Tonks opened her eyes groggily. She had only just fallen asleep when her mother woke her.

"An Auror. A Ministry Auror is looking for you," Andromeda said quietly.

"An Auror?" Tonks turned to glance at the pitch-black window and complained, "At this hour? Are you serious?"

When Tonks rubbed her eyes and arrived in the living room, she found one of her colleagues standing there.

"Williamson?"

"Amelia Bones is dead. There's a Dark Mark above her house." Williamson looked at the bleary-eyed Tonks and continued, "We also found Emeline Vance's body nearby. She was with the Order of the Phoenix, wasn't she?"

"What? Emeline's dead?"

All sleep vanished from Tonks' face, and she stood there frozen in shock.

"Yes, she's dead. In an alley near the Bones residence." After saying that, the middle-aged Auror gave Tonks' family a slight nod and turned to leave.
