Background and History

White Dog Stockade

Chili Mu grew up in White Dog Stockade alongside Wu Tian, then a white dog known as White Dragon. She treated him as a companion rather than a pet, worried for him when he disappeared, and comforted him during Man Xiongmu's arrival. 10 12

After her grandfather's death, Man Xiongmu removed her from the village's immediate turmoil and taught her the Skull Mountain Tongyou Spell. She clung to Wu Tian during her grief but adapted quickly, displaying exceptional talent in cultivation. 14

Man Xiongmu recognized that her aptitude surpassed even the renowned “Hundred Days Foundation Establishment” Immortal Root, suspecting that she possessed a legendary Dao Body. Fearing that her talent would attract danger, he sought protection for her. 17

Disciple of Zhu Yushuang

A woman in red, Zhu Yushuang of Taiqing Temple, descended upon White Dog Stockade and accepted Chili Mu as her eldest disciple. Chili Mu insisted that Wu Tian be allowed to accompany her to Skull Mountain; Zhu ultimately permitted it because of their bond. 18 19

At Hidden Sword Cave, Chili Mu cultivated under Zhu Yushuang's demanding guidance. Her rapid progress came with emotional isolation: after three years of solitary cultivation, she had become reserved, detached, and difficult to read despite still valuing Wu Tian's company. 98

She completed Cauldron Forging, refined her Divine Soul, and became a Law Refining cultivator. Over time, cultivation and experience in the Hundred Thousand Mountains transformed her from a sheltered village girl into a disciplined sword cultivator. 99 118

Skull Mountain and the Northwestern War

During the Skull Mountain calamity, Chili Mu helped manage the aftermath while Wu Tian recovered. With Man Xiongmu, Chen Chunjiao, and Wu Xia'er assisting her, she organized relief for civilians, pursued remaining demons and ghosts, and dealt with the mountain's damaged earth veins. 125

She later accompanied Zhu Yushuang to the northwestern battlefield, where they spent more than four years fighting the Azure Li Witch's followers. The campaign allowed Chili Mu to gain merit, temper her swordsmanship, and advance her Law Refining cultivation. 173

Rumors that White Dragon had killed his own son deeply distressed Chili Mu, but she refused to believe them. Determined to find her junior brother in the Southern Border, she used that resolve to break through to the Dao Embryo realm. 173 174

Southern Border and Later Years

At Skull Mountain's earth fissure, Chili Mu was nearly defeated after her Li Fire Dao Body and Merit Golden Light were exhausted. A dog-headed Demon King calling himself White Dragon rescued her, but she recognized his techniques and treasures while remaining convinced that he was not truly her junior brother. 195 199 200

After learning of Bai Long'er's reported death, Chili Mu prepared to leave the Southern Border. She reunited with Silver Frost, the former Dog King of White Dog Stockade, and offered to bring her into Taiqing Temple. 203

Years later, Zhu Yushuang and Chili Mu slew the Azure Li Witch together, using the Qingli Immortal Sword's suppression of the witch and its causal connections to eradicate her demonic seeds. 443

Before departing for Great Scarlet Heaven, Chili Mu returned to the Hundred Thousand Mountains to seek news of White Dragon from Bai Qian. Her visit ultimately brought her face-to-face with Wu Tian in another identity; her appearance triggered a dangerous disturbance in the flow of future time. 444 447 448

After the Dao Sect began marginalizing both master and disciple over their connections to the Heavenly Emperor, Chili Mu deferred to Zhu Yushuang's decision to accept Wu Tian's invitation to the Heavenly Court. She was later installed as the Heavenly Lord of Meritorious Southern Bright Li Fire. 462 466

Chili Mu is described as a fair-skinned young woman with long black hair and a faint crimson radiance associated with her fire cultivation. She commonly wears water-blue dresses and carries the Qingli Ancient Sword on her back. 98 99 118
