Slytherin's Heroes
"Albert, Albert, look over there! Tell me quickly, am I seeing things?"
The next morning, as Albert and his friends passed by the giant hourglass that recorded the scores of the House Cup, Lee Jordan glanced at the hourglass, suddenly grabbed Albert's hand, pointed at Gryffindor's giant hourglass, and said, "Why has our house suddenly fallen to last place?"
"You read that right, we really are in last place." George's mouth dropped open in surprise. They had finally managed to defeat Slytherin and win the House Cup again.
"Do you think the huge hourglass of the score might be broken?" Fred raised his hand and tapped the hourglass twice.
"We've lost about 150 points." Albert raised his hand to stop Fred from making a fool of himself and calmly stated his speculation. "It's probably because someone was wandering around the castle last night and was caught by Filch, which is why our academy lost so many points."
"Do you know something? I remember you went out on a date last night too. Could it be that Filch caught you?" Fred, George, and Lee Jordan all looked at Albert suspiciously. They didn't believe Albert could have been caught by Filch, but this guy definitely knew why Gryffindor had lost so many points.
"Yes, quite a few students were wandering around the castle last night," Albert said, spreading his hands helplessly. "Alright, let's go have breakfast."
"Aren't you angry at all?" Fred muttered. "We were finally about to beat Slytherin again and win this year's House Cup."
"I'm not angry," Albert said nonchalantly. "Winning or losing doesn't really make any difference to me."
This morning was a desperate one for the Gryffindor students!
In just one night, all of Gryffindor's hopes of winning the House Cup were destroyed.
When all the Gryffindor students discovered that their house had inexplicably lost 150 points, they were instantly in an uproar.
How could their college suddenly have 150 fewer points than yesterday? What exactly happened last night?
Everyone was searching for the reason, until Percy Weasley reluctantly asked Professor McGonagall, and finally found out why their college had lost 150 points in one night.
You mean, Harry and two other students were wandering around the castle at night, causing the house to lose so many points?
"Why didn't you help Harry last night?" The three roommates were all complaining to Albert, as most students hoped their own house would win the House Cup.
"They were caught by Filch because they were careless," Albert said helplessly. "Sometimes, it's not a question of whether to help or not."
The news quickly spread throughout Hogwarts Castle.
Harry Potter, the famous Quidditch hero of Gryffindor, has caused Gryffindor to lose so many points.
Harry, Hermione, and Neville became the most unpopular people in Gryffindor in just the time it takes to eat breakfast.
Upon learning of this, a Slytherin student approached Harry, patted the Savior on the shoulder, and said, "Thank you, Potter, you've done us a great favor!"
"You deserve some credit for our victory in the House Cup!"
More and more Slytherin students came over to greet Harry Potter. They surrounded Potter at the table, clapping, whistling, and cheering, which annoyed him. Finally, with Professor McGonagall's help, Harry managed to struggle out of the crowd and leave in a sorry state.
As for everyone else, they all turned a blind eye to Harry Potter and no one gave him a friendly look.
"Are you guys really concerned about the score?" Albert asked his three roommates after eating a sausage.
"I just feel really bad that all that effort to beat Slytherin and win the House Cup has been ruined like this," Lee Jordan muttered.
"What's there to be upset about? You haven't added that many points for Gryffindor yourself," Albert said calmly, spreading jam on a slice of bread. "If you really cared, you would have been working hard to add points for the house long ago. Besides, I'm not upset myself, so what are you upset about?"
Lee Jordan was speechless.
"What are you saying?"
Several hot-tempered upperclassmen turned around and glared at the speaker after hearing these words, but when they saw Albert, they were all stunned.
"Do you think I'm not qualified?" Albert asked without looking up.
Although those people were very dissatisfied, they obediently shut up.
If it were anyone else saying these words, they would probably have drawn angry glares from the other Gryffindor students, but the person who said them was Albert.
Even though his words struck a nerve with many students, they had to admit that Albert was qualified to say those things.
Albert consistently adds a significant number of points to Gryffindor each year.
It's worth noting that most Gryffindor students are already doing well if they don't lose points for their own house, let alone actively add points to their house.
The Gryffindor students' dissatisfaction ultimately stemmed from the loss of the House Cup, and they directed all their frustration at the three unfortunate students. Potter, was under the most pressure, which was understandable given his fame. In the evening, Albert went to Harry's place to retrieve the Invisibility Cloak, only to find Potter instead going to Wood to announce his intention to quit Quidditch.
As a result, Wood gave him a severe lesson.
Although Wood was equally furious, he wasn't completely out of his mind. If they lost Harry, Gryffindor might even lose the Quidditch Cup.
"Wood, would you mind lending me Potter for a few minutes?" Albert raised his hand to greet Wood.
"Go ahead!" Wood said irritably.
In full view of everyone, Albert led Harry to a secluded place.
"Alright, don't be sad, it's just a few points deducted," Albert said. "You forgot to take the Invisibility Cloak with you last night, remember to come to my place and get it back later!"
"Aren't you angry?" Potter asked in surprise.
Currently, Ron is probably the only one in the entire Hogwarts Castle who would say such a thing to him.
"Angry? No, I don't value the so-called House Cup like others do. It's either there or it isn't." Albert smiled and patted Potter on the shoulder to comfort him. "If you can't stand their gossip, then keep a low profile and spend more time and energy on reviewing your studies. Most students don't remember things for very long; they'll forget about it in a week or two. At most, they'll forget about it completely by next semester."
After being comforted by Albert, Harry felt much better, but his situation remained unchanged.
There's no way around it; the higher you climb, the harder you fall.
Sometimes being too famous has its downsides.
Wherever Potter went, people would point and whisper about him, saying insulting things to Potter face.
Perhaps all people are like this!
This was the answer Albert finally arrived at.
As Harry's accomplices, Hermione and Neville also had a tough time. Because they weren't as famous as Harry, not many students at school knew them, but they couldn't avoid being pointed at, ridiculed, and insulted behind their backs.
At first, Hermione tried desperately to make up for the lost points with other professors, but every time she spoke up or received extra points, she was met with ridicule and malicious slander behind her back.
Therefore, Hermione no longer showed her face in class, always keeping her head down and studying quietly.
If we were to say who among the three had the worst time, it would undoubtedly be Neville.
At least, Harry and Hermione still have friends they can stick together for comfort.
Since Gryffindor suffered a massive deduction of points, Neville has become truly isolated, with even his roommates in the dorms no longer willing to talk to him.
He could only silently endure all of this, secretly shedding countless tears in the dead of night.
