Percy meets Andrew Taylor in the Hogwarts Library and helps him improve a plant Transfiguration by suggesting that he establish its foundation rather than imagine every detail. Their friendship grows through shared paperwork in Professor McGonagall’s office, magical experiments, and occasional arguments over duty shifts 43 76 86 256.

As a Prefect, Percy takes responsibility when a Gryffindor prank strands Slytherin students near the train platform. He keeps the dispute from reaching McGonagall but suffers a broken arm and leg; Gryffindor celebrates him for intervening 66 67. He later helps supervise the construction of a new greenhouse, although Andrew’s arrangements leave him with more work—and less time off—than he expected 133 138.

Percy plans a Ministry career around his academic record. He initially considers working under Barty Crouch, believing a demanding, out-of-favor patron could offer long-term influence. He is protective of his siblings but can be severe with Ron. After Ron becomes absorbed in the Mirror of Erised, Percy forcefully intervenes; later, he disciplines Ron for copying homework and disrespecting authority, then wonders whether he went too far 76 256 259.
