When Sleepless City had been shrouded by the Dome, Yorkshire had abducted many people and used Puppet Threads to create many puppet proto-embryos. Those puppet proto-embryos were, in truth, vessels capable of bearing interlayer spaces.
'Little Demon' Grak had been forced to change bodies and become the present-day Spivey because he had become a puppet proto-embryo. At the time, Nausicaa had nearly become a puppet proto-embryo as well.
These Living Threads turned those afflicted by madness into things similar to "puppets." It truly resembled Yorkshire's methods.
