After strengthening his magic capacity and finding a promising array, he returned to Promi's shop with David as Fusa and Lafitte waited outside.

• Angel told Sanders about the Parasite Maiden and the strange gray mist, and Sanders took him to Nis for a soul examination.
• Nis separated Angel’s soul from his body, and with borrowed soul power Angel released the gray mist and discovered it carried the Gravity Veins.
• Sanders and Nis identified Angel’s earlier encounter with the World Will as Spirit Stillness, while Sanders cautioned him about the risks of using the Gravity Veins.
• Sanders taught Angel about Harmonic Illusion, and Angel realized the Demon Falcon’s heartbeat had helped trigger the illusion that made him believe he was falling.
• Angel learned that Toby had won all seventeen of his matches while he was unconscious, then heard that Rhein wanted to borrow Wizard Garden to smuggle otherworldly lifeforms.

Angel earned money through alchemy, survived an ambush, and made music boxes that brought Mirror Princess a powerful illusion. He then traveled with Promi and David to Dusk Deep Well, where Promi took in a Shadow Servant boy and Angel left him trapped in an illusion.

• Angel helped Fusa and Lafitte buy the Tang saber, then sold his scythe to Lamanbell for 400 magic crystals after refusing Tesla and Kuna’s offers.
• Angel explained the Overture of Annihilation to Promi, accepted alchemy missions, and agreed to travel with Promi and David to the midyear auction.
• Saka ambushed Angel and tested his defenses, then Nalu, Kuna, and Tesla attacked him, so Angel killed Kuna and Tesla and shot Nalu as he fled.

Angel’s attempt to save Toby and the Eyeless Man at the Dusk Auction triggered a Nightmare Domain that brought dangerous beings into the auction hall. Sanders contained the crisis and told Angel he would have to bear the domain, while the auction resumed and Lydia bought the Eyeless Man.

• Angel learned that Huibidon was Duke Tebiqiu’s son, then took him to the Dusk Auction with Promi and David.
• Angel bought materials and auction lots, including Chaos Drum Beast parchment and a Black-Gold Nightmare’s Demonic Soul Horn, while Land in the Clouds drew fierce bidding and Lydia won it.
• When the Eyeless Man was offered for sale, Toby broke open his cage after hearing Gloria might be dead, and Twilight gravely injured Angel and Toby.

• Angel returned to Dusk Deep Well, told Promi he would try to inscribe Overture of Annihilation, and learned that Sanders had bought the Grudge Doll for nearly seven million magic crystals.
• Angel fought Dusk apprentices with illusions, discovered the Gorgeous Nightmare Realm within his illusion, and heard a childlike voice from the Teacup Band.
• Angel helped Huibidon reach Butler Gude, then told Sanders how he had closed the passage to the Nightmare Realm and learned that the fox lutenist and frog singer had attacked the auction hall.
