Background / History

Ying Zheng was born amid the Warring States turmoil and spent his early life in Zhao as a hostage. At nine years old, he attempted to flee Handan with his mother and Lu Buwei, but Zhao soldiers cornered them. Nameless intervened, defeated the pursuers, and offered Zheng three paths: the Sword of the Son of Heaven, the Sword of the Vassals, and the Sword of the Knight-errant. Zheng chose the Son of Heaven’s path, seeking the power to end war and protect those close to him. 115 116

Nameless escorted him to Xianyang and became his teacher, instructing him in swordsmanship, politics, military strategy, and the responsibilities of an “Eternal Emperor.” Zheng became King of Qin at thirteen after the deaths of his grandfather and father. Under Nameless’s guidance, he grew from an isolated and insecure child into a ruler determined to unify the realm. 117 173

After establishing the Black Dragon Army, Zheng conquered the six states and unified the world as the First Emperor. He swore that Great Qin would know eternal peace and that, even in death, he would become a dragon soul guarding Yanhuang. When Great Qin faced the gods, Nameless prevented Zheng from sacrificing himself, severed the Human-God Connection, and entrusted the empire’s future to him. 119 122 124 125

Following Nameless’s disappearance, Tamamo no Mae presented the First Emperor with an elixir of immortality. In the Lostbelt timeline, his pursuit of eternal peace eventually led him to discard his human body and achieve Mechanical Ascension, ruling Great Qin through the mechanical holy body known as Epang Palace. 125 305

The First Emperor commonly manifests as an exceptionally handsome figure in ornate imperial clothing, a cape, and regal bearing. His relationship with Nameless exposes his more vulnerable side.
