Background / History
Diana had lived among humanity since World War I, fighting for justice as one of Earth’s earliest superheroes. She fought in World War II and became a war hero, but her activities declined after the new millennium and her low-profile public life led many to forget her. She maintained a studio and followed archaeology journals while living in the human world. 5 11
As the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta, Diana is both an Amazon princess and a true demigod. Her aunt Antiope trained her in Amazon combat from childhood, making her an exceptional warrior. 24 223
Dane Davis and Clark Kent approached Diana at her studio after identifying her as Wonder Woman. Though initially wary of Dane’s divine aura, which resembled Zeus’s, she tested his claims with the Lasso of Truth. After learning of threats including Parallax, General Zod, Steppenwolf, and Darkseid, she chose to join their emerging team. 11 12
Appearance
Diana is a tall, athletic Amazon warrior with jet-black hair, long legs, and a powerful physique. Her combat attire includes a blue battle skirt and an extensive collection of divine artifacts. 12 13
- Wears the Champion Armor, which enhances and protects her body.
- Carries the Sword of Vulcan and Divine Shield in battle.
- Wields the golden Lasso of Truth.
- Uses silver bracelets, a tiara, and winged sandals as additional divine equipment. 12 194
Personality
Diana is driven by justice, courage, and responsibility toward both humanity and the Amazons. The prospect of Earth facing Darkseid and other invaders immediately pushes her to join the Justice League, despite the danger involved. 12
She is proud, competitive, and intensely committed to combat. Diana welcomes powerful opponents, trains harder after acknowledging her shortcomings, and refuses to surrender in battle. Her honor does not prevent her from using practical tactics when survival or victory demands them. 13 225 268
As a leader, Diana can be direct and uncompromising. She challenged Hippolyta for the throne not out of personal ambition, but to compel the Amazons to fight beside humanity and Atlantis against Steppenwolf. 223 225
Later, the destruction of New Themyscira and the loss of her people leave her volatile and increasingly ruthless. Her fixation on war against Atlantis is implied to have been influenced by Eris, goddess of discord; after that influence fades, Diana becomes more measured again. 432 434 449

Mictlantecuhtli’s Defeat
Diana and Dane infiltrated an underground lair beneath a Los Angeles slaughterhouse to confront Mictlantecuhtli. Diana defeated and killed the fallen death god while maintaining her refusal to attack a defenseless opponent. 36
Themyscira Throne Duel
Following the theft of the Mother Box and the threat of Steppenwolf, Diana returned to Themyscira to demand an alliance with humans and Atlantis. When Hippolyta refused, Diana invoked Amazon tradition and challenged her mother for the throne. 223
Diana fought without her divine artifacts, adapted to Hippolyta’s borrowed power from Athena, and won using wrestling and joint-lock tactics. Rather than claim the crown, she ordered Hippolyta to mobilize the Amazons for war. 224 225

The destruction of New Themyscira intensified Diana’s anger and led to clashes with Dane and Circe over sacrifice, war, and the treatment of humans. She later showed signs of recovering from Eris’s influence and shifted away from immediate annihilationist solutions. 432 434 449
