Quicksilver Joins the Battle
When the soldiers tried to confirm again by looking through their binoculars into the distance, the figure that resembled Superman had vanished.
At the same time, a series of loud noises rang out. It was as if countless fighter jets had broken the sound barrier in a short period of time, roaring out.
Superman had a good idea: to limit the destructive power to a certain level, ideally by luring the Void away from densely populated areas.
However, his cartoon character is recognized by too many people, and his personality weaknesses and behavioral patterns are also well known to everyone. Therefore, the Void ignored the flaws that tempted him and tried his best to stay in this area full of high-rise buildings.
The fight between the two became a one-sided beating, with one side bound hand and foot and the other side beating the other without restraint.
Because of the fear of causing too much collateral damage, Superman's attack angles and directions are limited. Seeing the Void this, how could he not take advantage of such a weakness?
Therefore, Superman's attacks are often blocked by the Void; conversely, the Void's attacks force Superman to take them head-on. Because if he doesn't handle them properly, a punch or kick could end with the collapse of a building.
Despite the commotion throughout the day, as long as New York City has not issued an evacuation order for all residents, some people fled when things started to look bad, while others, clinging to a gamble, persisted in protecting their property.
This is why these buildings haven't been emptied yet, and why there are still people inside. The presence of these people makes it difficult for Superman to unleash his power.
What If...? Superman were actually a time traveler in disguise, and possessed genuine Superman abilities, he would probably have already waged a massive war against the Void, fighting until the heavens and earth collapsed. Even if misfortune struck, it would simply be considered collateral damage to the numerical indicators.
He even adjusted his face shape to resemble that Superman actor, and with the psychological suggestion of this suit, the Superman in front of him, though not exactly jumping out of the comic book, was almost identical.
Superman's Moral compass restrains him, and despite being repeatedly overwhelmed by the Void, he must stubbornly hold on until he crashes into a building.
In the most intense instance, Superman was even struck by the Void, his mouth full of blood, and he was just about to spit out a mouthful of bloody foam!
However, remembering that Nick Fury's S.H.I.E.L.D.. had secretly carried out "Harvest Plan," which involved collecting blood samples from superheroes to ultimately become the Skrulls ' superpower gene pool, Superman swallowed his anger and retorted.
This action is perhaps one of the very few instances of his cautious nature outside of Superman.
Just as he was being sent flying for what seemed like the umpteenth time, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch finally appeared beside Superman, who had landed. They had both changed into their X- X-Men suits. After arriving with his sister at lightning speed, Quicksilver made sure to pull the windproof visor over his head.
She wore a peach-pink outfit with a nylon lining similar in material to her stockings, a bright red one-piece swimsuit-style suit, paired with red leather boots, red gloves, a red cape, and her signature M-shaped crown.
The Scarlet Witch lives up to her name; she looks like she's been thoroughly drenched in a spilled can of red paint, making her extremely eye-catching.
Although Quicksilver left the X-Men, he would still answer their call without hesitation when needed. Therefore, he didn't discard his X-Men suit, which offered better protection than his regular clothes during combat.
As the two women watched Superman being sent flying into a pile of dirt, Scarlet Witch remarked, "I thought the Sorcerer Supreme was so eager to find you because your intervention would solve everything. Looks like you're not so powerful after all."
Wiping the dust off his face, Superman wasn't interested in arguing with anyone, whether it was a woman or a comrade. He simply looked at the eager Quicksilver and asked, "How's the physics?"
"It's alright, but I haven't verified how well it works yet. Do you want me to fight alongside you?"
Looking at the Void that had landed not far away, the other party's appearance was gradually deviating from the image of Sentry. In particular, the black, shadow-like tendrils swayed and flickered in the darkness with only streetlights, looking particularly eerie.
Superman stared intently at the Void, answering Quicksilver's question, "Until other reinforcements arrive, you're the only ones I can rely on."
Quicksilver nudged his sister's arm with his elbow smugly and said, "Listen, he said he can only rely on me now."
Suddenly, Superman shouted, "Watch out for those dark tendrils on the ground! Quicksilver, go! You on the left, I'll go on the right!" The words had barely left his mouth when he was already in motion.
Although Quicksilver was a step slower, he still entered the realm of extreme speed with Superman, attacking Sentry / the Void from both sides.
As a speedster, although he doesn't have the Speed Force of the guy next door or the Steel Body of Superman, Quicksilver's physical abilities are still extraordinary.
The ability to withstand the impact of sudden acceleration and stopping, from the bones and muscles to the respiratory and circulatory systems, is beyond the level of ordinary people.
When he unleashed a supersonic punch while charging, aiming a blow at the Void's head, how could a superhero capable of entering the Speed Force take that punch for nothing? The Void even prepared a counterattack.
If it weren't for the attack from the other side, Quicksilver might have been sent flying. Superman came from a completely opposite direction, heading towards the Void. His punch wasn't just driven by speed, but also by his terrifying strength.
Even a superhero with the power of a hundred exploding stars wouldn't dare to easily ignore Superman's punch. Just as he could make Superman cough up blood, if he took the punch head-on, it would be him who coughed up blood instead.
There is no numerical basis for this.
For example, Sentry has a punching power of 1,200 tons and his body can withstand an impact of 800 tons; Superman has a punching power of 950 tons and his body can withstand an impact of 1,000 tons. Therefore, Sentry can break Superman's defenses, or Superman can break Sentry's defenses, based on this calculation method.
The difference between the two is more of a comparison of strength on a cognitive level. As a time traveler, even though Superman's temperament is close to that of a born perfect person, he still has his own measure of strength regarding the Sentry and the Void, and does not believe that he is guaranteed to win.
Therefore, attacks from Sentry or the Void can be effective against him.
He knew the Void about the Superman except through the comic book version of him, which Robert knew. He had no idea what this person in front of him, dressed exactly like the comic book character, was like.
This doubt prevented him from maintaining his unwavering confidence that his defenses were impenetrable. Therefore, Superman's attacks could also be effective.
Quicksilver thus becomes a significant variable in the battle between the Sentry and Superman.
Perhaps this speedster from the Marvel Universe can't actually harm the two of them. But as long as he can exert his influence, it's enough to tip the scales in this evenly matched confrontation.
Superman doesn't need to deliberately lead the battle; instead, he plays a supporting role, cooperating with Quicksilver's attacks and sometimes even providing cover.
Even so, the Void could not ignore Superman's threat. From the gradually increasing force of his punches, the Void could tell that Superman was constantly testing the limits of his abilities. When those limits exceeded his tolerance, that would be the moment of his defeat.
As for whether there is a chance to surpass it, as long as the Void cannot firmly say no, anything is possible. Unfortunately, willpower is his weakest point.
Not to mention the Scarlet Witch lurking in the distance, ready to pounce. The Void detected a familiar scent emanating from her, the kind that could kill, from an old acquaintance.
