Nick Fury's Suspicion
There are many types of excellent secret agents, and Nick Fury at this time was the kind of manipulator who was easy to approach and could win people's hearts.
This isn't meant to be derogatory; I just want to praise the other person's excellent social skills. Few people dislike a stranger at first glance, unless that person is inherently racist and dislikes Black people.
Although the commotion inside the bar made Barbara want to rush in, Henry calmed her down, and the two quietly crept to the window to spy on what was happening inside.
The commotion just now wasn't because Nick Fury and the other party had broken up. Rather, for some unknown reason, the neon sign inside the bar was smashed.
The target had his back to the window, so the two spies made eye contact with Nick Fury. There was no communication between the people inside and outside the window; Black Nick Fury acted as if he didn't see them and continued talking to the woman opposite him as usual.
Seeing this, and since no conflict had occurred, the two wisely and quietly withdrew.
Once inside the blind spot by the window, Barbara asked in a low voice, "What just happened? Was it one of those Kree Starforce weapons?"
Henry tilted his head, looking bewildered, and didn't give a direct answer. But in truth, that Photon Blast had also shocked this Kryptonian.
The only external energy attacks he's seen so far, besides his own Heat Vision, are Cyclops's Optic Blast from X-Men.
Although they should be classified as forms of energy attacks, they all carry kinetic energy and can send people flying. This phenomenon, which completely defies the rules of physics, leaves physicists at a loss for explanation.
But Captain Marvel's Photon Blast goes a step further. It's like a near-tangible battering ram, destroying everything with immense kinetic energy. In comparison, the intense heat that melts objects is merely secondary.
Moreover, in Henry's super vision, when the one inside used her power, she was like a high-energy luminous body, dazzling and hard for him to look directly at.
However, this energy, which should have been concentrated in the arm of the launcher, dissipated in the process. This shows that its ability is restricted, or that she herself is not yet able to use it flexibly.
The Kree must have done something to her.
Henry guessed this based on his memory of the movie plot.
In reality, Henry did indeed see a strange, unidentified device on the back of the other person's neck.
Should they help her break the seal? Or continue to stand by and watch? The troubled Kryptonian was thinking about how to benefit from this situation, or simply increase his favor with her.
Anyway, you definitely won't directly tell them that the thing on the back of their neck is a limiter made by the Kree. Then a notification will pop up saying their favorability has increased by 100.
"They're out!" Barbara reminded Henry, who was deep in thought.
As Nick Fury walked out of the bar, he waved to the two men and said, "These are our partners, Agent Morst and Agent Brown."
Nick Fury introduced the two men, "This is Vers, from the Kree Starforce, who have come to track down our common enemy, the Skrulls."
"We're heading to the Air Force base where Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. is located. But it's a classified facility, so Bobbie and Henry, you two will stay outside as backup. Only Vers and I will enter the base."
"No problem," Henry, who was seated at the back, replied directly.
The reason Henry didn't go up to greet them was that the self-proclaimed noble and great Kree warrior looked down on him and Barbara's immature and inexperienced appearance, fresh out of school.
They didn't utter a single word throughout; Nick Fury was the only one who introduced them. A nod was all it took to be considered an introduction.
Henry, who had no intention of building a relationship, certainly wouldn't be so eager to please someone who was being snubbed. After agreeing to the arrangements, he returned to his car.
Seeing Barbara's somewhat bewildered expression, Nick Fury said, "Bobbie, you ride with Henry. I'll take Vers; we'll go straight to the base."
"Yes, sir."
Four people in two cars, off immediately.
The reason Nick Fury arrived at Pancho Bar a step earlier than Vers, even though he arrived a step later, was because he was familiar with the route.
This time, Nick Fury knew exactly where he was going to the Air Force base for Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S.. He drove off without stopping, taking detours, or turning back.
Furthermore, Vers would go to Pancho Bar to look for clues about Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. based on his memory, precisely because the bar was very close to the Air Force base of Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S., which is why pilots would occasionally come here to drink and have fun, and leave commemorative photos.
They hadn't driven far when, as they passed a small hill, the car in front of them slowed down and pulled over, its hazard lights flashing. Henry floored the gas pedal and pulled up alongside Nick Fury's car.
Nick Fury, rolling down the car window, shouted, "The Air Force base is just ahead. Henry, you and Bobbie stay here and provide support. Bobbie, do you have a two-way pager?"
Barbara, in the passenger seat, pulled something from her pocket. "Is this it? It was issued by the station." Because of its special purpose and lack of tracking capabilities, she hadn't even considered discarding it after being shot by her own men.
"Yes. We can't use cell phones here because there's no signal. The pagers issued by the station take a special route and still work. I'll contact you using the pager if anything happens."
"Yes, sir."
After giving his instructions, Nick Fury drove away. Henry, as instructed, moved the car behind the hill and hid it.
As the two drove away, Vers asked in surprise, "Was there a Tiger in the back seat of that car just now?"
Nick Fury chuckled, "Its owner insists it's Tabby Cat named Kitty."
"Tabby Cat? Are all the cats on your planet that big?"
"I have a question, on your Hala..."
Vers interrupted Nick Fury, correcting him, "There is no Hala. Our homeworld Hala, and the main inhabitants are the Kree."
"Alright. Then I'll ask again, on your home planet Hala, or on other planets you've conquered, are there Tiger or Tiger -like creatures?"
No. Why do you ask that?
"Very good. Then how did you recognize it as a Tiger?"
"I..." Vers hesitated for a moment, unable to reply.
"Hmph, Kree, huh?"
Although they had already seen the shapeshifting Skrulls, creatures that certainly didn't exist on Earth, the woman before them, who called herself Vers, looked no different from an Earthling.
Therefore, Nick Fury does not believe that the other person is a "Kree" as she herself claims.
On one hand, it was because he learned from the files and photos in the hands of his father, Benedict Nick Fury, that the "Kree" captured by Earth were an alien race with blue skin and blue blood.
This led to questions about Vers's actions and the identification of inconsistencies in his statements.
What Nick Fury didn't know was that purebred Kree did indeed have blue skin and blue blood. However, for the sake of reproduction, the Kree had bred with other genetically compatible humanoid races, resulting in the pink-skinned Kree.
The Kree, despite their pink skin, still have blue blood and possess a unique DNA structure—an involuntary evolutionary lock. These two characteristics have led to their inclusion within the Kree majority ethnic group.
This is also why Vers never doubted whether she was Kree on Hala. Because many Kree, including her commander Yon-Rog, had similar pinkish skin.
In contrast, purebred blue-skinned Kree are relatively rare today, making up less than 10% of the majority of the population.
