Arc 1A Cage and a War

Shin navigated the Hyuga Clan’s plans for his Byakugan while Orochimaru maneuvered to gain power during Konoha’s worsening war with Iwagakure. As the fighting threatened the village, Shin and Hizashi confronted the possibility of escape, and Kitsuchi’s forces launched a rear attack.

  • Hyuga Shin learned that his Caged Bird Seal had vanished and his original eyes were destroyed, while the clan arranged a replacement Byakugan and he wondered whether he would be caged again.

Arc 2The Hyuga Coup and New Hokage

As Konoha fought the Stone and Mist, Shin exposed Hiashi as a traitor and took control of the Hyuga Clan after Orochimaru became Fourth Hokage. Shin strengthened Orochimaru’s position, killed a White Zetsu targeting Rin, and the arc ended with Orochimaru and Makoto considering how to counter Uchiha Madara.

  • Fugaku’s forces endured the Stone Ninja assault until Orochimaru and Sand reinforcements arrived, forcing Ōnoki to retreat and Konoha’s survivors to return home.
  • Shin warned Orochimaru that an unresolved spy threatened Konoha, while Hizashi offered Shin help in exchange for freedom from the Hyuga Clan’s restrictions.
  • Hiashi’s mission to escort the captured mole ended in a Mist ambush, and Hiashi later met Orochimaru, who exposed him as a traitor and left him to flee toward Konoha.

Arc 3The Village’s Shifting Balance

Shin helped Konoha handle the war’s aftermath while managing the Police Force, the orphanage, and growing tensions between the Uchiha and Root. As the Chunin Exam approached, he also responded to Yahiko and wondered whether the exam would bring trouble.

  • Fugaku introduced Shin to his family and proposed recruiting villagers outside the Uchiha Clan to fill the Police Force, while Shin anticipated another war for Konoha.
  • Kakashi, Keiji, and Hayama rescued Rin from Kirigakure’s plot to make her a Three-Tails Jinchuriki, while Orochimaru captured Obito and brought him back to Konoha.
  • Shin removed Rin’s curse mark, arranged support and training for children at the orphanage, and freed Yakushi Nonō from her Root seal.

Arc 4The Cloud Invasion

Shin helped Konoha purge Danzo’s conspiracy, then led the fight against Kumogakure’s invasion and brought Akatsuki reinforcements to Kikyō Pass. As Kushina’s Nine-Tails faced the Eight-Tails, the Nine-Tails rose with a changed aura and spoke in an ancient voice.

  • Shin received forged letters exposing Danzo’s plot with Hanzo, helped Orochimaru remove Danzo, and prepared Konoha for war with Kumogakure.
  • Shin joined Minato’s forces against the Cloud invasion, and Konoha destroyed the enemy’s teleportation array before Yugito’s Two-Tails turned on her own comrades and devastated the battlefield.
  • Shin immobilized Yugito and led Konoha’s withdrawal, then returned to battle and used a gigantic illusion to help drive back the advancing Cloud Ninja.
