Background / History

After proving the Dao, the Immortal Emperor sought out the Human Emperor at Chaos Mountain. He asked about other paths to immortality and requested a sparring match, only for his forbidden divine ability to be effortlessly annihilated. Rather than becoming discouraged, he treated the overwhelming gap between them as a goal to pursue. 120 121

Inspired by the Human Emperor's path, he merged his Primordial Spirit with his Dao weapon, the Slaying Immortal Gourd, as an alternative longevity method. He initially believed that he could resist assimilation by the weapon, but later conceded that the process would inevitably consume him if continued. 121 122 132

Seeking a way out, he adopted a further transformation method: becoming a seed and burying himself in Chaos Mountain. His transformed body grew into a gourd vine containing his sealed consciousness. He eventually escaped the weapon-bound state, making him the precedent later studied by the Human Emperor, Numinous Treasure Heavenly Lord, Daoist Heavenly Lord, and Blood Phoenix Emperor. 132 141 144

He later prepared to pursue immortality while entrusting his disciple Blood Phoenix Emperor's transformed Phoenix Wing Gilded Tang to the Human Emperor's care. 172

Personality

The Immortal Emperor is ambitious, resilient, and deeply unwilling to accept the limits of the Human Dao. His defeat by the Human Emperor did not damage his Dao heart; instead, it reinforced his determination to find his own route to immortality. 121

His pursuit of longevity stems partly from regret and loneliness. He left his relatives, friends, disciples, and followers behind during his rise, then saw those around him perish in the Corpse Calamity. He deliberately did not establish a Dao lineage after becoming Emperor because he did not wish to endure the loss of more companions to age. 141

Soon after proving the Dao, the Immortal Emperor visited the Human Emperor to ask about immortality and test his strength. His failure to move the Human Emperor with the Gourd Transformation Dao Sword established both his ambition and the scale of the Human Emperor's advancement. 120 121

Alternative Longevity Experiment

He fused his Primordial Spirit with the Slaying Immortal Gourd, becoming the first known figure in the Human World Universe to take this route. The method granted longevity but exposed him to gradual assimilation. 121 122 144

Gourdling Transformation
