Background
Sophia's Subordinate
Sailen was enhanced by Sophia during her apprenticeship. Her limited Spiritual Power left little room for further advancement, and she expected Sophia to eventually transplant her brain. 37
After Sophia's escape, Sailen fulfilled her contract and took over Sophia's former body. The vessel was severely damaged, with more than half of its face corroded by acid, but Sailen regarded survival and freedom as a new beginning. 90
When Sophia departed, she asked Roy to take Sailen under his wing. Roy accepted her as his subordinate, and Sailen became his follower in Netherland. 91
Roy's Follower
Sailen accompanied Roy on the expedition for Sacred Lake Crystals, patrolling their camp and providing support despite still recovering from her injuries. Roy assured her that she would remain his follower even if he advanced to Formal Wizard. 95 96
Roy later used artificial skin and his Painted Skin Technique to restore Sailen's damaged face. The reconstruction combined Sophia's original appearance with Roy's mental image of Sailen, giving her an appearance she had not seen in a long time. 121 122
She subsequently became one of Roy's most dependable aides, handling trade, organizing materials, researching with Gari, tracking Yannis, and reporting enemy movements through a Wisp Messenger. 165 166 177 251
Bloodline Disease and Death
Sophia's former body suffered from genetic collapse, and the bloodline spells sustaining it gradually failed. Sailen's life energy and force field weakened dramatically as her Bloodline Disease progressed. 185
Although Roy initially proposed preserving her brain and seeking a replacement body, Sailen feared the despair of embracing hope only to lose it again. She eventually agreed to a transplant using a Dark Elf body cultivated from Planje's bloodline factors. 186 252
The transplant succeeded physically, but it did not eliminate the contamination affecting Sailen's brain and soul. Her new Dark Elf body also deteriorated, leaving her increasingly despondent and frail. 253 264
Sailen died from her worsening brain tumor after giving Roy the Space Ring he had once purchased for her. It contained her Legacy Letter and a map leading toward the core of the Flesh Swamp. 268 269
Intelligent Brain and Tower Spirit
Roy retained Sailen's brain for biological-brain research. After replicating portions of its tissue, he conducted a Memory Carrier Test; the cultivated brain responded, “I am Sailen.” 269 270
The resulting Intelligent Brain retained approximately 17.5% of Sailen's memories. Roy considered it a continuation with access to her memories rather than the original Sailen herself. 270
Roy later installed Sailen's brain-derived intelligence into a main brain tank and a Maiden's Skull sub-brain, allowing it to manage the Mage Mansion's library, calculate battlefield information, conduct analyses, and assist with cross-dimensional data. 330 442 468
After capturing the Nihebul Mage Tower, Roy refined Sailen into its Tower Spirit. He granted the biological brain a true soul, creating a Silver Status mechanical lifeform capable of independent growth and full tower administration. 805
Appearance
Sailen's appearance changed repeatedly as she moved between bodies and later became a brain-derived mechanical lifeform. 90 253 270 805
- In Sophia's damaged former body, more than half of her face was corroded by acid and her flesh showed signs of decay. 90
- Roy's artificial skin reconstruction restored her face to an appearance blending Sophia's original features with Sailen's remembered image. 122
- After the failed treatment attempt, she inhabited the body of a small Dark Elf girl. 253
- As Intelligent Brain Sailen, she existed as a glowing brain in a nutrient pod, connected through flowing-light silver tubes and biological mycelia. 270
- Her later avatar was the jade-carved Maiden's Skull; as Tower Spirit Sailen, it served as the focal vessel for her mechanical lifeform. 468 805
Personality
Sailen is quiet, reserved, and sharply observant. She often notices Roy's emotional changes and questions the implications of his actions rather than accepting them blindly. 179 227
As Roy's follower, she is dutiful and practical. She patrols camps, conducts reconnaissance cautiously, manages trade, and gives Athedia clear alchemical instructions when Roy's new body requires specialized nutrition. 96 166 177 212
Her long experience as Sophia's subordinate left her detached from material desires and wary of hope. Even as her illness worsened, she initially preferred acceptance over expensive, uncertain treatment. 134 186 252
Despite this resignation, Sailen ultimately agreed to Roy's dangerous transplant proposal. Her final gratitude toward Roy reflects how deeply she valued being treated as a person rather than a disposable apprentice. 252 269
Abilities & Skills
Knight Physique
While inhabiting Sophia's body, Sailen possessed physical capabilities far beyond her own apprentice-level potential. 134
- Reached Intermediate Knight strength during the apprenticeship period. 23
- Later demonstrated a Great Knight-level physique by lifting and carrying Yanila up a steep slope. 167
- Her physical strength declined severely once Sophia's body succumbed to Bloodline Disease. 185
Reconnaissance and Tracking
Sailen frequently served as Roy's field observer and advance scout.
- Patrolled the Sacred Lake Crystal expedition site and monitored the surrounding area. 96
- Pursued the remnants of the Bloodhoof Tribe and tracked Yannis. 163 166
- Identified approximately 30–50 well-equipped Orc escorts and reported their movements to Roy. 166
- Used a Wisp Messenger to alert Roy when unfamiliar experts threatened her mission. 165

Sailen could support alchemical work and manage supplies even without Roy's exceptional talents.
- Prepared preliminary alchemical work while Roy developed the Painted Skin Technique. 121
- Conducted trades for Roy, obtaining rare materials including a Dream Magnolia worth 115,000 Magic Stones. 177
- Taught Athedia how to prepare Salt of the Beasts and other nutritional requirements for Roy's Golden Behemoth body. 212
- Helped Gari document the abilities and classifications of Mimic Mushrooms. 251
Soul and Body-Swap Knowledge
Sailen's possession of Sophia's body gave her firsthand experience with the conflict between body, brain, soul, and consciousness.
- Explained that spellcasters recognize one another through more than outward appearance. 179
- Shared her experience adapting to physiological and psychological changes after a body swap. 210
- Her brain tissue and memories later enabled Roy to study memory extraction and the Mind Reading Technique. 270
Intelligence Processing and Tower Administration
As Intelligent Brain Sailen and later Tower Spirit Sailen, her role shifted from physical assistance to large-scale information processing.
- Catalogued the Mage Mansion's library of 1,839,254 volumes and selected suitable works for Roy's study. 442
- Modeled routes and located the armory during the capture of a Mage Tower. 468
- Analyzed Princess Nisa's abilities, status, and potential weaknesses. 509 510
