Background / History
The Myriad Laws Sacred Land was formerly known as the Myriad Laws Heavenly Sect. It had once fallen from Sacred Land status due to the Divine Ruins, but a reviving patriarch eventually turned the situation around and attained Mahayana, allowing the sect to rise again as an eighth-rank Sacred Land 496 501 506.
The sect retains long-standing ties to the Southern Wasteland Domain. Yanfa Sect's founding patriarch originally came from the Myriad Laws Heavenly Sect before establishing his lineage in the Southern Wasteland after being severely injured by an Outer Realm Enemy 232. Ancestor Tianyuan also left a Dao lineage in the Southern Wasteland, whose later inheritors were uncertain whether the Sacred Land would recognize them 375 376.
Ji Haoyuan's party learned of the sect's elevation while gathering information on Lingya Island. The discovery transformed their goal from locating the old Myriad Laws Heavenly Sect into seeking entry to a Mahayana-backed Sacred Land 376 377.
Ji Haoyuan's Entry
Ji Haoyuan traveled directly to Myriad Laws Sacred Mountain rather than waiting for the public recruitment assembly. His Elder Token resonated with the mountain gate's restrictions, allowing him to enter and drawing the attention of several Late Deity Transformation Great Venerables 385.
After declaring himself a disciple of Ancestor Tianyuan, Ji was received cautiously while the elders deliberated on his admission. Chongming Hall ultimately recognized his identity and granted him ordinary inner-disciple status 386 388.
Territory
Myriad Laws Sacred Mountain is protected by entry restrictions that prevent cultivators without the proper status from entering. Its surroundings contain spiritual springs, waterfalls, spiritual flora, immortal beasts, spirit birds, and Dao sounds that can cleanse a listener's heart 385.
Within the mountain gate, spiritual peaks rise beneath dense spiritual clouds, with flying waterfalls, Cave Mansions, and Tier 5 spirit veins. Even a temporary Spiritual Peak provided to Ji Haoyuan possessed a Tier 5 spirit vein and spiritual vitality far beyond ordinary cultivation grounds 386.
Known locations within the Sacred Land include:
- Myriad Laws Sacred Mountain — the main mountain gate in Qingxuan Prefecture 385.
- Myriad Laws Tower — the site where disciples challenge the Myriad Laws Diagram 396.
- Taicang Grotto-Heaven — one of the Sacred Land's grotto-heavens; Ji Haoyuan later cultivates at Nanhua Peak within it 414.
- Illusory Cloud Peak — selected by Ji Haoyuan as a cultivation site beneficial to his allies and disciples 518.
- Immortal spring and golden lotus site — a sealed location discovered by Ji Haoyuan and Elder Wan after the inter-realm merger; even Sacred Lord Luo Changsheng was not informed of its details 637.
Organization and Status
As an eighth-rank Sacred Land, the Myriad Laws Sacred Land is a Mahayana-level power. Its leadership includes a Sacred Master, Saint Monarchs, Heavenly Monarchs, Grotto-Heaven lineages, elders, stewards, and disciples of several ranks 376 401 588.
- Sacred Master Luo Changsheng — the current Sacred Master who directs major operations and strategic deliberations 518 588.
- Saint Monarch Lingyuan — a Mahayana Grand Elder who defends the Sacred Land's interests and mountain gate 575 639.
- Saint Monarch Beidou — a Mahayana defender who remained to guard the Sacred Land during the Divine Ruins crisis 520 521.
- Taixu Bai — Mahayana cultivator and Ji Haoyuan's master; he has repeatedly protected the Sacred Land from outside pressure 575 576.
- Grotto-Heaven chiefs — influential disciples and leaders within the Sacred Land; Ji Haoyuan later holds this status 459.
True disciples possess authority nearly equal to external-affairs elders. Ji Haoyuan's elevation was announced by six chimes of the Golden Bell, after which stewards who attempted to order him on a mission were unaware of the status difference 402.
Inheritances and Facilities
Myriad Laws Diagram
The Myriad Laws Diagram is the Sacred Land's central trial and Dao-comprehension treasure. Disciples enter it through the Myriad Laws Tower and face ten trials; passing all ten can directly grant true-disciple status 388 396.
Its true purpose is the comprehension of the boundless Dao of Transformation rather than merely overcoming trials through clever methods. Those who seek shortcuts fail to grasp its essential meaning 400.
- It can reconstruct challengers after fatal damage suffered within its trials 398.
- It enabled Ji Haoyuan to comprehend the Formless Thousand Transformations True Scripture 398.
- Its artifact spirit appears as the Gray-robed Elder, later identified as Elder Wan 400 627.
- It is an immortal treasure capable of defending the entire Sacred Land when its Mountain Protection Array fails 627.
Seven Great True Canons
The Sacred Land's true direct core legacy consists of cultivators who have cultivated one of its Seven Great True Canons. These inheritances lead directly to Mahayana and can support further cultivation on the immortal path 400.
- Formless Thousand Transformations True Scripture — one of the Seven Great True Canons, comprehended by Ji Haoyuan through the Myriad Laws Diagram 398 400.
- Cultivators who possess a True Canon are regarded as fundamentally distinct from ordinary “core legacies” who lack one 400.
- A direct-line true disciple who comprehends a True Canon may choose a Heavenly Monarch or Mahayana cultivator as master 401.
Mountain Protection Array
The Sacred Land maintains a powerful Mountain Protection Array that evolves formation diagrams, divine inscriptions, and Dao laws across its territory 626.
- It was sufficient to shield the mountain gate during the early stages of the immortal siege 626.
- Three Immortals, including Cangwu Immortal and Immortal Shang Zhen, later breached it with overwhelming force 627.
- Elder Wan revealed the Myriad Laws Diagram's true body to protect the sect after the array's collapse 627.
Recruitment
The Myriad Laws Sacred Land periodically opens its gates to recruit disciples alongside other major Sacred Lands. A widely announced recruitment was scheduled in Qingxuan Prefecture three years after Ji Haoyuan's party learned the Sacred Land's location 377.
Admission through lineage is not automatic. The elders debated Ji Haoyuan's case despite his connection to Ancestor Tianyuan, emphasizing that unrestricted admission for every descendant of former sect members would undermine sect standards 386.
