Unhideable Traces
Nick Fury said in surprise, "You recognize this cat?"
Maria Rambo looked at the name tag on the orange cat's collar and, sure enough, it was the one she recognized. She petted it and said, "That Goose belongs to Dr. Lawson."
"Ever since the doctor's accident, no one has been able to find it. It's only occasionally spotted in the base. When the doctor was still around, Carol was very close to the Goose. Do you remember that?"
This question was posed by Maria Rambo to Vers, a member of the Kree Starforce.
At this moment, Nick Fury seemed to realize why the cat had suddenly appeared at the base and become friendly with them. The Goose wasn't sticking close to him, the Old Black, but to Vers.
However, Vers herself had no memory of this. She frowned, tried hard to recall, but ultimately shook her head.
Maria Rambo was about to say something when she shoved the orange cat into her daughter's arms. "Never mind, you two come back with me. This isn't the place to talk."
Henry broke out in a cold sweat at the sight of the mother's actions. "You're afraid Kitty will hurt your daughter, but didn't you consider whether that cat might be even more aggressive?"
When the group arrived at Maria Rambo's house, the Black mother immediately spotted the Quinjet parked not far in front of the house. This aircraft, so out of place in the small town, could not possibly have been brought by any townsman.
Maria Rambo looked at the crowd. "Is this the plane you brought?"
At this point, Nick Fury quipped, "Don't worry, this is a vertical takeoff and landing jet. It won't damage your lawn."
The little girl's eyes lit up again, and she asked excitedly, "Mommy, can I go and see?"
It's not good to always dampen a child's enthusiasm; even Maria Rambo herself was very interested in that special plane. However, she was more concerned about what was happening to her best friend.
"Go ahead. But I still need to ask you, Aunt Carol, what has been happening these days. I won't wait for you."
"Oh, never mind then." The girl took her mother's hand, her eyes fixed intently on the aunt who had come back from the dead.
A group of people entered the house, including Henry and Kitty.
This is a very ordinary, typical two-story detached house in the United States suburbs. The first floor contains the living room, kitchen, dining room, etc., while the bedrooms are concentrated on the second floor.
Only a mother and daughter live there, and the house is a bit too big, making it somewhat difficult to clean. However, the house is very clean, and everything shows signs of careful maintenance, which gives you an idea of how hard the owners work to maintain their lives.
Everyone gathered in the dining room. According to United States custom, serious business is usually conducted in a place like the dining room. The living room is too comfortable; it's a place for casual conversation and relaxation.
The woman and the tiger kept a respectful distance, not getting too close to the still wary mother and her curious daughter.
However, everyone's focus is still on Vers, listening to her recount what happened.
But Vers didn't say anything specific. She simply began by recounting her experience of being captured by the Skrulls, strapped to a strange machine, and witnessing bizarre hallucinations.
It was those inexplicable illusions that led her to search for answers she herself didn't know she would ultimately find.
Her investigation led her to Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S., where she discovered she was also in the file photos. Therefore, she wanted to ask Maria Rambo, a former participant in Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S., for details.
Compared to her bewildered mother, Monica Rambeau Rambo, the daughter, was clearly much more carefree. Lost in her own thoughts and only focused on her own enjoyment, she suddenly said:
"Aunt Carol, we still have all your old things, including your flight jacket. It's just that I accidentally got ketchup on it once, and Mom won't let me wear it anymore. I'll go get those things to show you."
After saying that, without waiting for the other person to need it, he ran off to rummage through things.
Vers winked at the others and said to Nick Fury, "Maybe you could go along and help."
Nick Fury actually wanted to stay, but he wasn't so ungrateful. "Okay, maybe there's a lot of stuff, we'll need a few more people to help. Bobbie, come with me. Henry, what about you?"
"I'm taking Kitty out for a walk. You know, after eating and drinking, she needs to poop. It seems you don't have a litter box, so I'll take her to the nearby woods to find a good spot."
Nick Fury glanced at the Tiger lying at Henry's feet, said nothing, shrugged, and walked away.
Henry, of course, didn't just talk the talk. He took Kitty and left through the back door of the kitchen. He went off to find a prime spot to serve the Tiger's bodily functions.
Tiger don't urinate like dogs, lifting their legs or squatting. They spray urine directly from behind! So never stand behind Tiger at this time, unless you want to take a bath in tiger urine...
Henry brought Kitty out under the pretext of something being amiss because he had noticed something unusual.
Their journey from California in their Quinjet was far from smooth sailing.
The Quinjet lacks stealth capabilities, meaning that if it flies too high, it becomes subject to air traffic control (ATC). Above approximately 18,000 feet from sea level, it will be monitored.
This airspace is primarily used by large commercial passenger planes and cargo planes, which have limited maneuverability and high speeds. When a pilot sees an aircraft approaching head-on, there is essentially no chance to avoid it. Therefore, effective management is essential.
Because of the need for takeoffs and landings, the airspace near the airport is under strict control.
Below 18,000 feet, there are several levels of airspace management rules. These are all necessary measures to maintain unobstructed and safe air routes.
The airspace below 1,200 feet is considered a transition zone, where there are fewer restrictions on flying. On the one hand, aircraft that can only fly below this altitude are usually not very fast, and they have enough maneuverability to avoid neighboring aircraft when they see them.
However, it was impossible for Vers to pilot the Quinjet at supersonic speeds at that altitude. It would be like driving a supercar in a slow lane with the accelerator fully open; the driver would have no idea what they would crash into.
So they were able to fly over because Nick Fury used his special privileges to obtain a temporary airway.
If anyone fails to comply with these rules, they may be fortunate enough to see U.S. military fighter jets escorting them and forcing them to land at a designated airport. What If...? warned and still not complying, the U.S. military has the right to shoot them down. However, before 9/11, warnings were usually the only response.
Fortunately, the Quinjet jet was an experimental aircraft of the U.S. military, so it had a valid transponder signal and did not require further identification.
But if everything complies with the regulations, another problem arises: it leaves behind traceable clues.
