Background / History

Origin and the Myriad Worlds Simulator

Houtu is the youngest of the Twelve Ancestral Witches, an Innate Divine Being born from Pangu’s essence and blood. Her innate foundation and status as an Ancestral Witch earned her an SSS rating when Shen Lang selected her as the third Myriad Worlds Simulator player 12 57.

Her initial simulator talents were Father’s Love is Like a Mountain, Foodie, and Roar of the Eastern Lioness. Her Foodie talent foreshadowed both her unusual cultivation method and the death of her first simulation body 50 71.

First Simulation: Qianlong Continent

Houtu entered the Qianlong Continent as the Qin King’s young daughter. Because her simulated body had a defective dantian, she was sent to Cloud Mist Villa and initially could not cultivate internal arts 55. She studied the world through the Qin mansion’s books, identified herself as a human in that life, and resolved to cultivate her body through external arts instead 54 55.

After obtaining the Meteor Tear, she used its near-limitless Life Origin to repair damage caused by absorbing spiritual energy. Her body-strengthening cultivation accelerated rapidly, while her appetite served as an alternative means of repairing and reinforcing her body 55.

Houtu acquired a Tongtian Diagram, effortlessly killed the Grand Perfection cultivator Zhen Xu, and later deduced the complete Tongtian Three Diagrams from the fragment 56 59. Learning of Princess Consort Qin’s death drove her to avenge her: she killed Xiang Guang, Wu De, Wu Xing, and Xiang Yang, then departed Qianlong Continent after severing her attachment to the Qin family 58 59.

Transported to Lei Wei’s residence, she studied the incomplete Stellar Transformations technique and derived her own cultivation method, Chaos Transformation 60 64. She survived the simulator’s required millennium but self-destructed during the Clear-Turbid Realm after becoming distracted by hunger 70.

Cultivation in Chaos and the Underworld’s Creation

After returning to her true body, Houtu attempted to reproduce Chaos Transformation in Chaos. She succeeded in cultivating its first stages by using her True Spirit to fulfill the Fire Yuan role that the Witch Race’s lack of a Primordial Spirit would otherwise make impossible 72 81.

While collecting external Laws for the Rules Realm, Daoist Hongjun broke through her formations and caused the Laws within her body to riot. Enraged by the destruction of her Dao Foundation, Houtu formed a Law Saber from her Laws and destroyed Hongjun’s avatar, though the attack left her critically injured 82 83.

A mysterious power tied to her True Spirit healed her and condensed a Dao Seed of the Law of Reincarnation. Unable to continue absorbing other Laws, Houtu used Reincarnation alone to complete the Rules Realm and opened heaven within her Flesh, creating the Reincarnation Heaven—later known as the Underworld 84 85.

Earthly Dao and Lord of Reincarnation

Houtu returned to the Primordial World during the Witch–Demon war despite prioritizing the Underworld’s perfection. She joined the Du Tian Shen Sha Great Array, restoring the Pangu True Body to full strength and helping the Witch Race resist the Demon Court 179 180.

During the conflict with Daoist Kunpeng and Eastern Emperor Tai Yi, Houtu entered the Underworld and awakened to the Power of the Earthly Dao. She returned as a Primal Grand Unity Golden Immortal with the Six Paths of Reincarnation behind her 184 185.

She merged the Underworld’s Six Paths with those of the Primordial World, making the Underworld the reincarnation destination for all beings. Tai Yi conceded after being overwhelmed by her Earthly Dao power and acknowledged her as the Lord of Reincarnation 187.

Appearance

Houtu’s appearance changes with her simulated incarnations rather than remaining fixed.

  • In her first Qianlong Continent simulation, she appeared as the Qin King’s young daughter and was known as the Little County Princess 55.
  • In a later simulation, she rapidly aged from a six-month-old infant into a stunning young maiden 172.
  • Her combat body is defined less by outward features than by immense physical strength, concealed aura, and the Six Paths of Reincarnation vortex that manifests behind her after awakening as the Earthly Dao 59 185.

Personality

Houtu is detached and direct toward enemies. Her long existence as an Ancestral Witch and her history of war against the Demon Race leave her largely unmoved by killing; she regards the death of hostile cultivators with indifference 56 57.

Her detachment does not extend to those who show her genuine care. She was lonely while separated from Princess Consort Qin, was devastated upon learning of her death, and pursued vengeance against the Xiang family in response 55 58. Her bond with the Princess Consort remains one of the few attachments that affects her deeply.

She is patient and exceptionally cautious in cultivation, taking centuries to stabilize dangerous transformations rather than rushing ascension 69. However, she possesses a notorious appetite and temper. Hunger distracted her at a critical moment in her first simulation, causing her self-destruction 70 71.

Abilities & Skills

Ancestral Witch Physiology

Houtu’s strength is centered on her physical body rather than conventional Primordial Spirit cultivation.

  • Can cultivate through external body tempering despite a defective dantian in her simulated human body 55.
  • Her Witch Race body treats Flesh and soul as inseparable; severe physical damage threatens her very existence 83.
  • Possesses overwhelming raw force, including the ability to destroy heavenly tribulations and kill Divine Kings with bare-handed strikes 60 175.
  • Can suppress or conceal her aura to the point that Nascent Soul cultivators cannot detect her 59.

Chaos Transformation

A cultivation method Houtu derived after studying Stellar Transformations.

  • Four Yuan Realm — maps Blood to Water, Bone to Earth, Flesh to Wind, and Soul or True Spirit to Fire 69 81.
  • Clear-Turbid Realm — balances pure yin and turbid yang within the body 70 81.
  • Rules Realm — weaves Laws into a network through the Flesh; Houtu completed it with the Law of Reincarnation 84.
  • Heaven-Opening Realm — opens heaven and earth within the physical body, allowing her Flesh to become a world 69 85.
  • Its cultivation is highly dangerous: disruption of the elemental or yin-yang balance can cause complete self-destruction 69 70.

Law Manipulation

Before becoming the Earthly Dao, Houtu forcibly absorbed and organized external Laws in Chaos.

  • Initially possessed the Five Elements Earth Law as her innate Law 81.
  • Controlled thirteen Laws, including the Law of Reincarnation, before Hongjun’s intrusion caused them to riot 82.
  • Later wielded fourteen Laws to form an explosive Law Saber capable of destroying Hongjun’s avatar 83.
  • The multi-Law Saber was difficult to control and damaged Houtu when it detonated 83.

Law of Reincarnation and the Six Paths

Houtu’s Reincarnation authority became the foundation of the Underworld.

  • Created the Reincarnation Heaven by opening heaven with the Law of Reincarnation alone 85.
  • Divided the Six Paths into the Heavenly Dao, Human Dao, Asura Path, Beast Path, Hungry Ghost Path, and Hell Path 189.
  • The Heavenly Dao, Human Dao, and Asura Path are good paths; the remaining three are evil paths for sinful souls 189.
  • Can send beings into reincarnation beyond the Heavenly Dao’s intervention, as demonstrated against Daoist Kunpeng 188.
  • Initially withheld souls from the immature Six Paths because entry would have crushed them rather than reincarnated them 185.

Earthly Dao Authority

After merging with the Earthly Dao, Houtu became one with the Underworld.

  • Her Underworld, true body, and the Earthly Dao are treated as one existence 184.
  • Can manifest the Eye of the Earthly Dao and mobilize the Primordial World’s Earthly Dao power 188.
  • In the Underworld, the Rules controlled by other Dao Provers are heavily suppressed 220.
  • Can imprison powerful opponents through the Six Paths’ phantom and the Underworld’s world power 223.
  • Her authority is strongest within the Underworld; Wutian was able to breach one of her spatial restrictions before being re-suppressed 222 223.

Stellar Transformations

Houtu studied Lei Wei’s incomplete Stellar Transformations in the Star Realm and later explored its full path in another simulation 64 171.

  • Reached Origin Point Grand Perfection, equivalent to Mystic Immortal or Immortal Emperor 172.
  • Surpassed the Qiankun Realm and reached minor accomplishment after ascending to the God Realm 174.
  • Her inner Stellar Space evolved into a universe, allowing her to create a complete universe within three months 174 176.

Equipment / Items

  • Meteor Tear — A tear-shaped crystal containing dense energy and Life Origin. It continuously repaired Houtu’s body during her first Qianlong Continent simulation 55.
  • Tongtian Diagram — A fragment Houtu took from Zhen Xu; she used it to deduce the complete Tongtian Three Diagrams 56 59.
  • Tongtian Three Diagrams — A body-refinement method that manifested a three-colored armor composed of 108 pillars of qi when cultivated 60.

Relationships

  • Qin De — Her simulated father in the Qin family. Houtu avenged Princess Consort Qin and offered to clear Qin De’s path to the throne, but later severed her attachment to the family 58 59 172.
  • Princess Consort Qin — Houtu’s simulated mother and the person she most deeply cared for in her first simulation; her death prompted Houtu’s revenge against the Xiang family 55 58.
  • Dayi, Kuafu, and Xing Tian — Great Shamans of the Houtu Tribe. Houtu entrusted them with managing her tribe while she left to investigate Chaos Transformation 70.
  • Xiao Xing — The cat-like AI servant of Lei Wei’s residence. It served Houtu during her first simulation and arranged enormous meals for her 60 69.
  • Daoist Hongjun — Enemy who destroyed Houtu’s Dao Foundation by breaching her formations. Houtu killed his avatar and later considered joining Nuwa against him 82 83 191.
  • Eastern Emperor Tai Yi — Initially an opponent in the Witch–Demon war; briefly allied with Houtu against Kunpeng, then conceded after she established the Underworld as the universal reincarnation realm 185 187.
  • Nuwa — Fellow Dao Master with whom Houtu feels an innate closeness. They discussed an alliance against Hongjun and the connection between Dao Provers and the Myriad Worlds Simulation 185 191.
  • Old Ancestor Minghe — Submitted to Houtu after she moved the Underworld beneath the Netherworld Blood Sea. Houtu appointed him its protector and granted him a chance to prove Dao through Earthly Dao origin 189 190.
  • Hongmeng and Lin Meng — Hongmeng Controllers who encountered Houtu after she created a universe in the Star Realm; both recognized that her strength exceeded theirs 176 200.
  • Qin Shuang — Qin Feng’s son and a later Hongmeng Controller. He called Houtu “Aunt,” but she erased his memories of her before leaving the Star Realm 200.

Trivia

  • Houtu’s first simulation lasted 1,049 years and 221 days, exceeding the Simulator’s 1,000-year survival requirement despite ending in self-destruction 70.
  • Her enormous appetite is both an innate talent and a practical means of strengthening her body; Xiao Xing once prepared over ten thousand pounds of food for her, all of which she finished within half a day 69.
  • Houtu left the name Qin Yu on the Hongmeng Golden Ranking during her Star Realm simulation, which later brought recognition to the Qin family across multiple worlds 200.
