Background

Ling Ye discovers the mouse after it steals his jade jar from the villa. Drawn by the jar’s faint Space Attribute, it bites open a small hole in space, carries the jar away, and hides it inside a narrow storage space connected to an abandoned factory’s underground pipes. 189

Ling Ye initially watches its activities for amusement, even remotely saving it when an antique shop’s guards nearly catch it attempting to steal a Tiantian Yellow Stone. 190 He later visits its nest, accepts its frightened apology, and leaves the jade jar in its care on the condition that it protect it and avoid reckless trespassing. 191

The mouse resumes stealing with greater confidence, targeting private collections and auction houses; Donghai City’s upper circles nickname the unseen culprit the “Elegant Thief.” 192 Its most notable theft is a jade paperweight containing Sharp Gold energy, acquired by exploiting the relationship between the paperweight’s energy and an ancient copper coin’s Dull Gold Origin. 194 195
