Arima Shizuya’s plan to transfer power into Masaki Kurosaki left him gravely weakened, while Aizen prepared to extract the Hōgyoku from Rukia and manipulate Soul Society. As Ichigo entered Soul Society to rescue Rukia, Arima found himself caught in the Ryoka’s arrival.

• Arima Shizuya’s Yaksha Clone attacked Shiba Isshin, Masaki Kurosaki, and Ryūken Ishida before Kisuke Urahara and the Visored intervened, and Aizen withdrew as the clone’s rampage severely injured Masaki.
• Arima Shizuya discovered that most of his soul had gone into Masaki, leaving him gravely weakened, while Urahara found that the soulless Yaksha Clone was breaking down.
• Arima Shizuya’s Bankai, Garuda, awakened and gave him the ability to record his condition and later restore his injuries, spiritual pressure, and mind.

Arima Shizuya staged his death, then revealed his betrayal while Aizen exposed the conspiracy behind Rukia’s execution and the Forty-Six Chambers. After escaping to Hueco Mundo, Arima was welcomed into Aizen’s ranks and began studying the Hōgyoku.

• Arima Shizuya guided Kurosaki Ichigo and Shiba Ganju toward Rukia, then agreed with Aizen to stage his death atop Tribunal Rock.
• Hitsugaya Tōshirō and Hinamori Momo found Arima’s body, and Retsu Unohana confirmed his death as the Captains’ investigation turned against itself.

After Ichibei stripped Arima of his powers and Soul Society sentenced him to execution, Kisuke Urahara and his allies began the plan Arima had prepared, awakening a power that drew Yhwach’s attention.

• Arima Shizuya survived Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni’s fatal attack by negating it with his Bankai, then lost their rematch and prepared to enter the passage to the Spirit King Palace with Aizen Sōsuke.
• Arima Shizuya met the Spirit King, learned that the Spirit King’s plan accepted terrible losses, and chose his own path to defeat Yhwach despite the risk of disappearing completely.
• Aizen Sōsuke stood with Arima Shizuya against Zero Division, and Arima used Bankai: Tianlong Babu: Ashura to defeat the Four Heavenly War Gods before escaping Shutara Senjumaru’s Bankai.
