Fighting a Troll
There was a corridor behind the door, and the group walked along it.
After taking only a few steps, Fred suddenly asked, "What treasure do you think Dumbledore has hidden here?"
"You're eyeing that treasure?" Albert stopped and turned to look at Fred, who had almost bumped into him, raising his eyebrows slightly.
"Isn't it just curiosity about what kind of treasure would require so many professors to set up mechanisms to protect it?" Fred said, unconcerned by Albert's tone. "That Devil's Snare must be Professor Sprout's mechanism, the enchantment on those keys must be Professor Flitwick's work, and then there's Professor McGonagall's Giant Chessboard Array. All three heads of the department are involved, so..."
He didn't say what he meant after that, but everyone understood what he meant.
What exactly is it that Dumbledore went to such lengths to protect? If it's not something extremely valuable, is it really necessary to go to such lengths?
This matter has certainly piqued everyone's curiosity.
"I'm curious too."
"Just think about it, don't even think about getting your hands on it," Albert cautioned. "I reckon Dumbledore will find out we're here very soon."
The three of them were stunned upon hearing this.
"That's strange. After all, it's Dumbledore. How could he not be able to monitor the situation here?" Albert curled his lip and said with a self-deprecating smile. "Do you really think these mechanisms are too difficult to stop a thief who wants to steal the treasure? No, I'm more inclined to believe that the headmaster is using them to catch that thief."
All three fell silent, because Albert's words made perfect sense.
Were the traps set up by the professors difficult? They didn't seem that difficult! They weren't difficult at all, although they could still run into trouble if they weren't careful.
Wait, are you referring to us, the thieves?
They were all very curious about who these institutions were for.
Albert might know some things, but he certainly wouldn't tell them directly, so there was no point in asking him.
"All three heads of the house are involved, and Snape is probably no exception. We are very likely to face the traps set up by Snape next." George changed the subject and said his guess, which was actually quite reasonable.
As they were talking, the group arrived at a door.
After they looked at each other, Fred went forward and opened the door.
The moment the door was opened, a nauseating stench hit them, and they almost instinctively lifted their clothes to cover their noses.
The next moment, the sound of chains being pulled came from inside the door, followed by a deafening roar from within the room.
Albert almost instinctively reached out and pulled the door shut again.
Oh my god!
That smell was awful! He felt like his eyes were about to water from the stench.
"It's Troll!"
Fred took several steps back, not out of fear of the Troll, but to get as far away from the door and the horrible stench as possible, wanting to breathe some fresh air.
"Are you sure this is a trap set by Snape?" Lee Jordan clearly didn't believe that the Troll in the room was a trap set by Snape.
"It must be a trap set by Professor Quirrell. Troll are mentioned in Dark Forces: The 《Self-Defense Guide》." Albert and the others moved away from the door, and only after the terrible stench could no longer be smelled did they begin to cast the Bubblehead Charm on everyone.
"That's much better," Lee Jordan couldn't help but complain. "I have no doubt that the Troll was actually trying to suffocate anyone who entered the room."
Albert ignored Lee Jordan's complaints and reminded him, "Don't just kill the Troll inside. I'll throw a Lumos Charm in, and you guys use Stunning Spell on it to try and knock it unconscious. Under normal circumstances, we shouldn't need to fight that Troll directly; there must be some easy way to subdue it."
The group nodded, indicating that they understood.
Facing the Troll, they no longer felt the unease they had before. Although the Troll was even more dangerous than the chess piece statues, having previously killed two Troll, the four of them felt little fear or unease when facing Troll.
"Three, two, one!"
As Fred reopened the door, Albert immediately threw a ball of light inside, illuminating the dimly lit room completely.
The four raised their wands and fired Stunning Spell at the Troll inside.
Troll Troll, struck by the four Stunning Spell, swayed as if it were drunk. Instead of falling, it regained its footing, shook its head, and looked at the four young wizards who had entered the room.
"They weren't defeated!"
Fred, George, and Lee Jordan all looked shocked. They had all used Stunning Spell together. An ordinary person would probably have to be sent to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries if they were attacked like that.
"Obstruction Jinx!" Albert shouted.
The Troll in front of them was far larger than the two they had encountered last time.
"Obstruction Jinx!"
The crowd shouted in unison, and a spell shot out from the tip of the wand, striking Troll Troll's body and stopping it in its tracks, as if some immense force had bound it.
"What do we do?" Fred shouted. "Use the Stunning Spell a few more times?"
The effect of the Obstruction Jinx won't last long; the Troll could break free and move at any time. They must do something to completely subdue it.
"Destroy its weapons first." George was about to use Exploding Charm to destroy the Troll's wooden club, but Albert stopped him.
"Let me."
Albert simply waved his wand, and the wooden stick in the Troll's hand flew into the air.
When the Troll regained its mobility, it was shocked to find that its weapon was gone. It looked at its palm, scratched its head in confusion, and the wooden stick, which Albert had commanded, drew a graceful arc in the air and struck its original owner hard on the back of the head.
A deafening roar echoed through the room. The Troll swayed on the spot as if performing an exaggerated dance, staggered a few times, and fell face down on the floor.
With a loud "boom," the entire room shook.
"Just like that... we won?"
Lee Jordan stared wide-eyed in disbelief. He had thought he would have to struggle with this Troll for a while, but he hadn't expected to deal with it so easily. "I've studied Troll before. The only thing that's disgusting about these guys is their smell." Albert carefully stepped over the Troll's thick body and walked towards the door on the other side.
"Is the weakness the back of the head?" Fred asked, patting his head.
"That's right, one of its weaknesses is the back of its head. Attacking there can knock the Troll unconscious."
"Let's go, I don't want to stay here any longer," George muttered, reaching out to open the wooden door and stepping inside first.
"Next up should be Snape's trap!"
