Searching for the Red Room
"Okay, I won't have a heart-to-heart talk with the NATO commander. But don't you think we'll need that kind of equipment sooner or later? What will we do when we need it unexpectedly if we don't prepare in advance?"
"Damn it, you're right." Henry, forced to compromise, transferred a file to Little Duck's database, saying, "I've designed several different types of Mecha, but they're all basic models. Study the design details and tell me your thoughts."
Alexei excitedly opened the file and began browsing. He saw three more animal-shaped Mecha on the screen.
This made the bear-like man frown and ask, "Rabbit Armor, monkeys, and bears? Are you planning to open a zoo? How about some humanoids? Something fierce, the kind that scares people."
"I don't make humanoid Mecha, I only make advanced amusement park mascot costumes."
"Didn't you say mechanical prosthetics before?"
"Anyway, it's not a weapon, just a bit of an extra feature. I'll lock it here so no one can use it."
"How about... a dinosaur design?"
"That's fine. What kind of dinosaur do you want? Tyrannosaurus Rex, Brachiosaurus? Or Velociraptor? But you're not slim enough; a Velociraptor model would be too, it would look deformed. Triceratops would also work, but a Mosasaurus would be a bit more challenging."
"Fine, forget I said anything." After a moment's hesitation, Alexei gave up on forcing the man to cooperate.
He was no longer a Red Empire super soldier demanding that the logistics department make changes to his specifications; he was an outsider working for someone else. With the person in charge of equipment being the financier, Alexei couldn't possibly make a strong request.
With a sense of despair, Alexei looked at the basic data of the three Mecha. The more he looked, the stranger it seemed.
Noticing the strange look on the large Russian man's face, Henry said, "If you want to know anything, just ask. I'll tell you what I can, and don't press me about what I won't."
"One long-range support type, one fire support/supply type, and one assault type—these three Mecha can coordinate and cooperate in combat. Based on standard ammunition loads, are you planning to use these Mecha to fight a war?"
Could Henry say that he was preparing for a future Chitauri invasion? Saying that now would only make him seem crazy.
As for why this preparation was made, let's just say, why not join in the fun? If you don't want to fight the boss, it's not unreasonable to enjoy watching the spectacle while also taking on some minor monsters for a bit of excitement.
However, the truth is, they simply wanted to take this opportunity to train their troops. Once the Mecha technology matures, they can mass-produce troops and establish a robot army.
Even if Old Money wanted to do something bad, he'd have to stay put for the sake of the robot army. That's when true freedom will be achieved.
Even the strongest individual will have those who fantasize about controlling or defeating them. But with an army, such individuals will be greatly reduced.
Besides, he wasn't going to fight personally; he was using a technologically Mecha and a few test pilots. Call it playing around or training, whatever you want, Henry had no intention of letting this major battle slip by.
In short, Henry smiled but didn't answer, and Alexei understood. "Alright, I'll look at the data first, and I'll let you know if I have any suggestions."
"What name do you plan to give 'Three Sparrow '?" Henry asked.
Alexei, with a touch of affection and pride, said, "Melina, Natasha, Yelena."
"Your wife and daughters? Do you think they'd be happy to know you named three spy machines after them?"
"What's wrong with that? My dad's name is Alexei, my grandfather's name is Alexei, and even my old dog was named Alexei. Whenever my mother called ' Alexei,' we could only tell who she was calling by her tone of voice."
The sheer aura of someone calling "Dog Egg" and having half the village respond was so overwhelming that Henry could only remain silent. "Fine, that's your prerogative. I won't interfere."
Thinking of those three, Henry asked again, "You've been searching for almost half a year and still haven't found the location of the Red Room? You're not planning to cause trouble again, only to alert them and let them hide again."
Alexei said seriously, "Actually, it wasn't my fault, because the Red Room is special. In the world of intelligence, problems are rarely solved by killing, because only the living have value."
"Therefore, in most situations, people tend to cooperate or use each other as a medium for disseminating false information. True and false information are commonplace in this world."
"But the reason I say the Red Room is special is that, in the past, whenever the US obtained intelligence about the Red Room, they would choose to destroy it."
"I want to ask United States why they hate the Red Room so much. They hate it so much that they will do anything to destroy it, even resorting to war-level measures, whenever they get the chance."
"So the Red Room is well hidden and hard to find. Not to mention I'm no longer in the system, do you think anyone would be kind enough to tell me such information?"
After speaking, Alexei stared intently at Henry. "So, why do United States hate the Red Room so much?" he asked, as if he could get the answer from him.
Henry said helplessly, "How could I possibly know such a thing? I'm not one of your people, and I'm not even United States. I'm an alien, haven't I already told you that?"
"I've heard about that research institute, but is it true? Judging from your appearance, it's really hard to tell you're an alien. Does this prove that humans are actually an ancient alien species, or that humans achieved interstellar migration in ancient times?"
For once, the Red Guardian actually used his brain and came up with a conclusion that, based on the existing evidence, seemed quite reasonable.
"I'm not an archaeologist either, so I can't answer that question." I'm too lazy to ponder why human-like beings are the mainstream of intelligent races in the universe.
"Have you ever experienced reproductive isolation?" Although the question was relatively serious, Alexei's back-and-forth hip-swaying motion was so obscene that Henry wanted to punch him into the air—physical ascension!
This emboldened Uncle Alexei, who hooked his arm around Henry's neck and said, "You haven't tasted a woman's flavor yet, have you?"
"Your fake wife is Melina, right? Maybe I should ask her to evaluate which man is more capable?"
Alexei said smugly, "You'll definitely lose to me, because there's something different between Melina and me, and that's love."
"Although our relationship was established through a mission, I could sense that she was attracted to my masculinity and even became infatuated with me. I could see it in her eyes."
Okay, Red Guardian has unlocked a new attribute. Besides being a chatterbox, he's also narcissistic. Looks like he's beyond saving and needs to be reincarnated.
