After class ended, everyone was dismissed for lunch. Kushina suddenly felt at a loss because she had not brought a lunch.
Noticing Kushina's awkward predicament, Hyuga Matsuba pursed his lips and slowly laid out his lavish lunch.
"Have mine."
"Why is your lunch so extravagant?" Hyuga Matsuba had brought an enormous amount of food, enough for at least six or seven people by rough estimate.
"I guessed you wouldn't bring lunch, so I prepared it in advance."
Hyuga Matsuba was joking.
"Hmph, that's obviously a lie. But since you're being so sincere, I'll reluctantly accept." Kushina gave herself an out, then picked up some vegetables and began savoring them carefully.
"Wow, this is simply heavenly! How can it be so delicious?" Kushina was a little surprised.
"Mikoto's cooking is no joke! I could smell it from far away. Let me have a taste!" Nawaki really had a dog's nose.
"I'll give you one seaweed rice roll. Nothing else." Hyuga Matsuba took out the smallest one and tossed it to Nawaki.
Nawaki bounced around while eating, but Kushina suddenly found her food tasteless.
"Who is this Mikoto? Are you two close?" Kushina began probing indirectly.
Now, whenever she heard that girl's name, Kushina felt strange. For some reason, she disliked the girl in her heart, even though she had never seen what she looked like.
"You'll understand when she gets here. We're the best, closest people to each other." Hyuga Matsuba said as he took big bites out of a rice ball.
Kushina frowned tightly. After taking a few more bites of vegetables, she threw down her chopsticks and glared. "I'm not eating anymore."
"You've barely eaten anything. Can you get full like that?" Hyuga Matsuba found it unbelievable, but Mikoto had not seemed to eat much before either. It seemed girls just ate less.
But that was not the case at all. Kushina was both jealous and angry, and she had practically filled herself up with those feelings.
Yet she did not know why she was acting this way. There was clearly nothing between them, but she still felt inexplicably angry and jealous.
As she silently watched Hyuga Matsuba devour the food like a whirlwind, Kushina's eyes nearly popped out of her head. His appetite was anything but ordinary.
"Why are you staring at me? It's not like I'm eating your family's rice."
"Why do you always sound like you're itching for a fight?" Kushina's eyes burned with anger. Ever since she entered this classroom, he had made her angry so many times.
Lunch break soon ended, and the afternoon classes began. Since two new students had joined the class, the teacher needed to explain how practical lessons worked to them, while everyone else was free to do as they pleased.
"Matsuba, I can use Water Style: Water Severing Wave proficiently now. Want me to show you?" Nawaki came over again.
"Why are you so weird? Why do you keep coming to me? Don't tell me you really like boys? Go cool off somewhere. I don't want to watch you perform!"
Hyuga Matsuba hurriedly ran away.
"You just like playing with girls. I'm not talking to you anymore." Nawaki stormed off and went to show off his skills to the other students.
But this time, it was no joke. His demonstration was a success and had quite an impressive effect, producing water like a small river that spread across most of the Training Ground.
The teacher naturally punished him. Nawaki was cleaning up now, looking utterly pitiful.
"School is so boring." Having just finished training, Hyuga Matsuba was listless and had no idea what to do.
But Hyuga Matsuba had no intention of skipping grades or joining any organization. Organizations usually had troublesome rules and regulations, and he liked a free life.
During this time at school, he could steadily improve himself. By the time all the courses were over, he would already be an expert according to his plan.
After graduation, even if someone on Madara Uchiha's level came looking for trouble, Hyuga Matsuba would not worry. He might even be able to get rid of them.
But the chances of success were not very high. Even though Madara Uchiha was old now, Hyuga Matsuba could not underestimate him. He had far too many tricks up his sleeve.
"Enjoy the process of refining. I'm quite satisfied with such a comfortable life." Sunlight fell over Hyuga Matsuba, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
This was far better than his life in the other world, where he had worked every day and stayed endlessly busy.
Hyuga Matsuba rested until school was over, then stood up, brushed the dust from himself, and set off home alone.
When he entered the house, dinner was already on the table, and Mikoto was waiting nearby.
Hyuga Matsuba smiled at Mikoto, set down his schoolbag, and prepared to enjoy dinner.
After filling his stomach, Hyuga Matsuba shared with Mikoto some trivial matters from the day, including the two new classmates.
"Hm? Is Uzumaki Kushina very cute?" Mikoto asked with her head tilted. Her lips were clearly curved upward, yet her aura was incomparably cold.
"Is Mikoto getting jealous?" Hyuga Matsuba swallowed. It was his first time witnessing such a scene, and it made him truly nervous.
"How could she compare to you? You're the prettiest girl in the entire world." Matsuba said nervously. A woman's jealousy was no laughing matter. Sigh, women really are women.
"Hm? What do you think would happen to you if I repeated what you just said to Sister Tsunade?" Mikoto smiled even more brightly, but her words were full of traps.
"Mikoto, how can you be like this? You used to be so understanding!" Hyuga Matsuba broke out in a cold sweat and forced himself to speak.
"Haha." Mikoto was amused. Then she slowly said, "As long as you know what place I hold in your heart, I don't ask for anything else."
"How could that be? You are absolutely the most important person in my heart." Hyuga Matsuba looked at Mikoto with complete seriousness and spoke with utmost sincerity.
"Hm? Are there other people in your heart who are also important?"
"I—"
"Fine, I was only saying it casually. But if you really don't keep me in your heart, I'll make you regret it." Mikoto looked casual on the surface, but her tone was extremely firm.
"Right now, I'm the only one by your side. How could I not keep you in my heart? We'll always be together." Hyuga Matsuba spoke softly.
As he spoke, he touched his eyes. In this world, immortality was a piece of cake for him, someone who possessed the Tenseigan.
Because the Tenseigan could manipulate space and time. Although he had not yet figured out the techniques for controlling time, once he learned them, he could use Time Stop. Wouldn't that mean he could live forever?
That being the case, whether for himself or for others, Hyuga Matsuba needed to train hard and improve his abilities. Perhaps then he could understand sooner how to manipulate time.
Mikoto fell silent and looked sweetly and quietly at the boy before her.
"Have you read through the notebook I gave you before? Then I'll explain the techniques inside it to you."
"Okay!" Mikoto readily agreed, prepared to listen carefully as this little teacher gave his lesson.
