Background / History
During the Chaos Era, Pangu was the foremost Chaos Demon God, capable of overpowering the other Chaos Demon Gods alone and standing only a step from the Great Dao Realm. Despite initially caring only for his own survival, he was bound by the Great Dao’s karma and the unavoidable Great Trend to carry out World Creation. 57 138 146
Foreseeing the Gate of Taboo as a threat he could not defeat directly, Pangu prepared a contingency during the opening of the heavens. He split himself, deliberately intensified the Chaos Great Tribulation to create an opening for the Gate of Taboo, and allowed a counterpart—later called the Foreign Pangu—to emerge. Pangu then suppressed and exchanged places with that counterpart, severing their connection and concealing their shared identity. 147
After World Creation destroyed his physical body, a wisp of Pangu’s True Spirit entered the Primordial Era and assumed the identity of Zhen Yuanzi. From Wanshou Mountain’s Wuzhuang Temple, he acted as Shi Chen’s subordinate while covertly observing the Gate of Taboo and advancing his own plans. 63 104
Tang Xuan eventually exposed Zhen Yuanzi as Pangu. Pangu then ceased concealing his identity from Tang Xuan’s allies, though he continued using deception against Shi Chen, the Gate of Taboo, and other hostile forces. 61 104
Appearance
Pangu usually conceals himself through the elderly, jovial appearance of Zhen Yuanzi. Once exposed, his bearing shifts sharply from deferential restraint to the confident and imposing presence associated with the former strongest being of Chaos. 61 63
- Zhen Yuanzi guise — an aged, smiling, seemingly harmless cultivator based at Wuzhuang Temple. 63
- True form — vast enough that his feet tread the Earth while his head reaches into the universe; even the Primordial Continent barely contains him. 157
- Staged corrupted state — while feigning control by the Gate of Taboo, his true form was covered in black energy, flesh buds, and strange runes, with blood-red eyes. 157 159
Personality
Pangu was notoriously arrogant during the Chaos Era, treating the other Chaos Demon Gods as beneath him and leaving many of them with lasting hostility. 61
Behind that arrogance, he is highly patient, suspicious, and calculating. He refuses to underestimate the Gate of Taboo, assumes its apparent weaknesses may conceal deeper contingencies, and willingly spends vast periods preparing layered schemes. 130 147
His primary motivation is survival and resistance to control rather than simple altruism. Although he acknowledges that he and other Primordial beings are pieces in Senior River God’s greater plan, he accepts that role if it gives him a viable path to strike back against the Gate of Taboo. 146 154
Abilities & Skills
World Creation and Primordial Origin
Pangu created the Primordial Era under the Great Dao’s mandate. His body, Dao Fruit, and Origin became integrated with the Primordial Continent after World Creation. 146 159
- Can gather his dispersed Origin from throughout the Primordial Continent. 115 159
- Can use Pangu’s heart, located at Buzhou Mountain, to regulate and restore his Origin. 159
- Can draw upon the ultimate Dao imprints connected to the Twelve Ancestral Witches. 159
- World Creation was not entirely voluntary; Pangu was compelled by the Great Trend and the karma he had accepted from the Great Dao. 146
Avatars, True Spirit, and Concealment
Pangu’s survival plan relies on dividing, disguising, and concealing aspects of himself.
- A surviving wisp of his True Spirit became the Zhen Yuanzi avatar. 104
- Tang Xuan states that the native Pangu can “appear anywhere,” making his location a matter of choice rather than fixed residence. 58
- He severed his link to the Foreign Pangu and erased the latter’s knowledge of their connection until they met again. 147
- He can disguise his intentions convincingly enough to manipulate Shi Chen while posing as a loyal subordinate. 63
Martial Dao System
Pangu developed the Blood Essence Martial Path, a body-centered cultivation system that treats physical strength as its foundation and uses Qi and Divine Power to command that body. 131 135
- The Blood Essence Martial Path emphasizes essence as its core and Qi as its support. 135
- Pangu merged his system with the Foreign Pangu’s Human Immortal Martial Dao. 131 135
- Their completed Martial Dao System became the highest-ranked High-tier System in the Primordial Era. 145 146
- Its elevated status enabled Pangu to begin breaking the seals obstructing memories related to the Gate of Taboo. 146
Authority and Memory Investigation
Pangu possesses an unspecified Authority capable of interacting with deeply hidden taboo traces.
- He detected a mysterious portal imprint embedded within the Foreign Pangu’s True Spirit. 147
- By suppressing the imprint with his Authority, he began recovering obscured information concerning the Gate of Taboo. 147
- The Foreign Pangu’s incomplete memories are tied to secrets deliberately hidden by the Gate of Taboo. 130 147
Strategic Deception
Pangu repeatedly turns enemy assumptions into traps.
- He used his identity as Zhen Yuanzi to mislead Shi Chen and maintain contact with the Gate of Taboo. 63 104
- He cooperated in a plan that intentionally exposed “Zhen Yuanzi” as Pangu, drawing the Gate of Taboo into mobilizing its controlled forces. 112 113
- He feigned being controlled by the Gate of Taboo, using its attempt to empower him as an opportunity to lure its forces into the Primordial Era. 157 159
- He openly acknowledges that his long-term goal is to retaliate against the Gate of Taboo rather than merely escape it. 147 159
