His gaze fell first on the Foundation Establishment Dao Platform below, then on the Floating Immortal Sword farther beneath it. Finally, he looked up, as though his gaze pierced the thick Glazed Void and met the giant bird's Nine-Colored Eyes from afar.
There was no relief at surviving disaster in that gaze, no wild joy at being reborn. There was only a stillness as deep as an abyss older than time.
Inside the giant bird, the Myna bird's voice exploded with near-mad excitement. "He's awake! His Soul Origin has fully recovered! Now he has to rebuild his Physical Body!"
As if answering the Myna bird, the Floating Immortal Sword suddenly shuddered.
The tremor was so violent that the space around the Sword Body warped in an instant. Like a lake struck by a Giant Stone, it sent rings of invisible ripples spreading outward from the blade.
Where the ripples passed, hairline cracks appeared across the Glazed Planes scorched by the Golden Light. Countless tiny golden motes seeped from those cracks. Like dreams stirred awake, they floated free and rushed toward Fang Chen's Soul Origin.
They were his Essence Blood. After the Undying God King's Void Flame had blasted it apart, it had been shattered too finely for the naked eye to see and had seeped into the smallest fissures in this space.
The Floating Immortal Sword's tremor was like a silent call to assemble, waking and drawing together those scattered motes of Essence Blood.
