Meeting
Moving around in broad daylight is ultimately not as convenient as moving around at night.
Especially considering Kitty's Duck Leopard armor wasn't equipped with any stealth devices and was quite large, it was still quite conspicuous when flying over the city during the day.
It's hard to say whether it will be exposed to some nosy citizen or told to some tabloid reporter, and become another urban legend.
So the trip didn't go all the way to the Stark Studios building. Instead, it took them to a location near the city center. There, they left a car that Henry had prepared using the Little Duck, so Jack Reacher could drive himself into the city.
Although it would take more time, Jack Reacher would certainly not object to the reduced jolting on the back of the Duck Leopard armor.
Henry had prepared a beat-up pickup truck. When he started it, the engine sputtered and groaned as if it were trying to fall apart. At least all four wheels were still there, and it could move when the accelerator was pressed.
According to Henry, when you don't want to use it anymore, just leave it on the side of the road. There's no need to drive it to a specific parking spot.
Jack Reacher wasn't without his share of things from the Sheep Cave Valley Laboratory. Last night's introduction to Vampires naturally included the weapons used to kill Vampires.
A cross is useless unless it's made of silver and the person has the power to nail it into Vampires's heart.
The main ingredients are garlic extract and silverware. Ordinary garlic only evokes a sense of instinctive aversion in Vampires and has no lethal effect. Silverware, however, is very useful and can even be used against Werewolves. The downside is that it's expensive!
Traditional silver bullets are an indispensable weapon for modern Vampires hunters to kill these dark creatures.
Considering the high temperature and high speed of bullets leaving the barrel, silver plating cannot be used to replace the Negasonic Teenage Warhead, as the plating layer is very likely to be burned off during firing. Therefore, traditional Vampires hunters can only use silver ingots to make Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
It's easy to see that the cost of these consumable ammunition is key to whether Vampires hunters can take the initiative to eliminate large numbers of Vampires. But not many people can, like Blade, engage Vampires head-on with melee weapons.
Usually, when they have to resort to melee weapons to protect themselves, it's a signal that the Vampires hunters are preparing to retreat. Although they can kill Vampires with the advantage of silver weapons, they can't kill many, and they themselves will be injured or exhausted.
The Silver Nitrate Bullets and UV Bullets provided by Black Super are much more difficult to manufacture than traditional pure silver Negasonic Teenage Warhead, but their cost is significantly reduced.
Unfortunately, the equipment Black Super provided to Abraham Whistler, Blade's logistics and mentor, for producing two special types of ammunition had limited production capacity. Others who copied the equipment all produced bullets with varying degrees of problems.
When these topics came up last night, Jack Reacher asked, "Why isn't anyone supplying these devices to the arsenal so they can mass-produce them?"
But in fact, Jack Reacher already knew the answer when the question was posed. He asked something else, "How effective are these special munitions against ordinary people?"
Henry replied, "If it hits a person, it would probably only be slightly more serious than a rubber bullet. However, high-concentration silver nitrate solution is corrosive to the human body, and UV Bullets carry slight radiation. These injuries would be more difficult to treat than simple gunshot wounds."
"Therefore, ammunition specifically designed to combat Vampires will only make factories targets for Vampires. The best approach is still the mobile workshop model, which is what Vampires hunters currently operate in."
"Yes."
After ending the conversation about ammunition, Henry, still in control of the BB-2, handed Jack Reacher a standard Beretta M9 pistol: a magazine filled with Silver Nitrate Bullets, a magazine for UV Bullets, and a magazine for regular bullets.
Including the pistol's magazine, this amount exceeds the amount of ammunition that a typical police officer carries on patrol.
With a weapon at hand, Jack Reacher didn't hesitate to remove the regular magazines and replace them with UV Bullets, returning the two regular magazines to his original supply.
For him, ordinary people are manageable, but Vampires are not. Therefore, firearms should only be used to deal with Vampires.
Henry, of course, didn't say much about this attitude. That night, Jack Reacher's thirst for knowledge about Vampires was quite strong.
In contrast, Henry didn't have much information about Vampires to share, unless Jack Reacher was willing to hear some rural tales about Vampires. But that was clearly not what he needed.
So this big guy, who had suffered a loss at the hands of the Vampires, still had time to take a nap.
Considering that the young master on the far East Coast would arrive at an incredible speed, Jack Reacher, who was in the Sheephole Valley Wilderness, set off early in the morning.
Henry could only obediently wait for the plane to land before taking a car from the airport back to the film studio building.
No matter how urgent it was, there was no way to speed things up. He hadn't applied for business clearance permission a few days in advance, so this kind of last-minute trip couldn't use the VIP channel to pass through customs. He could only queue with everyone else just to get his passport stamped.
As a result, Henry and Jack Reacher arrived at the Stark Studios building around the same time. However, the true owner of the building, Tony Stark, had already been in the CEO's office for who knows how long.
As soon as he saw Henry, he asked, "How did you contact me on the plane? I couldn't find you after I arrived, and I almost went to your house and dragged you out of bed."
"Upon asking, I learned that you flew back from Sydney and hadn't even landed yet that morning. Also, it seems you've always had reservations about the Artificial Intelligence solutions in your computer."
"You don't think something like Skynet is easy to create, do you? You think having a network means you can go to space? And that the dispersed nodes make it hard to follow? Only people who don't understand technology and rely solely on their imaginations would come up with that kind of content that can only be made into a movie."
"Just considering the data stream aggregation issue, they don't think that all the nerves in the human body can be used as a brain, do they? No, maybe they can, after all, these people only have a tiny brain capacity, and neural connections are enough to handle it."
"And then there's the blockchain technology you mentioned. Do you know how much computing power and electricity it requires to make it possible? It's something that can be crippled simply by blowing up a power plant. I don't understand why you're afraid of it."
Upon meeting, he bombarded Henry with a barrage of questions, leaving him unsure where to even begin complaining.
However, Tony Stark's attitude wasn't because he didn't value his trip to the West Coast. Rather, the closer he got to the answer, the less he dared to face the truth, so he tried to distract himself with other questions.
Henry didn't answer a single question. Instead, he stood at the office door and said, "Julianne, please, three cups of coffee. Also, I have something to discuss with Mr. Stark. So, please hold off on anything, no matter how important, for me."
"Okay, boss."
