Not long afterward, in a corner of the camp.
Inside the stone building serving as an interrogation room, Roy met the prisoner who had been brought in.
"Sit."
He pointed at the chair in front of his desk.
The guard from the Matan Special Operations Team forced the other party to sit, then left the room and stood guard outside.
"Archinila 3rd Circle Mage, junior researcher in the Arcanist sequence, illusion specialist, and Magic Battle Armor pilot Drifa, correct?"
Roy looked at him and stated the basic information he knew.
Drifa looked somewhat dejected. "That's right, sir."
Roy smiled slightly. His handsome, jade-like face showed a hint of warmth, and the air around them seemed to grow warmer as well.
"You don't need to worry. As an Archinila Mage, you're protected by the 'Spellcaster Protection Convention.'
"Your fellow Level 2 Mage Faserus once fell into my hands as well, but he was eventually ransomed back."
Drifa smiled bitterly. "Although I don't know that Faserus, I imagine he must be a noble."
He was tactfully expressing that he himself was not a noble and could not afford to pay much ransom.
Roy acted as though he had not noticed and did not care in the slightest. "As long as you cooperate properly, you'll receive the treatment and protection that Spellcasters are entitled to."
Drifa raised his head, thought for a moment, and asked, "How is Ailbaal?"
The Ailbaal he spoke of contained the meaning of "tail" in the Common Tongue used among high-magic civilizations.
Originally, it referred to the tail of a wild lizard or chameleon.
From a colloquial perspective, it roughly meant something like "my little tail."
Roy said, "Are you asking about the Magic Battle Armor pilot?"
"Yes."
"Don't worry. She's doing fine."
Drifa relaxed when he heard that.
