Madam Pince suddenly discovered that while students from the other houses were slacking off and waiting for the Christmas holidays to arrive, far more Gryffindor students than usual were coming to the library.

All of them were upper-year students. They had clear divisions of labor and searched the library for their assigned materials.

In the Gryffindor Common Room, the long table in front of the fireplace had become the office of the simulated Quidditch project. Eleanor sat in the middle, overseeing everything. Percy was in charge of organizing the necessary spells on her left, while Wood studied related Quidditch tactics with the others on her right. Charles had taken on the arduous task of pouring tea, fetching water, and refilling the ink bottles.

Making Wizard's Chess was no simple matter, and the simulated Quidditch demanded even more magical skill. With Charles's current knowledge, he had no way to get involved. When the others discussed the spells used to control the player figurines, he had never even heard of some of the technical terms. All he could do was help out with odd jobs from the sidelines.

Managing a project like this was a technical job too, but Eleanor seemed to come from a family with a long tradition of scholarship, and she handled it with ease.

Besides, she was paying for everything. Every student involved received a salary, and they had agreed that if the product sold, everyone would receive a share of the profits. Everyone was bursting with enthusiasm.

An owl flew onto the long table. Charles went over and took the letter down. The wax seal on the parchment bore the emblem of the Magpies.

"It's a reply from the Montrose Magpies."
