Sect Master Tongtian gathered the remaining disciples for the Journey to the West, while uncovering clues about the Formless Tribulation Realm and the real Dao Ancestor Hongjun. After Zhen Yuanzi imprisoned Jiang Liuer and Tongtian returned to Flower-Fruit Mountain, three mysterious figures attacked Wuzhuang Temple, and Jiang Liuer continued west with his disciples.

• Sect Master Tongtian killed the Nine-headed Serpent, found Monk Wuxiang, and recruited Little White Dragon as the White Dragon Horse.
• At Guanyin Monastery, Tongtian recovered the real Brocade Kasaya from the Bear Demon, who was then taken away by Guanyin Bodhisattva.
• Tongtian reunited Marshal Tian Peng with Miss Gao, defeated the Golden Beast, and continued west with the group as Miss Gao stayed behind, pregnant with twins.
• At Quicksand River, Jiang Liuer named Sha Wujing Wujing, completing the group of five before they reached Wuzhuang Temple.
• After Tongtian took the Ginseng Fruits, Zhen Yuanzi accused Sun Wukong of destroying the tree and trapped the group beneath the Mysterious Yellow Pagoda, and Jiang Liuer was captured while Tongtian returned to Flower-Fruit Mountain.
• Tongtian discovered that a palace beneath Flower-Fruit Mountain had been made from the skull of the real Dao Ancestor Hongjun, and concluded that the present Hongjun was an imitation.
• When Tongtian refused to return without Jiang Liuer asking him, Zhu Bajie failed to bring him back, but the Ginseng Fruit Trees suddenly restored themselves.
• Three identical figures attacked Wuzhuang Temple, killed the two white-clothed Daoist boys, and lunged at Zhen Yuanzi as he sent Jiang Liuer and his companions beyond Longevity Mountain to continue west.

Sect Master Tongtian uncovered hidden origins and threats while traveling west with Jiang Liuer and the others. At Flaming Mountain, he entered a concealed realm and learned that the Venerable Lord came from the future and knew his true self had possessed Sun Wukong.

• Sect Master Tongtian and Jiang Liuer broke free of the Formless Tribulation Realm’s ambush at Wuzhuang Temple, then continued west and encountered Red Boy at Huoyun Cave.
• Tongtian confronted Red Boy and Princess Iron Fan, learned that Red Boy’s origins were tied to the Rakshasa Tribulation Realm, and clashed with Bull Demon King and Third Prince Nezha.
• Tongtian devoured Princess Iron Fan’s shadow, let Guanyin take Red Boy, and persuaded Princess Iron Fan to become his Dao Companion before rejoining the travelers.
• At Flaming Mountain, Tongtian found that the flames came from an exotic domain, lent Princess Jade Face the Banana Leaf Fan, and searched for the Innate Fire Seed in a cavern.
• During Huoyun City’s Kindling Festival, Tongtian discovered that a white-haired shopkeeper’s primordial spirit looked like him and seized it, then followed the travelers into a hidden Small World.
• Tongtian brought the Black-clothed Women, their camp, and their treasures into his Small World, then examined the Interlocking Great Formation trapping the Venerable Lord.
• Tongtian studied the formation and inspected the Venerable Lord’s primordial spirit, concluding that he came from future spacetime and knew Tongtian’s true self had possessed Sun Wukong.

Sect Master Tongtian uncovered old betrayals, clashed with powerful foes, and followed Jiang Liuer and his disciples through Huoyun City and the surrounding sea. After defeating Old Ancestor Green Robe, he spared the Spider Demons in exchange for their help and discovered an ancient supercomputer beneath an island.

• Tongtian recognized Hong Yun and recovered memories of Hongjun’s deception, but Hong Yun disappeared before he could learn more.
• Tongtian fought Hongjun, completed the formation task, then defeated the young lord of Huoyun City and survived attacks from the City Lord’s forces and Thousand-Eyed Ancestor.
• Pilánpo Bodhisattva healed Tongtian, who later rescued Jiang Liuer and the others from Suihan Mountain and began investigating Xu Laifu.
• Tongtian exposed Xu Laifu’s crimes and recovered his memories, then confronted the three-eyed young man and defeated Old Ancestor Jiuyou as spacetime rifts opened over Huoyun City.
• On a sea voyage, Jiang Liuer absorbed the Fire Worship Cult’s attacks and bell shock waves, while Tongtian’s party refused the Saint Son’s offer of a shortcut west.
• Tongtian investigated the flower-covered islands and accepted Nameless One’s feast, where he discovered the wine’s intoxicant matched the flowers’ fragrance.
• Tongtian altered Old Ancestor Green Robe’s formation, and Jiang Liuer woke, killed Green Robe, and escaped the Spider Demons’ attempt to take his flesh.
• Tongtian demanded a bargain from the Spider Demons, explored an underground lake, activated and dismantled a supercomputer, then helped the demons become immortals before learning the ship would leave after the Kindling Festival.

Sect Master Tongtian and his companions found the Flower Fairy, survived a conflict over the Supreme Fire Seed, and continued west with Huoyun Jiuxiao. In Women's Country, the Mother-Child River left Jiang Liuer and his disciples pregnant, and the court's antidote appeared to make Jiang Liuer's condition worse.

• Sect Master Tongtian freed Little White Dragon from a giant flower, then fought and defeated the Dragon Emperor and discovered the Flower Fairy inside a colossal tree.
• Sect Master Tongtian completed his Flower Fairy mission and returned with his group to Huoyun City for the Kindling Festival, where Shuisheng fought Black Night and he restored the souls damaged in their battle.
• Sect Master Tongtian and Jiang Liuer confronted Huoyun City's lord, learned he was the Huoyun Evil God, and joined Misty Saint Venerable in the competition for the Supreme Fire Seeds.
• Sect Master Tongtian's team won the competition, but Huoyun Evil God tried to make Jiang Liuer marry his daughter, Huoyun Jiuxiao, who joined the group on its journey west.
• Sect Master Tongtian's group reached Women's Country, where its residents explained that drinking the Mother-Child River caused pregnancy, and Jiang Liuer and his three disciples developed swollen bellies.
• The Empress summoned the group and ordered the State Preceptor to give them antidote pills after Huoyun Jiuxiao claimed to be Jiang Liuer's fiancée.
• Jiang Liuer's disciples recovered after taking the pills, but Jiang Liuer's belly swelled further, and Sect Master Tongtian saw a living fetus inside him.
