Henry had no intention of paying any attention to the people on the ground.
If someone could be reasoned with through the law, he was willing to sit down and talk it through. But when thugs like these refused to listen, he didn't mind defending his rights with his fists.
It wasn't that he looked down on ordinary people and fawned over the elite, beating up the poor while backing down from the rich. He simply had no choice but to deal with people on their own terms.
If he could have sat down with a gang of punks who pointed guns at people and discussed right and wrong under the law, and where morality fell short, why would he have gone to the trouble of knocking them all flat?
And now Spider-Man had mistaken him for the aggressor again.
Carefully stepping around the people asleep on the ground, Henry hauled Skye out from the end of the alley. "Come on, we're going home. Today's lesson is not to hang around outside after school. If something happens, call the police. It's not like I didn't buy you a phone."
Being dragged out by the back of her collar was a little humiliating, but Skye had only one thing on her mind. "Are you going to their meeting place to see who's trying to catch me?
"Could they be working for my birth parents? Maybe one of them is a mob boss, and that's why their people tried to find me this way. If I go, I can finally meet them."
Henry looked at the girl in his grip with open disdain. "I don't mind you looking for your birth parents, but at least use your head. Listen to what you just said. That's a trash plot from a third-rate novel."
