"This spiritual fruit is indeed quite delicious, but I still prefer that tea from earlier. If I could have some Immortal Tea, sweeping the Daoist Sanctuary for Master would be far more convenient..."
Xian Junyu ate the Shamu Fruit, his gaze drifting toward the pot of Immortal Tea, his words carrying a pointed hint.
Jin Guang, standing nearby, caught the implication.
This sweeper wanted the Immortal Tea. Daring to reach out to Chang Er—what nerve!
Chang Er's face darkened at the words.
Eating, drinking, and now planning to take—this was outright extortion. This wretched sweeper had stretched his hand toward him, utterly detestable!
If it weren't for still needing news of the Senior Disciple Brother and settling scores with the Inner Sect Disciple, he would have already taught the man a lesson.
But shifting his thinking, Chang Er calmed down a little.
Though he was one of the Seven Attendant Immortals, he couldn't always stay at the Master's Daoist Sanctuary. This sweeper, however, was different—he was often there, just like those Daoist Children.
And this fellow's tongue wasn't tight. Using a bit of tea leaves to buy an inside line meant he'd know any news from the Master's side the moment it came.
On second thought, this deal wasn't much of a loss.
"Since you, Daoist friend, have taken a liking to it, then... I'll gift you some!"
Chang Er pulled out a small packet of tea leaves and, with a pained expression, handed it to the sweeper.
"Then many thanks to you, Daoist friend!"
Xian Junyu didn't stand on ceremony and tucked the tea leaves away.
Jin Guang watched with envy. He wanted the Immortal Tea too, but unlike this shameless sweeper, he couldn't bring himself to ask.
"Junior Brother Jin Guang, this is for you!"
Seeing his junior brother nearby, Chang Er, again with a pained heart, produced another packet of tea—only a third the size of Xian Junyu's.
Everyone present got a share. If his junior brother watched him bribe the sweeper without receiving anything, it simply wouldn't do.
"Thank you, Senior Brother!"
As he accepted the Immortal Tea, Jin Guang didn't forget to express his gratitude.
Though it was less than the sweeper's portion, having some was enough. He wasn't a greedy man.
"Daoist friend, you've drunk and eaten. Now, it's time to talk about the Senior Disciple Brother's matter..."
Afraid the sweeper might bring up something else, Chang Er quickly steered the conversation back.
He'd given away Immortal Tea and Spiritual Fruit. If he got no useful information, he'd definitely deal with this sweeper.
Xian Junyu didn't press Chang Er further. After taking a sip of tea, he began recounting his story.
"Over three thousand years ago, the Jie Sect's Senior Disciple Brother, Xian Junyu, broke through to the Grand Unity Heavenly Immortal realm and became obsessed with the Artifact Forging Technique!"
"To cultivate the Artifact Forging Technique, he sought out Saint Yuqing, Yuanshi, and spent over a thousand years learning the 'Jade Clarity Artifact Forging Technique'..."
Hearing this about the Senior Disciple Brother for the first time, Jin Guang was full of curiosity and interest.
But Chang Er frowned. He had no interest in the Senior Disciple Brother's experiences—he only wanted to know how the mistake was made and where the man was now.
"Daoist friend, there's no need to go into such detail. I have no interest in whether he cultivated the Artifact Forging Technique. I just want to know why the Senior Disciple Brother was imprisoned!"
Chang Er's face showed impatience.
Seeing Chang Er's lack of patience, Xian Junyu said helplessly:
"Daoist friend, what's the rush? The Senior Disciple Brother was imprisoned precisely because of this Artifact Forging Technique. Hear me out first!"
"Oh, it's about the Artifact Forging Technique? Daoist friend, tell us quickly—what happened?" Jin Guang asked with keen curiosity.
Hearing it was related to the Artifact Forging Technique, Chang Er stopped his complaints and listened attentively.
Xian Junyu continued his tale.
"After the Jie Sect's Senior Disciple Brother mastered the Artifact Forging Technique, he also caught up with the Master's sermon, roughly six hundred years ago!"
"During the sermon, the Senior Disciple Brother Xian Junyu didn't focus on listening. Instead, he was comprehending the Jade Clarity Artifact Forging Technique. The Master discovered this, and as soon as the sermon ended, he was imprisoned in the Daoist Sanctuary!"
Hearing this, Jin Guang and Chang Er were both stunned.
To ignore the Master's sermon and instead comprehend Saint Yuqing's Artifact Forging Technique—that was clearly looking down on the Master. Was this Senior Disciple Brother really that bold?
"I never expected it to be like this. The Senior Disciple Brother was foolish!" Jin Guang shook his head helplessly.
Abandoning a Saint's sermon to cultivate the Artifact Forging Technique—that wasn't just foolish; it was outright stupid.
Not knowing the full story, Jin Guang could only think this way.
Chang Er also shook his head in exasperation.
"The Senior Disciple Brother's actions were indeed improper. But it was his choice, and we can't interfere. Let it be!"
Even if the Senior Disciple Brother skipped the sermon to cultivate the Artifact Forging Technique, his cultivation hadn't fallen behind.
The number one Taiyi Realm on Mount Kunlun—missing one sermon wouldn't matter much.
Unlike Jin Guang, Chang Er always looked at problems from a sharper angle.
"By the way, Daoist friend, do you know where in the Daoist Sanctuary the Senior Disciple Brother is imprisoned?" Chang Er asked directly.
Now that he knew why he had been punished and had been given the Immortal Tea, he dropped all pretense and got straight to the point.
"It's not some big secret, of course I know!"
"Three hundred years ago, after he made his mistake, Senior Disciple Brother was locked up in Master's Artifact Refining Room. Didn't you know that?" Xian Junyu said calmly.
The fact that he swept the Daoist Sanctuary and refined artifacts in the Artifact Refining Room was known to the four Personal Disciples and two of the Seven Attendant Immortals. It wasn't exactly a secret.
They just didn't talk about it.
"Master's Artifact Refining Room..."
Chang Er was instantly speechless upon hearing this. He had thought that Senior Disciple Brother Xian Junyu was locked away in some Small Space within the Daoist Sanctuary, which was why he was never seen.
He never expected it to be the Artifact Refining Room—nothing mysterious at all. He was deeply disappointed.
Master's Artifact Refining Room was not a place just anyone could enter.
Chang Er immediately began thinking about what to do next.
"Daoist friend, I've told you what you wanted to know. There are still fallen leaves to sweep back at the Daoist Sanctuary, so I'll be going now."
Without lingering any longer, Xian Junyu prepared to leave.
Chang Er said nothing, only waving his hand absentmindedly as he pondered how to build a connection with Senior Disciple Brother Xian Junyu.
Seeing this, Xian Junyu didn't say anything more. As a mere Sweeping Servant, it was only natural that Chang Er wouldn't see him off.
So he left without bothering further about Chang Er and Jin Guang. Whatever happened with Chang Er would be handled once he was released.
But the moment Xian Junyu returned to the Daoist Sanctuary, his master Tongtian's voice reached his ears.
"Yu'er! Have you taken your master's words to heart? I told you not to leave the Daoist Sanctuary, and yet you left. Do you want to stay another three hundred years?"
Tongtian was deeply exasperated.
This Xian Junyu was getting more and more out of line. He told him not to leave the Daoist Sanctuary, and in the very last year, he left—as if his words meant nothing.
"Master, you misunderstand. Two junior brothers invited me for tea. I had a couple of cups and came right back. It was only the time it takes to drink a cup of tea!"
"That can't count as leaving, can it?"
Xian Junyu explained calmly, his tone relaxed.
After all, for the next few thousand years, he had no plans to leave the Jie Sect. Staying in the Daoist Sanctuary didn't hinder his affairs, so he didn't mind another three hundred years of confinement.
With no worries, there was nothing to fear. His master would never harm him anyway.
