Judging from this situation, Henry knew he had misjudged something again.
I thought that by keeping Kitty away from other Tiger and preventing her from learning hunting skills, her instinct to kill should be effectively suppressed.
However, in order to reduce the number of times BB needs to be repaired, he not only repaired the broken core robot time and time again and made it with harder materials, but also kept adding evasion modes and items.
The design of the suction cup arrow combined with the grappling hook gun and the rope looper allows BB to move in three dimensions, giving it even more ways to dodge Kitty.
It seems this actually honed Kitty's chasing skills, indirectly enhancing her hunting abilities. Rabbit Armor, small animals about the same size as BB, were no match for the Tiger's pounce and bite when Kitty tried to play.
This is really a headache.
Picking up the dead Rabbit Armor, Kitty's expression and movements were like someone who had ruined a BB and wanted Henry to fix it as soon as possible. It seemed this Tiger thought he could bring the Rabbit Armor back to life.
Indeed, dangerous wild animals remain dangerous no matter how they are raised. They won't turn into domestic cats.
A helpless Henry picked up the dead Rabbit Armor, intending to roast it for dinner. However, he wouldn't give the Rabbit Armor to Kitty; she'd have to eat the venison instead. He couldn't let her develop the habit of eating animals she had killed.
Henry scratched the tiger's head and, imitating the Tiger, let out a few roars.
Come with me, let's go eat.
"Roar."
: good.
Since the Tiger Translator has been successful, Henry naturally didn't forget to learn some commonly used Tiger Language. Otherwise, when he's out in the world without a translator, wouldn't he be talking to a brick wall again?
Henry carried a deer on his back, a Rabbit Armor by his arm, and a Tiger at his feet as he walked out of the woods.
On the other side of the creek, Barbara had already gathered quite a bit of firewood, some long and some short. She just didn't have the right tools.
Cut down the longer pieces of wood.
Those long logs happened to be able to be made into racks to hang the deer and bleed them, and then used to make simple grills.
Seeing the man and tiger return, Barbara smiled happily and said, "You're back so quickly. It couldn't all be Kitty's doing, and you were just reaping the benefits?"
Ah, you little vixen, you don't even know what others are up to. If you let Kitty go on her hunt, you'd be hanging up and bleeding her dry by now. You know that?
