Background / History

Moss raised Little Ball from only a few days after its birth. Its slime absorbed a large amount of Moss's mana, allowing it to convert that mana into its own without Moss suffering rejection when she later consumed it. 22

During Moss's near-fatal mana depletion, Little Ball fed her its own magical-essence-rich slime, shrinking substantially to keep her alive. While Moss remained unconscious afterward, it marked passing days on the cave wall, scouted the entrance, and brought her water. Moss consequently accepted it not merely as a pet, but as family. 22 23

Little Ball grew by absorbing ambient Magic Substance and eventually developed a broad set of water-oriented abilities. It also became a dependable collector, retrieving Magic Cores from dangerous areas and concealing its movements while Moss distracted hostile monsters. 12 54 56

As its intelligence developed, Little Ball began acting on its own initiative. It hunted and devoured a Merman while gathering firewood, then offered the Merman's Magic Core to Moss rather than keeping it for itself. 81 82

Moss's repeated slime-reproduction experiments caused Little Ball to evolve into a Split Slime. Its new capacity to split, combined with Moss's Slime Cultivation, enabled the creation of Storage Ring and Flame Jade from fragments of Moss's soul. 90 91
