The Alien Who Wouldn't Let Go
During the inspection, the girl nudged Henry with her elbow triumphantly. "See, the benefits at S.H.I.E.L.D.. are pretty good, aren't they?"
One phone call, and they said they'd send us back to the West Coast, and then they arranged a plane to take us directly back.
Henry didn't say much. He just glanced at the girl beside him, then at the two Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in front of him.
The vehicle sent by S.H.I.E.L.D.. to pick up Henry and the others was a five-seater SUV.
For a typical family of four, this car is quite spacious and convenient for family trips. However, for Henry and his group, with him, Barbara, and Kitty weighs between 500 and 600 pounds, sitting in the back seat, it was a bit cramped.
To control the Tabby Cat and prevent it from scratching or biting others when it's uncomfortable, Henry had to separate Kitty and Barbara himself and squeeze into the middle.
As everyone knows, this is the most difficult seat to sit in.
With a big, warm bag on his right and a sweet, soft-looking girl on his left, Henry had little to complain about. The only problem was, where were the two drivers taking him?
"Sir, could you tell me which way we are going?"
"We're heading east, into Mississippi, to Keesler Air Force Base. It's a model Air Force base open to the public, with no heavy air missions. We'll board a military cargo plane there and fly to the West Coast."
Henry, sitting in the middle, leaned slightly against Barbara, stealing glances at the position of the Sun Pharma outside the car window.
What the driver and passenger said sounded reasonable, as long as the car wasn't heading north.
Barbara was initially annoyed by Henry's impatient behavior. Even ignoring the two grown men in the front and the large Tiger in the back seat...
It's inconvenient no matter how you look at it.
But she wasn't a girl whose mind was only filled with thoughts of sex. Noticing Henry's gaze, she also looked out the car window. Even without looking, that one glance made her realize something was amiss.
What If...? they were in a city or a suburban town, it would be normal for them to take detours and change direction. But they had already driven onto the national highway, and on this old road system, going east is different from going north.
Barbara knew that Keesler Air Force Base was located on the Gulf of Mexico Coast. Their departure point was in northern Louisiana, so even if they didn't go east, they should have gone south. Continuing north would have meant they were on the wrong track.
Would S.H.I.E.L.D.. send someone with no sense of direction to drive and guide them?
This kind of reckless behavior is disgraceful to the highest-ranking secret intelligence unit in the United States official organization.
Henry quietly reached into Barbara's pocket. Not to touch her private parts, but to go around and pull out the pistol from under her arm.
Logically speaking, this behavior was against the rules. However, out of trust, Barbara did not stop Henry. Whether it was her impressions after the encounter or the observations in the report, this person was not an impulsive type.
Lowering his gun into the blind spot of the rearview mirror, Henry asked casually, "Sirs, is this really the direction to Keesler Air Force Base?"
"Yes, we'll be there soon. Please wait patiently. The passenger-cargo aircraft to transport you two is already waiting on the tarmac. We will take off immediately once you board."
Whenever they claimed that their superiors had ordered them to take a detour, and Henry wanted to proceed, Barbara would stop him. But even a rookie intern like Barbara couldn't convince him with such an obviously flawed explanation.
No sooner said than done, Henry raised his gun and shot the disguised agent in the passenger seat!
The driver was so startled that the car lurched.
Although Barbara and Kitty were thrown off balance by the sudden movement, Henry remained seated firmly, pressing the muzzle of his gun against the driver's temple.
"Please pull over, sir." The sincere tone sounded incredibly sarcastic in this situation.
The disguised agent, lying prone on the locker, had revealed his Skrulls identity. His distinctive green skin and pointed ears made it impossible to mistake him for a Skrull.
The agent in the driver's seat refused to stop, shouting, "How could my partner have changed like that? What happened?!"
"Your acting is terrible. Don't do it again; it's embarrassing for me. Please pull over and don't make me repeat myself," Henry warned.
"Wait, I don't know anything. Just verify my identity."
Henry had no interest in wasting time arguing with enemies who had repeatedly caused him trouble and with whom he had already broken off relations. He simply fired a shot into the enemy's left arm!
Henry then put the gun back in its original position and said in a deep voice, "You can try to flip the car. But let me tell you, doing so won't hurt me at all."
"This just makes me angrier. And when I get angry, the consequences are serious. So please cooperate and pull over to the side of the road."
I can promise I won't kill you.
The agent in the driver's seat, with a pained expression, pulled the car over to the side of the road as instructed by Henry, saying, "You've really misunderstood me."
Once the car was stopped, Henry pulled the handbrake and said, "Barbara, get out. And you, turn off the engine and get out too."
Henry kept a close eye on the driver's movements the entire time. Only after the driver got out of the car did he relax slightly and leave the SUV that had killed an alien.
The driver, who had a gunshot wound in his arm, leaned against the hood of the car, pressing his bleeding wound in pain.
His behavior actually made Barbara, who was watching from the sidelines, wonder if Henry's judgment was correct and if she had misunderstood him.
Henry, who was helping Kitty out of the car, shoved the weapon back into Barbara's hand and said, "Keep an eye on him. Where's your cell phone?"
Having her sidearm back in her hand brought Barbara a slight sense of relief.
That shot just killed an alien, which is understandable. Barbara is afraid that Henry might have killed the wrong person, regardless of whether her service weapon was the murder weapon; she just doesn't want this man to make a mistake.
Pointing her gun at the unidentified Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Barbara used her other hand to pull out her cell phone and hand it over.
Henry took the phone, looked it over from left to right, and held it up and down. Finally, he said helplessly, "There's no signal."
"Isn't it here?" Barbara peered inside. She was at a loss in this situation. "Shall we drive back?"
"No, I'll look inside the car." Henry went straight to the passenger side, opened the door, backed up the Skrulls body, and rummaged through the glove compartment, "luckily" finding a satellite phone.
Actually, he had already seen this thing through X-ray Vision.
Henry pulled up the antenna; since he didn't have to pay for the call himself, he dialed without a second thought.
