Background

Before becoming an Emperor, the Immortal Emperor left his homeland and endured a long solitary cultivation journey. His relatives, friends, disciples, and followers later died in the Corpse Calamity; after reaching the peak of the Human Dao, he chose not to establish a Dao lineage rather than watch new companions die of age. 141

He attained the Emperor realm with a powerful, invincible Dao heart and openly pursued immortality, as reflected in both his title and his Dao weapon, the Slaying Immortal Gourd. 121 Seeking a path beyond an Emperor's natural lifespan, he approached the Human Emperor and tested him with a forbidden divine ability. The attack failed to create even the slightest reaction, making the gulf between them unmistakable. 121

Rather than be discouraged, the encounter gave him a new goal. He acknowledged the Human Emperor as “near immortal” and decided to pursue the path of Becoming Immortal in the Mortal World for himself. 121 He later remained in the Human World Universe to receive the Human Emperor's teachings rather than leave for the Strange World. 131

The Immortal Emperor initially chose to merge his Primordial Spirit with the Slaying Immortal Gourd, hoping its extended lifespan would give him time to develop a true Longevity Method. The Human Emperor warned that prolonged fusion would end in assimilation by the weapon. Although initially confident he could resist, the Immortal Emperor eventually accepted that the danger was real and sought other methods, including transformation through an Undying Medicine seed. 122 132

He ultimately broke free from the gourd and joined the Human Emperor, Numinous Treasure Heavenly Lord, and Daoist Heavenly Lord in researching transformation methods. 141 144 By the later eras, he continued to cultivate alongside the Ancient Emperors and stood close to the Quasi-Immortal King domain. 471

His pursuit of longevity is shaped by regret and loneliness. Having lost everyone from his former life, he regards becoming an Emperor as both an invincible road and an isolating one. This fear of being left behind drove him to risk merging his Primordial Spirit with his Dao weapon. 141

He is nevertheless capable of revising his course. After recognizing that weapon assimilation could not be resisted indefinitely, he abandoned absolute confidence in his original method and sought a safer transformation path. 132
