Qian Daoliu and the others had no idea that what they were doing was practically conspiring out loud!
Lucifer heard every single word they said!
He was not a Spirit with no independent consciousness!
Whatever Qian Renxue could see and hear, he could see and hear as well.
The two of them shared sight and hearing!
When Qian Xunjie had just said they could use the fact that he and Qian Renxue shared the same life to threaten him, Lucifer had merely scoffed!
Setting aside whether Lucifer would fall for that, even their assumptions were wrong!
Lucifer was indeed one with Qian Renxue now. The two influenced each other and were deeply connected.
However, Qian Renxue's death did not necessarily mean Lucifer would die!
Lucifer had possessed Qian Renxue and become her Second Spirit not to place his life in the hands of a six-year-old child!
Still, the two of them were one for the time being.
If things truly came to that point, Lucifer would have to pay a tremendous price as well!
Their relationship was somewhat like that of Nine-Tails and Naruto.
As for Qian Daoliu telling Qian Renxue not to summon her Second Spirit, Lucifer did not take it seriously either.
He had plenty of ways around it!
If he could not even handle a six-year-old child, he would be too ashamed to go back and make a living in the Heavenly Court of Light!
Inside the Pope's Palace, Golden Crocodile Douluo spoke again. "Your Eminence the Pope, just now..."
As he spoke, he hesitated again.
"Hm?" Qian Xunjie frowned slightly, but he would not throw a tantrum at someone of Golden Crocodile Douluo's standing. "Speak freely."
"Just now, I saw the Holy Maiden outside. She seemed to have been watching the Pope's Palace."
The Holy Maiden was Bibi Dong.
"Mm." Qian Xunjie did not say much, merely nodding to show that he understood.
Qian Renxue's eyes lit up instead!
Mother still cares about me, doesn't she? Her longing for maternal love rose within her again.
Qian Daoliu's feelings were indescribably complicated.
Faced with such tangled family relationships, there were times when he was not even as capable as an ordinary old man.
Thus, the Spirit awakening ceremony of Qian Renxue, the Young Master of Spirit Hall, came to an end!
She possessed Innate Full Soul Power Level 20. Without obtaining her first two Spirit Rings, it was nearly impossible for her to raise her Soul Power through cultivation.
However, she did not remain idle.
Determined to become an outstanding successor of the Angel lineage, she went to the Archive Room to study knowledge about Spirits and Soul Beasts.
This was inseparable from the education she had always received.
"Everywhere has parents pushing their kids, huh," Lucifer remarked.
A remark was just a remark. He knew full well that Qian Renxue's efforts were different from the children being pushed back on Blue Star.
Her family really did have a throne—and even a divine position—waiting for her to inherit!
Using his shared vision with Qian Renxue, Lucifer began reading as well.
It was the perfect chance to fill in the finer details of his knowledge of the Douluo Continent.
Before they knew it, the sky had darkened.
Only after a servant informed her that it was time for dinner did Qian Renxue leave the Archive Room.
She ate dinner with Qian Daoliu.
Qian Xunjie was always busy, and neither his dining time nor location was fixed.
As for Bibi Dong, it was even more impossible for her to sit down and have dinner with them!
Though the four were connected by blood, it seemed as if only Qian Daoliu and Qian Renxue were truly family.
After dinner, Qian Daoliu carefully examined Qian Renxue's body and mental state once more.
"Mm... So far, there are no signs that the Second Spirit has affected you!"
He relaxed slightly. Fortunately, the situation was not so urgent that he lacked time to slowly search for a solution.
"For now, just remember not to summon your Second Spirit."
Qian Renxue obediently nodded, just as she always had.
At night, Qian Renxue returned to her room and, after tidying herself up, drifted off to sleep.
At certain times, Lucifer took the initiative to cut off their sensory connection.
He was merely styled like a great villain, not a natural-born pervert.
It was late at night, yet someone still sat in the supreme seat within the Pope's Palace.
Only two lamps were lit in the hall, making it seem somewhat dim.
Qian Xunjie rested the left side of his face against his hand, while his right arm lay on the armrest and his index finger tapped lightly.
He gazed quietly outside the hall, his eyes deep, as though waiting for something.
Tap, tap, tap!
A burst of hurried footsteps sounded, and a man dressed entirely in black entered the hall.
"Greetings, Your Eminence the Pope!" The newcomer bowed first.
Qian Xunjie impatiently waved his hand. "Don't waste time!"
"Yes!" The man hurriedly reached into his robes, pulled out a scroll, and quickly stepped forward to offer it to Qian Xunjie.
Taking the scroll, Qian Xunjie immediately opened it and carefully read through it.
Yet his expression grew increasingly ugly!
"Trash!" Qian Xunjie flung the scroll into the black-clad man's face!
The man did not dare dodge and took the blow head-on.
Fortunately, Qian Xunjie had not used Soul Power, so the man only felt a burning pain in his cheek.
"Please calm your anger, Your Eminence the Pope!" The man hurriedly begged forgiveness, not daring to harbor the slightest resentment.
"Calm my anger?" Qian Xunjie snorted coldly and rose to his feet.
"You people handle matters like this—how am I supposed to calm my anger?"
"How long has it been? There hasn't been a shred of new information in your reports!"
"Every time, it's just how Tang Hao, Tang Xiao, and that female Blue Silver Grass Soul Master played savior a few times and traveled to some place!"
"Are you a eunuch in the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace writing daily court records?"
The last sentence was nearly roared out by Qian Xunjie!
Outside the hall, the guards on duty heard the Pope's roar. Their expressions tightened, and they immediately became alert, terrified of being caught in the aftermath of his fury.
"This subordinate is incompetent! This subordinate deserves death!" The black-clad man's voice trembled as he hurriedly pressed his forehead to the floor.
"You are indeed incompetent! You do indeed deserve death!" Qian Xunjie's voice was icy.
"I merely had you investigate the identity of a female Soul Master, yet you still haven't found it after all this time!"
"Could a female Soul Master who cultivated a Blue Silver Grass Spirit to such a level be some simple person?"
"Which sect or family did she come from?"
"Why did she end up with Tang Hao and Tang Xiao?"
"Does this mean that a powerful sect or family has formed an alliance with the Clear Sky Sect?"
"Do you know how much impact this information could have on Spirit Hall?"
Qian Xunjie spoke faster and faster, his anger mounting ever higher!
He had already been in a foul mood today because Qian Renxue's Second Spirit was a Fallen Angel.
His subordinates' incompetence made him even more furious, and now he vented it all at once!
The black-clad man knelt on the ground, his body shaking, cold sweat soaking his back.
Qian Xunjie's overwhelming fury had left his mind blank, and he could not think of a single word to defend himself or beg for mercy.
But the Pope clearly would not let the matter go lightly merely because he had made himself sufficiently humble!
"Hmph!" Qian Xunjie kicked the black-clad man to the ground.
The man let out a muffled groan at the same time, his face turning pale as paper.
A hot rush rose in his throat, but he clenched his teeth and forcibly swallowed it back down.
"Death may be spared, but punishment cannot! From this day onward, you will haul night soil in Spirit City!"
"Thank you, Your Eminence the Pope!" Bitterness and relief intertwined in the black-clad man's heart.
Though he had kept his life, his decades of cultivation had vanished like a dream!
Qian Xunjie's kick had crippled him outright!
