Film Premiere
Charlize Theron's film, * the Devil's Advocate *, was released in North America on October 17th. However, the premiere was held on the 13th at a theater in Westwood, California.
The reason is simple: a limited budget. Even Keanu Reeves, who co-starred with El Pacino, voluntarily took a pay cut to secure the role, ensuring the film's production costs weren't reduced and allowing them to cast an Oscar-winning actor.
As for Charlize Theron's salary—compared to the two male leads, it's a fraction of what she earns. Therefore, she voluntarily requested a pay cut.
There's nothing I can do to help.
This illustrates the predicament faced by Hollywood actresses who receive unequal pay for equal work.
However, the premiere was certainly not the time for complaints. Charlize Theron, in a red bodycon dress and sporting a sleek short haircut, appeared on the red carpet alongside the two male leads.
Because it wasn't a very lavish or formal premiere ceremony, the two male leads were dressed relatively casually.
The much-anticipated El Pacino was dressed in an all-black suit, black shirt, and black leather shoes, paired with a red and green striped tie, loosely tied rather than looking stiff and constrained.
Keanu Reeves' look was simpler. He showed up in casual attire, with a beard all over his face and a woolen hat. His signature sense of decadence has now begun to appear. It is completely different from his niche look in the movie.
The girl's look, however, was a bit hard to describe. Her bright red dress accentuated her beautiful figure, and her bronze skin and neat short blonde hair were the result of her recent filming.
But the white foundation above her neck seemed to be applied without any expense, dividing her skin tone into two sections. Then came a bright red lipstick in the same color as her clothes. In every way, she was indeed very eye-catching. Henry was already seated in the theater. Although Stark Studios hadn't invested in this film, which was produced by Regency Enterprises and distributed by Warner Bros.., it was still easy for Henry, the CEO of the film company, to get a premiere ticket.
After the red carpet and interviews, Charlize Theron sat down next to Henry. The two shared a brief, light kiss.
Looking at that boyish short blond hair, Henry laughed, "Looks like you're not any more relaxed now that filming for <Mighty Joe Young> is over."
"You're the one who found me this job. I didn't even get a few days off before I was already preparing for the next movie."
Even so, didn't you even bother to dress yourself up properly?
Charlize Theron, who is very conscious of her image in the media, quickly touched herself up and down, asking, "Is there anything I didn't do well? I specifically asked the director for leave and spent the whole day doing my makeup and trying on clothes."
Henry, as if courting death, ran his finger across the girl's face, covering his finger with a thick layer of white foundation.
"Pfft, pfft, pfft! Did you plaster your face with a cement trowel? When you get home and take off your makeup, you'll have to hit it with a hammer, like smashing a wall. Look at me, I just kissed you, isn't my mouth full of powder?"
As she spoke, she pouted again and leaned closer.
"Ugh, you damned guy!" The girl made a tiger claw shape with her five fingers, grabbed Henry's smirking face, and pushed him away.
While the young couple were playfully bickering, the two male protagonists came over to greet them. "Henry." "Mr. Brown."
The two men quickly stood up, and Henry shook hands with each of them in return. "Mr. Pacino, Mr. Levi."
El Pacino, of Italy descent, exclaimed enthusiastically, "The chef's food last time was absolutely delicious! When will I be able to enjoy it again?"
"Thank you for your praise. Chef Washington will surely be delighted. I'll have someone arrange a time with your assistant to prepare another sumptuous feast. You surely understand that good food is worth taking the time to enjoy, rather than rushing off somewhere."
"Wow, that's fantastic. Remember to contact me, don't forget. Oh, and don't mind if I bring a friend along." El Pacino put his arm around Keanu Reeves' shoulder and patted him on the shoulder.
"Of course not," Henry said with a smile. "Mr. Levi must attend."
As for the number of people, dietary restrictions, allergies, etc., these can be confirmed with the assistant separately. This Italy -American actor, who likes to make a big show and is not particular about details, is not interested in dealing with such trivial matters.
No wonder he went bankrupt later and had to take on some terrible movies to make ends meet. If he hadn't been more careful around cunning lawyers and accountants, he wouldn't have been able to blame anyone else.
However, there are benefits to being on good terms with this kind of person, because they are generous with their sharing and will not do anything that harms others or themselves when there is no conflict of interest.
Therefore, Henry doesn't mind cultivating a good relationship with this award-winning actor.
The handsome, melancholic guy next to me was in the same situation; they were all friends worth making.
After El Pacino finished talking about his own affairs, he went to chat with other people.
Keanu Reeves wasn't as outgoing as El Pacino, but he was still quite talkative. He chuckled and said, "Actually, I do have something to ask Mr. Brown."
"Just call me Henry. Or if you don't mind, I can just call you KC; I've heard that's what everyone calls you."
"Of course, it would be my honor, Henry."
"That's wonderful. Is there anything I can do to help?" Henry asked.
Keanu Reeves said, "It's actually about the France philosopher Jean Baudrillard's book, ' Simulacra and Simulation,' where Charlize made some very insightful points."
"I asked her, and she said it was mostly what you explained to her. In fact, I also have Kevin Kelly's philosophy of machines, and Dylan's..."
Evans is struggling to find someone to consult about his studies in evolutionary psychology.
Charlize Theron chimed in, "Yeah, I have the same homework. I just don't understand why making movies requires understanding philosophy?"
Henry said, "Perhaps that's the idea the director wanted to convey. He wanted you to understand it first, so that your performances wouldn't deviate from that idea."
Once Charlize Theron finishes filming "Mighty Joe Young," she will begin preparations for another film with Keanu Reeves.
This film is a classic from Warner Bros.. at the end of the 20th century, a masterpiece written, directed and produced by the the Wachowski brothers, who will become sisters one day: The Matrix.
JJ Harris certainly arranged for Charlize Theron to audition for the film.
The original choice for the female lead was Carrie Ann Moss, a Canada actress who had been working in television and film for nearly a decade.
Although he didn't dislike the original actress, when the two brothers came to discuss computer effects, Henry couldn't help but chime in with his opinion on the casting of the female lead.
It's important to understand that in Hollywood during that era, the pioneer and leader of computer effects teams was undoubtedly Industrial Light & Magic ILM), founded by George Luca for his signature film, Star Wars. However, by the 1990s, Industrial Light & Magic was somewhat diverting from its core business. That's why Industrial Light & Magic's manager Scott Thaddeus Ross, went and co-founded Digital Domain with James Cameron.
It's no secret in Hollywood that Digital Domain, the computer effects company for James Cameron's Titanic, chose to collaborate with Stark Studios.
After all, only Stark Studios, backed by Stark Industries, could afford to use a supercomputer for fun. Industrial Light & Magic was incredibly envious.
Although the visuals of Titanic have not yet been released, they are already enough to attract the two brothers to visit.
Without breaching any contract or leaking Titanic resources, Henry demonstrated his firepower and secured a cooperation agreement with the two brothers.
Then he got the lead role for his girl.
After all, Charlize Theron, who has undergone physical training, is not opposed to filming action movies, and is willing to take risks, was ranked quite high on the two brothers' list of potential leading ladies.
Despite the long planned shooting time and the need for prior training, Henry did his best to coordinate the cooperation between JJ Harris and his girlfriend.
Regardless of the reviews of the later installments of the Matrix, the first one is undoubtedly a classic, and there's no Reason to turn down a performance opportunity.
Many actresses who turned down roles, such as Madonna and Janet Jack, later regretted it. Of course, the group of those who regretted it also includes big-name actors of this era, such as Will Smith, who turned down the role of Neo.
