"What exactly might happen?"
"First, Seaside City. The first Earthling in history to join the Green Lantern Corps will be born there, and the first powerful enemy he faces will be Parallax."
"Even the Green Lantern Corps fears this enemy. If it truly descends, destroying Earth would be effortless."
"Next is General Zod. He is a Kryptonian leader with a group of Kryptonian soldiers under him, each immensely strong and possessing the same abilities as Superman."
"On top of that, their Kryptonian technology far surpasses Earth's. Destroying human civilization would be easy for them as well."
Diana did not know how strong Superman was, but for even a demigod like Shazam to praise someone as "immensely strong," he had to be extraordinary.
"After that comes Steppenwolf. He serves Darkseid..."
Diana's body trembled. She did not recognize any of the previous enemies, but she certainly knew Darkseid!
Ever since she was little, she had often heard her mother, Hippolyta, recount tales from the ancient age of heroes, when all races had united to drive back the Dark Lord Darkseid.
"Fortunately, Darkseid himself will not be coming. That's at least something..."
The moment she thought that, Dane shattered her illusion.
"Steppenwolf will discover information about the Anti-Life Equation hidden on Earth. He will report it to Darkseid and draw his attention to Earth..."
There was no need to say what came next. Darkseid would definitely make a personal trip to Earth.
With Earth currently as fragmented as it was, could it still repel the Dark Lord as it had in the past?
Diana did not ask any further questions. The future was too terrible; asking more would only make herself feel worse. She had completely believed Dane's words.
She solemnly put away the Lasso of Truth and said seriously,
"You said you formed a team? I'm joining!"
Just as expected, Wonder Woman truly was someone who considered the bigger picture.
But then she made a request.
"You two both look strong. Would you be willing to spar with me?"
When Diana said that, Dane was certain he had seen it clearly: excitement.
That made sense. She had probably not had a proper fight in a long time. Now that she had finally met two people who looked formidable, how could she let them off so easily?
"Uh... is that necessary?"
Clark scratched his head. Why did this feel so familiar?
"Fine, then you go first!"
Who knew Diana would not listen at all? She pointed at Clark, who had spoken first, and directly chose him as the first opponent.
Clark was dumbfounded.
Under Dane's gleeful urging, Clark ultimately agreed.
Most importantly, the girl had taken the initiative to challenge him. If he refused, wouldn't that make him look like a coward?
Clark was only twenty-six. His pride was strong!
Dane immediately slipped into spectator mode. He raised both hands and clapped, and the surrounding scene changed instantly.
This time, they were in a place resembling the Ancient Roman Colosseum.
However, compared to the one on Earth, this colosseum was much more spacious, more than enough for two "gods" to go wild.
Dane sat in the best viewing spot, with a parasol, cocktails, fruit, and snacks all laid out.
He even acted as referee. Pointing at his throat, he cast the Loud Voice Spell.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the first Fighting Tournament is about to begin!"
"Is he always... this lively?"
Diana looked at Dane in the stands, a question mark practically appearing over her head.
"You mean annoying, right?"
Clark smiled helplessly.
"I think he's fine."
Diana's answer was unexpected.
But this place and this setting really did remind her of her days on Themyscira, where Fighting Tournaments like this were often held.
For the first time in a long while, Diana felt the passion of battle. She tore open her casual clothes, revealing the Champion Armor beneath. Below her blue battle skirt stretched long, toned legs, while she held the Sword of Vulcan in one hand and the Divine Shield in the other.
Seeing Clark empty-handed, she asked curiously, "Aren't you using a weapon?"
"I don't need weapons."
Clark puffed out his chest confidently.
"Oh? I hope you'll still be this confident later."
Diana thought he was looking down on her, and a little anger rose in her heart.
She leaped into the air, soaring ten meters in one jump. The Sword of Vulcan descended toward Clark with awe-inspiring divine might.
Dane watched with great interest. BGM was already playing in his mind. If there were loudspeakers broadcasting it throughout the arena, the atmosphere would surely be perfect.
Acting as soon as inspiration struck was one of Dane's finest qualities. He snapped his fingers, and four huge speakers suddenly appeared inside the colosseum. Urgent drumbeats and stirring music burst from them.
It was "Wonder Woman's Wrath"!
"What the..."
Clark had intended to take the sword strike head-on, but a sudden sense of danger enveloped his entire body.
He stepped back. The Sword of Vulcan was swift as the wind, slicing through his casual clothes and exposing the Blue Suit underneath.
Clark stared at her in shock. He had just sensed that this sword could actually cut through his body!
He no longer dared to be careless. He tore off his outer clothes and tossed them aside, the "S" on his chest instantly drawing the eye.
Diana charged again and thrust her sword forward, but she was clearly just a little slower than Superman. That tiny difference was already enough for him to evade the blade.
Clark immediately threw a punch, but Diana predicted his move and raised the Divine Shield in advance.
Even so, Clark's overwhelming strength sent her flying, crashing into the colosseum stands.
Amid the rubble, Diana finally understood what Dane meant by "immensely strong." Even Hercules might not have been stronger than this.
"Are you okay?"
Clark flew over nervously.
"I'm fine. Let's continue!"
Diana climbed out of the rubble as if nothing had happened, looking at Clark with excitement.
"You really are strong!"
"You're impressive too."
Clark was telling the truth. Aside from Dane, this was the first time he had encountered someone who could exchange blows with him without suffering even the slightest injury.
Dane could see things more clearly from the stands. Wonder Woman's combat experience and techniques were unquestionably superior to Clark's.
However, her base attributes were somewhat weaker. Being a demigod had given her physical abilities far beyond ordinary humans, but those abilities clearly could not compare with a Kryptonian's.
Still, Wonder Woman had far too much divine equipment. The Champion Armor was equivalent to a wearable Bio-field, protecting her from ordinary physical attacks while also enhancing her physical abilities.
The Divine Shield could effectively block energy attacks, and it contained a rule-like property: as long as the shield remained unbroken, the person behind it could not be harmed by any energy or physical attack.
The Sword of Vulcan was a divine sword capable of cutting at the subatomic level, enough to even break through a Kryptonian's Bio-field.
Calling it the Sword of Vulcan was less fitting than calling it "Severance of All Things."
The Silver Bracelets of Submission could absorb external damage and store it. When the bracelets struck each other, they released a powerful shockwave.
The Starfire Tiara looked like nothing more than an ornament, but it could be used as a boomerang. It was ridiculously tough.
Add in the Lasso of Truth and the Winged Sandals, and she was practically armed to the teeth. Her unlucky God of War brother had not died unjustly.
Moreover, Dane knew that as Zeus's biological daughter, Diana could unleash Zeus's divine lightning at critical moments. His own lightning probably would not be very effective against her.
But Diana was not without weaknesses. All her combat skills had been learned from the Amazons, and Amazons could not fly.
So they fought by relying on the power of the earth. Aerial combat was completely out of the question because they had nothing to push off from.
Also, despite her enhancements, her absolute speed was still far behind people like Superman and Shazam.
The reason she could currently trade blows with Clark was because she was guiding the rhythm of the battle and could therefore predict his actions ahead of time.
As long as Clark seriously used his super-brain, he should quickly figure out these key points. But based on Dane's understanding of him, that was unlikely.
Because Clark was not a warrior. He would not actively seek ways to defeat his opponent, especially when the person before him was his teammate.
But he was unconsciously absorbing Wonder Woman's combat techniques, taking useful parts of them and making them his own.
So Diana quickly realized that she could no longer get through to him.
Clark guarded himself like a turtle shell, and his occasional attacks could effectively disrupt her fighting rhythm.
There was considerable combat wisdom in that, but it was not what Diana wanted.
She quickly began to feel frustrated and stopped attacking.
"This doesn't count as fighting at all!"
Clark did not think there was anything wrong. Instead, he asked in confusion,
"Aren't we sparring?"
"Clark, you fight so suck. My grandma could fight better than you!"
Dane heckled from the stands. This spar really was not much to watch.
Perhaps Clark simply could not summon any hostility, or perhaps he knew Diana was not as capable as Dane, so he did not dare fight freely like he had when sparring with Dane.
He had not used Heat Vision, had not used Freeze Breath, and had not even flown into the air to exploit aerial superiority against his opponent.
Hearing Dane's mockery, Clark grabbed a massive boulder weighing at least a ton and hurled it toward the stands, shouting as he did so,
"Shut up! I still haven't settled things with you over the speakers!"
As the boulder came crashing down on him, Dane blasted it apart with a bolt of lightning. He did not care in the slightest and shot back,
"You're going to make Diana question the Justice League's strength."
Clark was so angry that veins bulged on his forehead, and he felt his blood pressure rising.
Diana envied their friendship. She had not experienced such feelings in a very long time.
But she still issued a challenge to Dane.
"Then why don't you show me the Justice League's strength?"
Dane was not intimidated. He flew down into the colosseum, and as he passed Clark, he even raised an eyebrow at him, angering Clark so much that he immediately wanted to trade blows with Dane.
"You should go back up. This is my stage now."
With a snap of his fingers, Dane instantly moved Clark into the stands, right where Dane had been sitting. All the refreshments were still there.
Sorry, having magic really did mean he could do whatever he wanted.
With no other choice, Clark sat down and watched.
Diana assumed a battle stance with full focus. Dane struck first, suddenly firing lightning from both hands and hitting her.
There was no warning at all. It was as if he had merely raised his hands, truly catching her off guard, yet Diana still defended against it.
"That's right, this is what fighting feels like!"
In battle, one could pay any price to win, as long as it worked.
If groin strikes and eye gouges worked, Wonder Woman would use them too.
She simply would not use such underhanded methods in a spar, so Diana freely displayed her Amazonian combat skills.
Dane had already watched her fight from the stands, so he dealt with her attacks with relative ease.
Like Clark, he had absorbed some of Diana's combat techniques, but he favored offense more. The two immediately launched into a fierce battle.
