History

Decline at Ganyang Mountain

The Ji Family was a seven-hundred-year-old Foundation Establishment family and one of Nanning Prefecture's three major families. Before Ji Haoyuan's breakthrough, however, its influence and industries contracted, its members received fewer resources, and it had already sold Taiping Mountain's Tier 1 high-grade fire-element Spiritual Vein to the Zhang Family at a low price. The clan secretly arranged for some members to leave in batches as a safeguard against extinction. 1 8

Its position became especially precarious after Old Ancestor Ji Bochang suffered severe injuries and lost much of his remaining lifespan. The family spent nearly half of its resources to secure a second Foundation Establishment Pill for Ji Haoyuan; failure would have left it unable to obtain a third and likely forced it out of the ranks of Nanning Prefecture's major families. 1

While Ji Haoyuan entered death seclusion, Ji Bochang and Clan Leader Ji Yunfan prepared for the possibility of abandoning businesses and ordinary members to preserve the core clan. 3

Revival under Ji Haoyuan

Ji Haoyuan's successful Foundation Establishment changed the family's position. Ji Bochang transferred his accumulated Spirit Stones, pills, Talismans, and magical artifacts to him, expecting him to become the family's future protector. Ji Haoyuan in turn supplied his Foundation Establishment insights and a corrected version of the Blazing Fire True Art. 6

The attack on Luohe Market Town became the family's first public test after his breakthrough. Ji Haoyuan defeated the attackers, including Sun Renzheng, and ordered their corpses displayed outside the market town to restore deterrence. The Sun Family's cultivation-art inheritances and a Ten-Year Pill were seized afterward, strengthening the Ji Family's foundation and extending Ji Bochang's prospects. 8 12

Ji Bochang later formally gave Ji Haoyuan authority to decide the will of the entire family during the dispute over the Cloud Iron Ore Vein. 18

Expansion through the Han Family conflict

The discovery of the Cloud Iron Ore Vein near North Ridge Valley brought the Ji Family into conflict with the Han Family of Danyang Prefecture. The vein was valuable not only for Cloud Iron used in magic artifacts, but also for its potential Cloud Crystal deposits, a Second-Order material for spirit artifacts and formations. 17

After Han Penghu's group attempted to ambush Ji Haoyuan and Ji Bochang, the Ji Family convened its highest Elder Council and launched a full assault on the Han Family. Ji Haoyuan broke the Han Family's Mountain Protection Array and killed its patriarch, Han Pengfeng; the surviving Ji Family forces then exterminated the clan. 50 53

The victory brought the Ji Family major holdings, including three marketplaces, two spirit mines, shops, the Taiyin Spirit Copper Mine, and Cloud Cave Mountain. 54

Relocation and later growth

After Ji Haoyuan reached Golden Core, he determined that Ganyang Mountain lacked the resources to support a Golden Core family. He therefore relocated part of the clan to Heaven Piercing Valley's Third-Order Spirit Land while retaining Ganyang Mountain and Cloud Cave Mountain as Branch Courtyards. 133 135

Ji Yunfan remained at Ganyang Mountain to manage the old grounds, while Ji Bochang accompanied the main group to Heaven Piercing Valley. Outstanding descendants from the branch courtyards could later be sent to Heaven Piercing Valley for cultivation. 135

By Ji Haoyuan's later return, the Heaven Piercing Valley territory had expanded to more than ten times its previous size and was surrounded by several large marketplaces. 183

Internal discipline at Maple Leaf Market Town

Rapid growth created governance problems. Ji Haoyuan discovered that Ji Wangchuan and Guest Elder Yao An had recruited outlaws and used them for criminal activities in Maple Leaf Market Town. 283

Ji Qingfei and Ji Yunfan apologized to the victims, granted them a Tier 1 high-grade Cave Mansion, and offered Spirit Stones and pills as compensation. Ji Wangchuan, Yao An, and their accomplices were executed; Ji Bochang removed the authority of internal dissenters who opposed the punishment. The decisive action increased security and drew more cultivators to Ji-controlled market towns and Immortal Cities. 285 286
