Background / History

Daoist Shichen was a Chaos Demon God associated with time. Lin Xuan identifies him as a being formed from a wheel of time in Chaos, capable of controlling the River of Time and allegedly strong enough to contend with peak Pangu. Shichen claims that Pangu only killed one of his clones during the creation of the heavens, while his true body escaped to another world. 157

He established himself in the Heavenly Veil World under the title Heavenly Dao Emperor. From the Heavenly Venerate Palace, he commanded ten powerful Divine Emperors and Divine Kings, who regarded him as their master. His stated ambition was to return to the Primordial World, rule its beings, devour its Great Dao, and perfect his Law of Time. 160 161

Shichen infiltrated the Primordial World through clones and four Demon Lord “chess pieces.” Lin Xuan destroyed the black-mist clone inhabiting Wuxiang and eliminated the four pieces, forcing Shichen to confront him from the Heavenly Veil World instead. 157 158

Daoist Shichen first manifests in the Primordial World as a mass of black mist that forms a ferocious face. In the Heavenly Veil World, he appears as a stern, imposing old man in green robes. 157 160

Daoist Shichen is arrogant, cruel, and intensely possessive of his authority. He dismisses Hongjun as “just an earthworm,” calls Lin Xuan an insignificant transmigrated human, and assumes that his command over time makes him untouchable. 157

He is also calculating. He lures Lin Xuan into the Heavenly Veil World, assembles his ten disciples for an ambush, and conceals his true intention to conquer the Primordial World behind claims that the confrontation will temper their cultivation. 160 161

After suffering defeat, his confidence turns to desperation. He abandons his body to escape, manipulates other Chaos Demon Gods into attacking the Primordial World, attempts to flee into the future, and finally offers Lin Xuan his service, the Law of Time, and even slavery in exchange for survival. 214 217 294

Heavenly Veil World Ambush

Believing Lin Xuan has fallen into his trap, Shichen summons his ten disciples to Heavenly Venerate Palace. He tells them that Lin Xuan is comparable to himself in strength, orders them to prepare an ambush, and privately vows to devour the Primordial World's Great Dao after Lin Xuan's death. 160 161

Battle with Lin Xuan

When Lin Xuan finally confronts him, Shichen's full-strength palm strike is countered by a single punch. Loss of His Body and Revenge

After the mysterious little boy's appearance weakens him, Shichen flees into the River of Time by abandoning his physical body. As a remnant soul, he resurrects the Chaos Demon Ape and Destruction Demon God, then tempts them with the Primordial World's Destiny in hopes that they will destroy it. 213 214 217

Final Pursuit and Death

Lin Xuan later enters the River of Time to hunt Shichen down. Shichen attempts to escape into the future through the Time Vortex, bargains for his life, and offers himself as Lin Xuan's slave, but Lin Xuan refuses.
