"Robert didn't come with you?" Catherine asked.
After divorcing André Dotti in 1982, Robert Wolders, a Netherlands actor seven years younger than Audrey, became her acknowledged "life partner."
However, the two did not get married, but instead maintained a relationship that was more than just friends.
Audrey Hepburn would bring her young boyfriend to many public events. The two even met together with then- United States President Reagan.
In contrast, Catherine has been single since her divorce in 1934 and has no children. But this doesn't mean she doesn't care about her friend's love life, hence her inquiry.
Audrey said helplessly, "Robert isn't very interested in the charity trip to Africa, so he didn't really want to go this time. I didn't want to force him."
"Hmph, men. They're all eager to go to bars or restaurants, but asking them to accompany you is like asking them to die," Catherine blasted, launching a scathing attack.
Henry, sitting in the driver's seat, said helplessly to the two people in the back seat, "Hello, ladies, I was driving very well, I don't deserve this criticism. I'm injured."
"Ha, good boy, just drive carefully. And whatever you hear, exclude yourself. Does that make you feel better?"
Catherine's words remained sharp as ever, leaving Henry quite frustrated.
Audrey, however, came to the rescue, saying, "Henry, how long have you been driving? You've been driving very smoothly."
Henry honestly replied, "I've had my driver's license for about six months. Before that, I was mostly driving in those lawless areas of Alaska. I guess you could say I have a natural talent for driving."
All three statements are true, but many situations were left unsaid, which is enough for others to fill in the blanks.
Moreover, the best way to know whether a driver is good or bad is to actually ride in their car; driving experience is only for reference. Both Audrey and Catherine have ridden in cars driven by experienced drivers with very poor skills.
Some people are like those who don't know how to press the accelerator; they can't maintain a steady speed and instead press and release it erratically, making the car's speed fluctuate like a wave. Even driving in a straight line can make them feel carsick.
Catherine chimed in, "Young Henry's driving skills are pretty good. At least he didn't make this old lady throw up her breakfast driving this old car."
Henry feigned innocence and said, "Catherine, I did ask you if you wanted me to rent a car."
"Ha, don't worry, good boy, no one will mind your old car."
The third-generation DeVille, a 1965 model, was positioned as a large luxury car within Cadillac's lineup. While not comparable to top-tier luxury cars like Bentley or Rolls-Royce, it was still quite prestigious for some minor Hollywood stars at the time.
These two aging beauties have seen it all. At this age, they've reached a point where they're no longer envious or demanding. Of course, they won't complain about what kind of car they're riding in; safety and comfort are far more important.
Moreover, after learning that he would be driving this Cadillac to pick up these two distinguished guests, Henry thoroughly cleaned the interior, almost to the point of renovation.
Especially in areas that most people wouldn't notice, like smells and gaps, the Kryptonian meticulously cleaned everything to their own standards. It was almost like they disassembled the entire car for detailed maintenance.
As for the car's performance, the previous owner of the Cadillac had done an excellent job and had no bad driving habits, so the car had no major problems. This was one of the main reasons why Henry agreed to take it over.
In other words, the only flaw you could find in this car is that the paint on the body isn't shiny enough. Although it's been waxed, it still doesn't look brand new.
However, for these two aging superstars who consider themselves past their prime, this shortcoming is actually just right. At their age, they certainly don't want to relive the memories of playing hide-and-seek with paparazzi.
"Oh, by the way," Audrey pulled a business card from her handbag and handed it to him, asking, "Henry, do you know this address?"
Henry took the business card and glanced at it briefly. "Ronnie Insurance Brokerage?"
Although insurance managers also sell insurance, this profession does not stand on the side of the insurance company, but on the side of the policyholder to create a suitable insurance plan for them.
Managers may work with multiple insurance companies and will not only promote the products of one particular company.
Because the managers are on the policyholder's side, they also offer some additional services to help policyholders meet the prerequisites for a certain insurance product, in order to achieve maximum security and reduce premiums.
Audrey Hepburn's description certainly aligns with this common sense. She said, "Ronnie told me that What If...? I wanted to buy insurance for this trip to Somalia in Africa, I would need to bring a qualified security team."
"Ronnie helped me contact a security team this time. One of the reasons I came to Los Angeles was to meet with this team. If it's a good fit, we'll sign a contract."
"The security team," Henry said, a hint of disappointment in his voice.
Both elderly beauties were incredibly perceptive, their ability to read people's expressions and moods was unparalleled. Without Henry saying a word, they understood the young man's tone.
Audrey chuckled and said, "Don't worry, Henry. From the moment I saw you, this job was yours. Unless you decide you don't want it anymore."
With a beaming smile, Henry exclaimed excitedly, "How could I possibly refuse such an opportunity? To serve Ms. Hepburn would be the greatest honor of my life!"
His attitude revealed his true nature as a sycophant. He even got to do everything he could to please others that he hadn't done before his transmigration.
However, it wouldn't be entirely true to say that Henry was oblivious. He was simply reciting various rhymes in his mind, such as "You don't know how good a aunt is until you've tasted her sweetness."
Audrey wasn't pleased that Henry agreed so readily. Instead, she said seriously, "But this job won't be easy, little Henry. I'm hiring a personal assistant rather than a driver."
"The most important thing about this job is that I travel all over the world with him, although most of the time will be in Europe. Anton, who was originally with me, has been working for me since I was still making movies in Hollywood."
"But after I became a United Nations Children's Goodwill Ambassador in 1988, traveling around and attending charity events, he became overwhelmed and chose to retire. That's why I need a new assistant."
"I need to make this clear to you, this isn't just a simple driving matter. It's not that difficult, but it's quite complicated, and most importantly, you'll have to accompany this old woman around everywhere. Are you willing to do that?"
"Of course, madam. I have a bit of a talent for languages, which might be of great help." Henry repeated this short sentence in French, Netherlands, and German.
