Background and History

Yanfa Sect has endured for roughly ten thousand years. Its founder, Ancestor Tianyuan, was a Void Refinement Divine Monarch of the Central Heaven Domain's Myriad Laws Heavenly Sect. After being gravely wounded by an Outer Realm Enemy, Tianyuan opened a Void Passage to the Southern Wasteland Domain, severed his own cultivation, and established the sect's Dao lineage there 154 232 233.

Ancestor Tianyuan also left behind a secret Void Passage that could lead beyond the Southern Wasteland Domain. Its precise location was initially known only imperfectly, but the passage and the sect's connection to the Myriad Laws Heavenly Sect remained central to Yanfa Sect's long-term plans 233 370 371.

The sect leader bears the Daoist title True Monarch Yanfa. During the contest for Fuya Secret Realm entry, the incumbent True Monarch Yanfa was a Nascent Soul Late Stage Great True Monarch; he later reached peak Nascent Soul and eventually Spirit Transformation 229 310 337.

Organization and Membership

Yanfa Sect controls several Tier 4 Spiritual Veins and dozens of high- and mid-grade Tier 3 Spiritual Veins spread across tens of thousands of li around its mountain gate 154. At the Fuya Token contest, it fielded more than one hundred Golden Core cultivators when Guest Elders were included 229.

The sect is divided principally between a family faction and a master-disciple faction. Their competition includes disputes over Spiritual Peaks, resources, and influence, but both sides recognize a strict boundary against endangering fellow sect members during external crises. Those who violate that boundary can face punishment even if they are Nascent Soul True Lords 156 202.

Elder ranks

• Guest Elder — enjoys benefits broadly equal to an Elder's, but cannot cultivate the sect's foundational inheritance, the Myriad Things Manifestation Scripture. Guest Elders may not simultaneously serve another Nascent Soul sect 153.

Yanfa Sect's Technique Manifestation Stele reacts with unprecedented intensity to Ji Haoyuan's comprehension at Myriad Law Immortal City, prompting the sect's senior cultivators to investigate. The sect offers him generous terms rather than attempting to seize his gains, eventually accepting him as a Guest Elder 151 152 153.

True Person Leixia brings Ji Haoyuan to the mountain gate, where he is registered, receives Tiantai Peak after a factional dispute, and becomes associated with Leixia's master-disciple faction 155 156 159.

Fuya Token contest and formal integration

Yanfa Sect organizes a sect-wide contest for Fuya Tokens, personally presided over by True Monarch Yanfa. The champion receives an imitation Fourth-Order Seven-Story Pagoda and one reasonable request from the sect leader 229.

After Ji Haoyuan wins the contest, True Monarch Yanfa personally invites him to become a formal Elder. Ji accepts, pays respects in the Ancestral Hall, and leaves behind a Soul Lamp, ending his status as an outsider 232 233 234.

Sect wars and the Minor Grotto-Heaven

Yanfa Sect's rivalry with True Word Sect develops into a major conflict amid the broader Human-Demon War. The sect suffers substantial casualties, including six Golden Core Elders during the war's earlier stages 220 225 275.

To secure a Tier 5 spirit vein for True Monarch Yanfa's Spirit Transformation, the sect attacks the White Bone Demonic Cult, seizes its Tier 5 Minor Grotto-Heaven, and establishes a Branch Courtyard there. Ji Haoyuan is appointed Courtyard Head and granted authority to select personnel and recruit disciples 316 317 320.

The Myriad Fiends Demonic Sect later attacks the Branch Courtyard. Yanfa Sect's defenders delay the assault until True Monarch Yanfa emerges from seclusion as a Spirit Transformation cultivator, turning the battle in the sect's favor 335 337.

Fifth-Order rise and Human-Demon War

With the Minor Grotto-Heaven secured, Yanfa Sect completes the Grand Unity Star Sword Formation and becomes a Fifth-Order sect 342. It subsequently deploys to Four Symbols Pass, where rival factions attempt to obstruct its entry but withdraw under pressure from Yanfa Sect's allies 342 344.

After a century of Human-Demon War, Wuji Hall falls and the Demon Race concentrates its strength against Yanfa Sect. With its elders exhausted and its defenses under siege, True Monarch Yanfa prepares evacuation routes for disciples while intending to remain behind as bait 450 451.

Following Ji Haoyuan's intervention, Yanfa Sect is chosen to lead the rebuilding of Human Race territory and order in the Southern Wasteland Domain, while part of its membership remains behind to preserve its inheritance and authority 454 458.
