Arc 5Hero Island and the Dark Continent

Oboro rebuilt his Nen ability into a competitive game, advanced his Hunter career, and drew the attention of Ging, Netero, and Pariston. As he investigated a suspected Dark Continent creature, Saiyu revealed that Beyond’s team intended to eliminate him, leaving Oboro ready to fight.

  • Oboro conceded his duel with Netero was a draw, then returned to the Fills Family and began building Hero Island and its game.
  • Oboro redesigned his ability around the game, gained transferable hero skills, and formed a Hunter team led by Menchi, Fante, Anthony, Rita, and Gabe Vich.
  • Oboro’s team completed dangerous missions, and Oboro declined the Zodiac Tiger seat before disbanding the team after its members became One-Star Hunters.

Arc 6The Fills Family Attack

Oboro trained Kurapika and prepared for the Phantom Troupe’s assault on the Fills Family, while the Hunters and Zoldycks moved into position. The Troupe’s attack left Kurapika fighting for revenge and Hisoka awaiting his promised duel with Chrollo as Oboro arrived.

  • Oboro killed Saiyu, survived the Association’s inquiry, refused the vacant Zodiac position, and gained support among Hunters.
  • Oboro examined the Hunter Exam, tested the candidates with his killing intent, and helped Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio pass before giving Kurapika information about the Phantom Troupe.

Arc 7The Fills Family’s Rise

Oboro destroys the Phantom Troupe, kills Chrollo through Kurapika, and turns the Fills Family into a power V5 must negotiate with. He then shifts his attention to Kakin, where he courts Halkenburg and confronts Pariston as the Succession War approaches.

  • Oboro ambushed the Phantom Troupe, killed several Spiders, and watched Chrollo defeat Hisoka before Kurapika killed Chrollo.
  • Oboro helped the Fills Family consolidate the underworld and rejected V5’s demand for control, forcing its leaders to grant the family autonomy over the mafia.

  • Oboro trapped Benjamin’s soul fragment, manipulated him into arranging an ambush on Salé-salé, then killed Salé-salé and Consort Swinko-Swinko when Beyond intervened.
  • Oboro fought Beyond, escaped after a brutal battle, and later set aside his Kakin plan while resolving to grow stronger.
