Background / History

Menma began operating under the masked name Asura. His earliest recorded attack took place at Konoha’s Hyuga compound, where he killed Kumogakure envoys who had attempted to abduct a Hyuga Main House child. He later entered Kumogakure, fought the Fourth Raikage and Killer B, and acquired a seventy-million-ryo bounty 24 64 371.

He intercepted Orochimaru after the latter fled Konoha and demanded Hashirama Cells. During a later confrontation, Menma took the Iburi Clan’s allegiance from Orochimaru and promised to address the flaws in their Kekkei Genkai 29 35 38 452. He gathered other followers, including Uchiha Hikari, Uzumaki Fuka, Kakuzu and Gato, as his influence expanded through Hoshigakure and the Land of Stars 64 339.

Asura publicly declared his intention to unify the shinobi world. The Land of Stars defeated and annexed Sunagakure and the Land of Wind, while his repeated clashes with major villages made him a central concern at the Five Kage Summit 119 371 474 519. Some leaders claimed that Asura was the supposedly deceased Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato; this was their interpretation of the evidence, not Menma’s identity 437 519.
