Charles rubbed his head, letting the throbbing in it ease a little.

Beside him, a silver-haired, blue-eyed little girl who looked about six years old and was devastatingly adorable was desperately begging the shop assistant to sell her one of the necklaces on the tray.

The necklaces were made of a metal resembling silver. Their oval pendants were set with gemstones, bearing the images of a blue iris, a white swan, and a red rooster respectively.

The shop assistant had just explained that the set could protect its wearer from the harm of wild beasts and venomous insects, neutralize common poisons, and allow the wearers to locate one another with a simple signal.

Leaving aside the third function, one look at the color scheme made it obvious that the set could not possibly be sold separately.

Gabrielle Delacour placed all the gold coins, silver coins, and copper pieces she had brought on the counter, lining them up neatly, but there was only enough to cover the price of the set.

The shop assistant looked helplessly at Gabrielle. After such a beautifully adorable little girl had begged him for so long, his heart had already softened. If he were the owner, he would have split up the set and sold it separately.
