Because of Akhenning's reminder, Roy paid special attention to the "Xiongs Federation."
"They're a world focused mainly on Technology Side abilities, with an emphasis on interstellar navigation and psionic development?
What a chaotic technology tree."
When Roy learned this from the records, he still found it somewhat difficult to adjust.
But on closer thought, the kind of technologically advanced world he had known before transmigrating, where individuals were physically frail, was the truly chaotic one.
Spacefaring technology, biotechnology, the development of energy for individual life forms, and so on—those were the mainstream of this Magic Universe.
Even so, the world's science was likewise constrained by the bottleneck of individual beings.
Only by abandoning weak flesh and achieving Mechanical Ascension, or by uniting the minds of countless people and embarking on the path to godhood, could one completely escape this predicament.
By that stage, however, science and magic would no longer have any essential difference. They could be said to reach the same destination by different paths.
"The Xiongs Federation's greatest specialty is an ability called 'faith.' In the classification of the magical system, it should belong to a part of Psionic Ability.
"Because of this, some Archmages once believed that the psionic users among them might be suitable for becoming wizards, so they captured them for experiments.
"The result was failure without exception.
"Our apprentices who cultivate 'faith' will likewise embark on the path of their psionic users and will no longer be able to become wizards."
Akhenning soon told Roy another important piece of news.
"Do you know why?"
Roy asked.
"We haven't yet researched the reason, but some Archmages speculate that it may be related to the laws of the entire Great Universe."
"The Great Universe Law..."
Roy nodded inwardly.
This was something even more ethereal and elusive
