Background / History
Saitama lived alone in Z-City’s abandoned district, maintaining a modest routine of part-time jobs, bounty hunting, monster elimination, manga, and discount shopping. He treated hero work as a hobby rather than a source of recognition, and usually traveled across the supercontinent at extreme speed to reach work or sales in other cities. 630 634 636
After Oboro moved in next door, Saitama sensed that someone was secretly observing him. Unable to identify the watcher, he briefly concluded that a ghost or curse had attached itself to him; Oboro exploited the fear by arranging an exorcism. Their relationship developed into casual friendship, shared meals, and a fiercely one-sided gaming rivalry in which Saitama lost more than two hundred consecutive matches. 630 632 633 634
Saitama’s concealed heroism became visible when he saved a girl and killed Vaccine Man with one punch. The Hero Association mistakenly credited King for the victory. 635
Appearance
Saitama is a bald, toned man with a deceptively ordinary appearance. His build is athletic rather than outwardly imposing, causing some observers to underestimate him before witnessing his strength. 657
- Bald head and plain, deadpan expression. 630 657
- Toned physique developed through training. 657
- Yellow skintight hero suit, white cape, and red gloves. 630 665
- Often wears casual clothes or pajamas when at home. 639 640
Personality
Saitama is laid-back, frugal, and largely indifferent to prestige. He does not seek credit for defeating monsters, remains unmoved when the Hero Association claims credit for his meteor feat, and is more likely to worry about a missed supermarket sale than a major battle. 635 650 655
Despite his relaxed demeanor, he is deeply competitive. Oboro’s repeated gaming victories frustrate him intensely, while the prospect of fighting a genuinely difficult opponent restores the excitement that his invincibility had taken from him. 633 652 664
He is protective of people he considers neighbors or companions. He confronts attackers targeting Oboro’s apartment, intervenes when Tatsumaki threatens Genos, and attempts to stop Tatsumaki from destroying his home and surrounding city blocks. 639 640 645 668
Abilities & Skills
Overwhelming Physical Strength
Saitama’s physical power is sufficient to defeat powerful monsters with casual strikes and devastate vast areas when he becomes serious.
- Killed Vaccine Man with a single punch after rescuing a child. 635
- Crushed a guided missile in one hand and pursued its airborne attackers at extreme speed. 639
- Destroyed a meteor threatening Z-City with one punch. 654 655
- Restrained Tatsumaki despite her psychic attacks and carried her away from the city. 645 646
- Killed Carnage Mode Asura Kabuto with a single serious punch; the force erased surrounding mountains, forests, and cloud cover. 650
- Defeated Boros after enduring Meteoric Burst and being sent into space. 674 675
Speed and Mobility
Saitama can cross enormous distances almost instantly through running, jumping, and sudden bursts of force.
- Routinely runs between cities across the human supercontinent. 630 631
- Outpaced Flashy Flash’s initial attack and nearly counterattacked him. 640
- Leapt through Tatsumaki’s psychic wind barrier and escaped with her before she could react. 645
- His speed during the battle with Oboro became too great to follow with the naked eye. 667
Serious Series
When Saitama chooses to exert more force, his named attacks vastly exceed his normal blows.
- Consecutive Normal Punches — A rapid barrage that pulverized Boros’s body despite its regeneration. 674
- Serious Punch — Ended Saitama’s battle with Boros and was powerful enough to threaten the space fragment occupied by Oboro. 674
- Serious Blow — A breath attack that became an unstoppable destructive gale within Oboro’s soul domain. 666
Intuition and Perception
Saitama possesses unusual instinctive awareness despite his generally careless lifestyle.
- Detected Oboro’s hidden surveillance through clouds even when Oboro concealed his senses. 630
- Persistently sensed that he was being watched and attempted to shake the observer by circling the continent. 631
- Recognized Oboro as the man in the black suit when Oboro wore the same clothing. 664
Soul Resilience and Escalating Power
Oboro found that Saitama’s body and soul are inseparable, with his soul retaining the same overwhelming force as his physical form. During their battle in Oboro’s soul domain, Saitama repeatedly destroyed spiritual constructs and escalated in power until Oboro ended the fight as a draw. 666 667
- His strength has no fixed upper range in Oboro’s assessment; it can surge drastically during combat without a conventional limit. 666
- His attacks could potentially contend with rules or mysteries through sufficient raw force. 667
- He initially struggled to defeat Oboro because he lacked knowledge of souls and relied on straightforward force rather than specialized combat thinking. 667
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Hero suit — Yellow skintight suit with white cape and red gloves. 630 665
- Pajamas — Regularly worn at home; their destruction by a missile prompted him to chase the attackers. 639
- No weapons — Saitama fights exclusively with his body and physical force. 635 674
Relationships
- Oboro — Neighbor, friend, gaming rival, and one of the few opponents to reignite Saitama’s desire for battle. Their first major clash ended in a declared draw, while a later sparring match ended with Saitama claiming victory. 633 667 686
- Genos — Disciple and housemate. Genos handles cooking and cleaning, investigates threats to Saitama, and regards him as the strongest hero. 647 651
- Tatsumaki — Hostile acquaintance. Saitama repeatedly clashes with her over her destructive conduct and treatment of those around him. 644 645 668
- Boros — Alien invader and one of Saitama’s most formidable direct opponents. Saitama acknowledged Boros’s strength but rejected his destructive motives. 672 673 675
- King — Saitama unknowingly saved King from Vaccine Man; the Hero Association subsequently credited King with the kill. 635
- Hero Association — His professional affiliation, though it initially ranked him far below his actual capability and repeatedly failed to recognize his accomplishments. 655 659 670
Story Role / Major Arcs

Hero Association Entry
Following Shibabawa’s prophecy of a God-level disaster, Saitama takes the Hero Association examination with Genos and Oboro. His immense physical-test performance is overshadowed by his poor overall result, placing him in C-Class before he later advances to B-Class. 656 657 659 670
The Man in the Black Suit
Saitama becomes increasingly focused on the mysterious suited man who had been watching him and escaped his pursuit. Genos’s investigation ultimately identifies Oboro as the likely culprit, leading Saitama to demand a fight. 649 650 663 664
First Battle with Oboro
Oboro moves the fight into a parallel space and soul domain to protect the main world. Saitama’s escalating attacks threaten to break the space fragment itself, but Oboro ends the encounter by declaring a draw. Saitama considers Oboro the strongest opponent he has faced. 665 666 667
Boros and the Dark Matter Thieves
When Boros invades Earth in search of a worthy opponent, Saitama confronts him aboard the alien ship. He withstands Meteoric Burst, returns from space, destroys Boros with Consecutive Normal Punches, and ends the battle with a Serious Punch. 672 673 674 675
Oboro’s Departure
Before Oboro leaves for other worlds, Saitama accepts another sparring match and claims victory after Oboro departs through a spatial opening. Even so, he believes Oboro’s ability to learn and grow may someday make him dangerous enough to defeat him. 686
